“Great if you like an old style pub. It's for anyone that likes to check out a great selection of craft ales. Food consisted of a selection of cobs. We had amply filled cheese and onion. Very tasty. Very friendly and obliging staff.”
“Excellent pub about 12 minutes walk from Tamworth Railway Station. Seven cask beers on handpump when I visited including two stouts. Lots of outdoor seating some of it covered. The lovely C16/part Tudor building is home to Tamworth Brewing Company and its tap. The cosy upstairs rooms have Tudor features and the historic courtyard beer terrace to the rear offers striking views of Tamworth Castle. The Tamworth Tap won the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) National Pub of the Year in both 2022 and 2023!”
“Second time eating here in the past month and both times the food has been amazing. Staff are polite and helpful and the venue has been tastefully refurbished. Our new favourite place to eat. Tha you all.”
“Great place close to town centre. Modern rooms and superb breakfast. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend eating here as well. The menu and food is fantastic.”
“The staff were very friendly and the facilities looked very nice. I was fortunate enough to be open mic night and got to enjoy some live music too.”
“Brilliant pub in the heart of Tamworth town. Great selection of gins, beers and ales. Excellent outdoor space. Nice clean toilets”
“Visited over the weekend and after reading older reviews i was not expecting much however I was pleasantly surprised, nice cosey clean country pub. Staff was extremely friendly and made sure out visit was enjoyable. Food was cooked to perfection. I was informed that the pub has been taken over by new managers and after speaking to the locals it seems they are doing a great job getting the pub back to how it should be. Thank you for a great evening. Will definitely be back again soon”
“Went for the boxing... a good night busy but well organised.”
“Great pub with an old school atmosphere, incredibly welcoming and friendly, as a tramping lorry driver away from home all week it's little gems like this that you find for an hour in the evening that keep you sane, thoroughly recommended”
“Great micro pub, friendly atmosphere. Lovely selection of beers. Would recommend visit.”

“First time at The Old Bank House, came here for ciders as it showed up on the Realale finder App, they had 10 ciders on ! Really friendly welcome from the owners, it has lots of very nice rooms all decorated nicely with chandeliers and arm chairs. Highly recommended, will definitely com back again”
“Called in here for a quick pint on Thursday evening. Good choice of beers at reasonable prices and had live music. A proper pub, cheese and onion cobs available !! We have to keep the independent pubs going by visiting them, use or lose.”
“This is a cracking pub, the service is first class and the beers generally good. Love it out the back in the summer as you don't have to climb those stairs.”
“Lovely true British pub, friendly staff, lovely beer, and a buzz I’ve not felt since before Covid.”
“Amazing historic building in Tamworth. So great to see it back to life after so long. Great staff, Kieren at the bar was super friendly and helpful. A must see!”
“Tamworth’s best kept secret Omar Ghalwash’s - Tomahawk steak (approx 1.2kg) to share between 2 people with the most incredible triple cooked chips with the heavenlyist side salad you’ll ever taste all served with chimchurri sauce and a peppercorn sauce at a price that will astonish you in a good way - honestly food heaven I can’t give it 10 out of 10 it has to be way higher than that Fox Inn Dosthill - just trust me xx”
“Great local drinking pub.. lovely atmosphere, drinks at reasonable prices, very popular with locals and always busy every day of the week. Also great outdoor seating area outside to sit and have a drink. They also do 'snack foods' which include scotch eggs, cheese box and various cobs which are really nice and at very good prices. Dogs are welcome in the pub and they even provide doggy treats for free!”
“As a new member of Drayton Bassett Village Club, I’ve been blown away by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. There’s a real sense of family friendly and community spirit here. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet drink, there’s always a friendly face. What really stands out is the dedication of the volunteers who keep the club running they work incredibly hard behind the scenes to make sure everything goes smoothly and it shows. It’s clear they care deeply about supporting the club and the village as a whole. It’s a fantastic place for all ages, If you’re thinking of becoming a member or just visiting, I couldn’t recommend it more.”
“Room was pristine, bumped into the housekeeper as I was checking in and she made sure I had everything I needed. The hotel is attached to a charming country style pub with amazing food and fantastic staff. The location is on a busy road but also a 5 minute bus from the town centre which was a beautiful place to spend the day and has lots of local amenities. I would recommend this hotel to a person travelling alone or as a couple for a peaceful retreat as the location has fantastic transport links all over the country.”
“Good local pub, cosy, good value. Very good restaurant above - El Toro. Steak based with a few other options. Definitely worth a drive as there are very few good restaurant options nearby. Large portions yet still good quality. Meat comes from the local butcher. Excellent wine. Not quite Michelin star but better than any other local restaurant we've been to.”
“Nice atmosphere to the pub and great friendly service.”
“Love our local pub Food so much better since having new chef Brad Sunday lunch especially Ruth always friendly and accommodating Love our jan also always smiling and happy to see you So much better with the new owner mark Pub has come on leaps and bounds So much better now had refurbishment And painted out side New patio area Needed it for a long time”
“We have recently tried the Sunday carry-away from Christopher Tamworth, and they are an absolute delight! The food is worth every penny, and the taste was amazing. The gravy was so good that you could practically drink it straight from the pot. And I can’t forget to mention that their sticky toffee pudding is the best I’ve ever had. The quality and flavours exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend giving their Sunday dinners and puddings a try; you won’t be disappointed!”
“Book directly and have breakfast included at a lower overall price. Free secure car parking right in the centre of town and you cannot go wrong. The people are lovely and the whole establishment is sparkling clean. Sometimes the reward of taking a risk and supporting the local independent pays off high dividends. I will stay here again for certain.”
“Very reasonably priced from a cob at £2 to Steak and Ale pie at £8.50. Lovely beer in a beautiful tradition pub setting. Service was prompt and friendly with the food arriving quickly.”
