“We spent a long weekend in nearby Alton and stumbled across this restaurant, and what a treat! Not only a lovely change from the usual pub grub so commonly found locally, but it was super tasty. We live in London and are picky about our curries, but this place definitely ticked the box. Even our little ones really enjoyed the korma. Just be warned about those portion sizes! Great service too. Chaps who work there were very welcoming and attentive. Would recommend.”

“The food was excellent - some of the best Chinese food I've had recently. I particularly liked the kai sung (it reminded me of the san choy bow you find in Chinese restaurants in Australia). The sizzling beef was served on a sizzling hot platter with a tasty pepper sauce. The wonton soup had luscious and juicy prawn wontons with a generous serve of wontons. We decided to go a la carte, but the range of set menus is impressive and well priced too. It was lovely to see the restaurant team welcoming people and checking in with people at key stages of the meal. It had a really nice family feel and vibe! Luckily we booked our table the night before dining as the restaurant filled up very quickly after we arrived. We were visiting family in the area, so we don't live close by - but we've said we would gladly return on future visits. It is great to support local business and not just dine in the same restaurant chains.”

“Have been going to Peony for years! I honestly can say my family and I will always be very grateful to have such authentic restaurant at our door step. yes it has been taken over by new owner and food is somewhat a little different but it is still delicious and better than a lot of restaurants in Hong Kong. I also noticed they have replaced table cloths and chopsticks the place is a lot cleaner! Owner is friendly and evidently put a lot of effort in her work place. I am grateful for Peony and I am glad I don't have to travel an hour to have delicious dim sum! Keep up with the good work! Recent visit: the crab meat dumpling (red one in the pic) omg! Must try!”

“First visit to this ‘little tucked out the way’ take away - although we were lucky and had the only two window seats, so was able to eat in. “Turned up with no booking. The staff promptly found us a table and served us drinks whilst we looked at the menu. We both had chicken roast dinner which was absolutely delicious. “Booked a table for 3 for lunch on Friday. Tim greeted us and made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. He even took photos for us. The food was delicious and the service was great as always. It's such a lovely place to go and eat and then finish with a walk around the shop or the garden centre or both. Just love Jackson's Nursery.”
