“Amazing food, the staff were all very attentive and really friendly and made us feel very welcome especially Flori. The portions are huge and incredible value for money and the food all tasted delicious especially the lamb shank”
“We had a midweek lunch which was first class. Local IPA is recommended, generous portions and varied fresh vegetables support an imaginative menu. Tables are well laid out, sensibly spaced And the interior decor is top quality. The staff are well trained and interested in the food. The food and views are excellent,so worth making the trip out especially on a sunny day.”
“An excellent local pub with a community feel…like a Sheffield version of 80s/90s sitcom, “Cheers,” without the awkward eccentric Psychiatrist and lacking a fat American bloke called Norm but where all the staff and regulars know your name. The kegs and casks are carefully selected and as a result don’t hang around long, so rotate regularly. Variety is the spice of life after all. There are also some reasonably priced, good quality bar snacks and the staff might let you sneak in some food from nearby eateries if you’re fiercely loyal and don’t want to lose your seat. The loyalty card scheme ensures you get a freebie after your tenth pint and there are a good range of non-beer beverages for those of a less discerning persuasion.”
“I’ve been visiting The Grind for around three years now, and it’s hands down my favourite spot in Doncaster. The owner and staff are always so welcoming and lovely; nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The prices are really reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes and the quality of the food. And if you’re into cocktails, you’ll be spoilt for choice; their menu is huge, and every one I’ve tried has been delicious! Highly recommend!”
“Had work christmas party here, good was amazing, service was impeccable and atmosphere was electric Thanks!”
“My wife and I went here on a recommendation, I'll be honest it's not the kind of pub I'd usually choose to go but on the way back home I was thinking maybe my usual place id go to isn't that good. The Black Market upon entering was extremely friendly, Dave behind the bar was lovely we had a talk about the craft beers and a giggle. My wife and I had a three course meal here, I had the Nacho's and my wife the garlic mushrooms, it absolutely wasn't what I was expecting. The Nacho's were for Nacho's amazing, the salsa was so fresh and zingy, my wife's garlic mushrooms were really saucy and garlicy (is that a word?) Big portion too. We then had the fish and chips, I have no problems saying this was one of the best if not the best fish and chips I've ever had (being a Norfolk local) I've had my fair share of good fresh fish and chips, the batter was fresh the cod was succulent and fresh. Was a great atmosphere, service was quick and the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was phenomenal This is a place in my humble opinion I would class as a hidden gem, I am doubting my usual technique for choosing where to eat, some of the best places I have eaten are buildings I usually would walk straight past whilst thinking god no. The food here is amazing, the atmosphere and locals here were extremely friendly and welcoming. If you're passing or local and wondering should I try it, absolutely do. Next time I am back in this area I definitely will. Nice craft beers too, also worth mentioning. A real credit to the village. 10/10 from me.”
“Visited on Mexican night. Genuinely, service wise probably the best pub we've been to in years. All staff are so friendly. Food is great too, loads of choice and big portions. Great to see a local pub busy and doing so well.”
“Just been for an early evening meal. What a beautiful restaurant, with a lovely welcoming ambience. The menu is amazing and covers all food choices, and the chef was lovely, giving us complimentary bread and dips, and an alternative dish to sample that he was trying out. The waiting staff were suburb, especially Chloe who was so lovely and attentive. I can highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning very soon.”
“Amazing food, helpful staff, clean and great prices”
“Perfect little boozer, great beers at good prices, friendly staff, will come again when in town, and not forgetting the £1 rolls ( referred to as sandwiches), absolute bargain!!”
“Fancied fish and chips for ages. Decided to treat myself. The Blue Ocean did not disappoint. Large fish and chips was delicious! Big freshly cooked fish and perfect chips. And the staff were very friendly. Excellent thank you!”
“Great food and service. Came out at a good pace and generous portions. Good atmosphere. Was busy on Saturday night.”
“Fantastic little eatery, our chicken was cooked tender and perfect, great service, I gave it 4 stars for atmosphere because it wasn’t busy and was very quiet, but I’m sure in the evenings it would be good. Prices a little higher than other pub/restaurant in the area, but the presentation and food is outstanding. One small dislike was that the aircon was on and it felt a bit cold, But We will be back.”
“This treasure is a great spot. The Sunday lunch is amazing. Nice quirky bar.”
“So I booked in for the wife's birthday, table for 10 people, The place was buzzing inside and outside. Absolutely packed. The atmosphere was brilliant. The service was fantastic and the food is next level. Absolutely delicious the Ribeye was cooked to perfection. The wait on the mains was an hour but the place was so busy, and we were happy chatting and drinking to notice. The price was cheaper than expected we had meals Puddings and drinks and it was worth every penny. We will definitely be back.”
“I’ve been to this Turkish restaurant a few times now and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and full of flavour; the hummus with meat was so tasty and the bread was soft and warm, perfect for dipping. I forgot to take a photo of my main this time because I was too busy enjoying! Service is always quick, and the staff are really kind and welcoming”
“The food is incredible and they have a huge sauce selection too. The only downside is the patrons this place seems to attract, they are very loud and seem to bring their whole extended family! Not pleasant when children are running wild when you’re trying to enjoy a nice meal.”
“We had a lovely time! We had a few complications to our day such as people dropping out everything was handled by the staff really well and made everything easier. The food was really nice, the table was set up very Christmassy and the venue was lovely. Thankyou to all the staff for being very accommodating and attentive!”
“Book in advance as this place is popular. Good food at reasonable prices, lovely atmosphere. Would go back!”
“Sam, Nat and Team are amazing. It’s a great place for party. Had a wonderful celebration for my cousins 18th Birthday. Have some great traditions for turning 18th. Thank you for a great night. Food was amazing.”
“Lovely pub with grub, down a small road. Recommended from a pub guide book. Nice selection of beers and a good menu. Quiet when we called in on a midweek afternoon, but very popular. Plenty of seating inside and a large marquee outside. Large car park to the side and rear. Nice chat with the friendly staff.”
“The food is absolutely wonderful, the staff are pleasant and friendly. Great atmosphere and super busy. Get booked in well in advance or you'll never get a carvery!”
“Had a mega mixed grill and the sirloin stake was absolutely amazing and the chicken was juicy and grilled to perfection. Would recommend that you give this place a try. If you want good quality food, this is the place.”
“All you can eat tapas what a great idea! We loved this pretty restaurant. Great food particularly the lamb chops and garlic prawns. Great cocktails.”
“From the moment we arrived with a warm welcome we felt very comfortable in our surroundings. Our food was cooked to perfection, arriving without delay. We hadn't been to The Royal Oak before but won't hesitate to do so again. Thank you for a lovely evening.”
“Second time we’ve been since the new owners and it’s been fabulous on both occasions. Such a variety on the menu so there is something for everyone and the kids menu is great too. Food is amazing and the portions are huge so you’ll never leave on an empty stomach. The staff are friendly and attentive and really care about their customers. We enjoyed our time here, thank you! X”
“Can't fault this place at all. Staff were really attentive and food is absolutely delicious! I got introduced to cheese sauce on my roast dinner for first time as a southerner. Let's just say I was very impressed indeed and didn't realise what I've been missing all this time on my roasts! Highly recommended place for pub lunch and lovely Yorkshire Cask Ales!”
“visited again 12:00 on saturday, after two years. the meals ordered were delicious. the chilli beef was medium spicy. the lamb rump was tender, the slow roasted beef was good. meals were in generous portions. they were value for money. remember look for special menu broads A late lunch 3:30pm today, have a delicious and good generous portion of ox tail & mesh potato meal. if you enjoy ox tails, you should try this dish when it is still on a special menu”
“Fantastic local family pub. Service and food is always great. However the real stand out feature of the place is the atmosphere generated by the managers Lee and Joanne. They have a super team of staff who are always bright, cheerful and helpful. We have used the pub for a formal family function and just to pop in for a drink and have never been disappointed. My dad is currently suffering with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and is wheelchair bound. Lee and Joanne always make us feel welcome and make a real fuss of my dad. Other than his bungalow the Hay Nook is his favourite place to be.”
