“A lovely family orientated pub with very friendly staff and customers”
“Best meal out I've had in a long time!”
“Excellent dinner and first class service. Highly recommend this restaurant. We especially enjoyed the jackfruit filo pastry parcel. The beer battered cod had a super crispy batter with homemade chips and crushed peas would definitely return to have this again. The presentation was very good. Recommend booking.”
“Very nice relaxed club. Good service. Excellent food at a very reasonable price.”
“Everything looked delicious. We opted for a selection of starters between us instead of a main so we had room for dessert. Good choice. They were great - so was dessert.”
“Stuart....top guy loved our chat and the crptic quiz on the wall! No spoilers but chuffed i got it.....marvellous pint! Chatted with some locals...all delightful! The movie is The Vault! Cheers!”
“The Best and only place in southampton to dance salsa, bachata and kizomba every Sunday”
“Forgot to pick up a bottle on my way home and stopped by once. The staff were on readily on hand and knowledgeable, very friendly. This has become my regular goto place. Great selection too.”
“On our way home from a stay in Bournemouth,we decided to make a pitt stop. It took just over 40mins to get here, navigating through the village of Lyndhurst and numerous wild ponies. The hotel and surroundings are magnificent with views of the New Forest as far as the eye can see. But as impressive it all is,we are not here for that. We are here for the food of Hartnett Holder & Co. Angela Hartnett & Luke Holder are in charge of the kitchen here, serving Italian influenced dishes. As we were early we managed to get seated on the terrace in the glorious sunshine with our doggies. While admiring the surroundings a member of staff brought out a bowl of olives and nuts. We ordered a couple of zero alcohol Erdinger beers £11.(driving). Menu wise, there was a choice between the bar, a set lunch and an A la Carte. We chose from the bar menu. Risotto Milanese £16 Saffron infused, aged parmesan & butter. Spaghetti Bolognese £15 Somerset Saxon Chicken Milanese £20 Lemon, parmesan & rocket. Cornish Fish £30 Tenderstem broccoli, lemon & green leaves. Chips Skinnies £7 Although we were full,we could not leave until we tried the Tiramisu £15. Everything we had was just as expected. Simple dishes, beautifully executed and full of flavour. With lots of parmesan to add. We didn't get to see much of the inside of the house as doggies are not allowed in. Hence that's the reason we dined outside. But we did get first class service and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Thank goodness the weather was on our side.”
“Had a wonderful Christmas lunch with a group of school friends”
“Great welcoming place. Just been to the new Scrabble/Board Games Group which started this afternoon. Fun, very relaxed, cuppa, chocolate brownie and good to meet people. Come along, meeting monthly at the moment (check website or call centre for future dates). Come along and give it a go!”
“The bed was rubbish. It was a very nice room very clean BUT the bed was old I sat on it and the springs was poking and when I got in it I slept for about two hours the floor carpet would of been better. The shower was ok downside it had a eco button do not press it! It was like boiling water coming out and I got burnt on my arm. Luck I have a beer belly lol”
“Went to the Bell Inn today for an afternoon tea. Arrived early but the staff were very obliging and seated us 30 mins before the afternoon tea started. I’d asked in advance whether my sister in law could have plain cheese and ham sandwiches as she doesn’t like any salads, pickles etc. Her sandwiches were perfect. Along with mine, the cakes were delicious as were the scones, lashings of clotted cream, yummy. Would definitely recommend the afternoon tea as The Bell Inn.”
“Had a fantastic impromptu lunch at the Thomas Lord. Yvonne and Tess were amazing hosts and would thoroughly recommend the lunch menu. The food was great and the interiors were really warm and welcoming. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you again soon !”
“The food is always of good quality and quantity at the hotel. We have been eating here a few times and have never been disappointed so far. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. It's easy to find as it is on the main road. It can be busy at times as it is very popular. Highly recommended to eat a d drink”
“What a place!!! Have used the inflatable park many times, the teenage kids love it, young kids, young adults and even us oldies (brings out some youth in us I guess) I also use the wake park regularly. 5 point cable in a ring so can get 6 people on at any one time. Not always the case and you can ask for gaps if suitable. They also do slow sessions for beginners. But even on a busy session you'll get so much time on the water you'll be wiped out... That is either you'll be knackered or actually have wiped out on one of the many awesome features! Kit hire available. Cafe on site with real nice fresh pizza oven food and a bar up the top for post activity chill out time. Can't comment on camping though as I haven't used that facility. The owners are awesome people who will be there most days. The staff are well trained, friendly and super knowledgeable so if you're needing the next step for boarding, just ask them and they will help. Other activities like kayaking and SUP are also available.”
“We stopped here for the night in our motorhome. Very welcoming with a lovely wood fire for a very cold night. Food was delicious, I had the moving mountains burger with fries and my husband had the chilli con carnie. Very clean and tidy. Thank you”
“Lovely food, great staff, and reasonable pricing. Had a lovely dinner here. Tuesday is a great day to go, as there is a £5 Tapas deal. We spent £35 on food between two of us and we were stuffed. Highly recommended this place to anyone who likes Thai food. Pictured; veg spring rolls, prawn crackers, Singha Beer, wonton soup, crispy squid, green Thai curry with sticky rice”
“Have often driven past and wondered what is was like. We cycled there as a group on a tour of the local pubs. Had a lovely Thai green curry and it was served with a pint of Clarksons Hawkstone lager! What a great combo The interior of the pub is spotless and had a welcome feel to it . The bar staff are very friendly and the service on the food was very good”
“Popped in for drinks on a Sat eve whilst visiting the area for a steam train ride. Friendly welcome. Lady with the blonde bob, tall was very efficient, took a piccie of us, she was very attentive but not intrusive, great asset. Wish we had stayed here overnight as disappointed with the Swan hotel opposite. Beautiful candlelit bar & restaurant.”
“It was a dreadful wet windy and fairly chilly day but we had booked a gathering of friends and I had to go out! We had a warm welcome. Very good Christmas meal quickly served which was also good value for money. No roast potatoes kept hot for ages. These, together with lovely veg were hot and fresh. They also managed to sort our 11 bills separately with no hassle. I'd definitely go again”
“Lovely pub, outstanding food, good selection of drinks and some of the best service I’ve had locally. Really great food and a nice place to have a meal. Portions are generous so make sure you’re hungry!”
“Popped in on Halloween night as we were running behind on dinner due to trick or treating with the kids and they left us no dinner. Saw their Facebook post on special Halloween offers so gave it a go. Lovely friendly staff, even the chef popped out in to restaurant area. Sausage and mash was lovely, nice touches and locally sourced sausages. Couldn't stay long and only moved to Swanmore 3 weeks ago so at least we know this place is a food one to go to in future. See you again soon!”
“A beautiful building located at the side of South Western Hotel & next to the old railway station that is now a casino. We visited for a wedding & the large room was indeed grand! Beautiful decor with chandeliers.”
“Lovely food and service, the Polish lady who greeted us was so lovely and welcoming, food amazing and very attentive service. A tad pricey but you really do get what you pay for re service. Highly recommended.”
“Fantastic pub, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend”
“Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Friendly staff, fine beer and phenomenal food. The burgers are excellent and the breakfasts fantastic. Poached eggs to perfection. Nice clean rooms, plenty of parking and a really interesting local area. A beach, a pond, a park an Co-op and a ruined abbey. What more do you need a stone’s throw from the best pub this side of the Isle of Wight? Thank you!”
“Excellent service. Clean, large modern looking pub on the inside and stunning country style looking on the outside. A drink selection with 3 ales I think there were. There was a British standard pub menu with kids option but also a very good Authentic Indian menu too. The best Indian I have had in years actually. I recommend the Goan Cod Curry. The rice is cooked perfectly too. Naan bread was also the best i have ever had too. Clean toilets. Family friendly. Very friendly service. Dog friendly too. Reasonably priced with good portion size too. Really worth the trip out there. I will be going back despite it being a 55 minute drive. It was quiet but then it was only 4pm so between rush periods - means you get an excellent service from the staff.”
“Everyone knows Jesters if you are a student in Southampton or even the locals. Jesters is half night club, half bar (Clowns). Jesters is underneath and houses good music, cheap alcohol and a mosh pit type dance floor. It is nowhere near as bad as some festivals but definitely an experience. If you haven't been, go! It deserves a 5 star because its Jesters! Haha!”
“We stayed two nights at the Bugle. The room was spotlessly clean and well-appointed, with everything we needed for a short stay. Staff were beyond helpful and are truly lovely! The breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order so it was hot and fresh. The location is great, with several other options for dining and drinking too. Yes, there is some noise in the room from the bar but it stops promptly at 11pm and it's to be expected when you stay in a pub! No car park, but easy, free parking just across the road. Thanks Bugle team for a great stay!”
