“Quickly becoming my favourite place to eat in Brighton. The food is incredible, not a bad dish on the menu. It’s not too expensive and the staff are lovely. It’s dog friendly, beautifully decorated and a lovely atmosphere. Coffee on point too. Just trust me and go here, you won’t be disappointed.”
“Perfect vegetarian breakfast - best I've had in ages!”
“Fabulous independent Coffee shop. Fabulous coffee and breakfast Excellent service. Highly recommended.”
“Delicious VLT in a lovely cafe. Sandwich was so generous I could barely finish. Will visit again”
“Such an amazing meal in an intimate cosy setting. The Octoberbest menu is brilliant as is the service! Extra thanks for the swaps :))”
“I wanted a breakfast sandwich and a latte and this place did not disappoint. Beautiful ingredients. This breakfast baguette really hit the spot. Can’t wait for the next one . Great staff and the latte was spot on. Thank you for Making a great start to my weekend”
“Excellent food, drinks and service. Really nice ambience. Highly recommended.”
“Nice cafe cum bar in Lewes. Great food and service. I had a meat plate (full English) which was great - not cheap at £15, but value for money. The coffee is great and I also had a 0% Paulaner beer as it was about 10.30”
“We had a table booked for 7:30 Wednesday 14th August for 4 people. We were seated in the courtyard and it was beautiful outside under the Jumbrella - the temperature was perfect : 3 of us had the chicken skewers to start and the chicken was so well cooked it easily came off of the skewer and the garlic butter was to die for. The other had the sharing platter for 2 (the fish one) it was a perfect size for a starter and for one person even though the rest of us “helped him out” . Portion sizes perfect. For mains we had 3 steaks and the surf and turf. Really generous portion sizes, quick service, food was DIVINE it was a shame to finish. We all had the same desert the chocolate mousse choux bun and even though nobody really had room for them they went down very easily!!! We will DEFINITELY return. The manager and all of the team were so attentive, friendly and professional it was a delight to be served by them. We loved the fact that it is a dog friendly restaurant and wish that there were more restaurants like this! Keep up the good work!”
“Such a gem, went with a group of bikers and had a great time. Service is fast and friendly and the food is just awesome. The brunch burger is the winner for me every time, a full English in a bun, heaven.”
“This is the most accurate to a greasy spoon cafe I have been in. Friendly staff, simple but delicious fry-ups, locals popping in and being called by their first names. Massively reasonably priced as well!!”
“Where can I start, the staff are amazing and very friendly, very clean café. One of the best if not the best omelette I've had in Brighton. Highly recommend for lovely food and coffee.”
“Had a ham and cheese sandwich which was toasted and was very good! The staff were accommodating to my diet which was kind of them. Coffee was also excellent”
“Just enjoyed a lovely mini breakfast. Quick service & a very tasty breakfast. Excellent value. The cafe is spotless & beautifully decorated in a Halloween theme.”
“A cozy cafe that I happened to stumble upon. The rhubarb crumble was amazing. The portions for the main dishes are also big which is awesome. Really nice atmosphere, as the locals eat here as well, and they were very kind”
“Come here because of the Google reviews and we was in the area. We live 5 hours away. Almost walked past the entrance, what a cute little place! Both mum and daughter was lovely, daughter was friendly and bubbily. Me and Mrs both ordered toasted sandwiches which where very very nice. All real food. Cooked perfectly. Had a milkshake and iced frappe. Both very nice. Lovely outdoor sitting area on a nice day. Price is as expected for a small family run place however felt it was worth it!. We probably won't be here again as don't pass through often. So felt a review would be a good way to thank them for the amazing lunch and service!”
“First time using them Only had a large huss cook fresh batter golden brown and crisp lots flavver will use again the young man that served me polite and full off beans spot on 11 out off 10”
“We visited this restaurant for a meal as part of a hen do, and it was absolutely perfect! I had the vegan moussaka, which was amazing—one of the best I've ever had. Everyone in our group loved their food too; everything was delicious. The decor is so cute and really made us feel like we were on holiday. The staff were incredibly lovely and made our evening even more special. Highly recommend!”
“Absolutely delicious. Gyro's are out of this world. Big portions, fresh and super tasty. Highly recommended.”
“Hands down the best Bulgarian meal I’ve had outside of Bulgaria. Went to Donchevi Kitchen & Bar today with my other half for lunch. As I’m from Bulgaria, I always wanted to share my cuisine but previous attempt have not been successful due to lack of quality original Bulgarian ingredients or chef abilities. This restaurant on the other hand tasted like home. We had kufteta, shopska salad, mousakka, parlenka and chips with Bulgarian cheese. Everything was not only authentic but also delicious. I loved it so much I had to ask for takeaway bag to take some home. I definitely recommend the restaurant to both Bulgarians and to everyone keen to try something different which they will enjoy. My partner is a bit picky with their food as they are British and tend to go with Italian food or British but they loved it too.”
“A really lovely restaurant that a friend and I visited Saturday lunchtime. We went for the set lunch menu. My friend is Slovak and really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel. I am vegetarian so went for halloumi burger. We also had a large salad bowl (50% discount with a main meal). . I do think they need to increase the vegetarian choices in the set menu because that was a bit restricted. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here.”
“Great micro pub run by a lovely couple. Nicely curated gravity driven cask beer, although there is a 2 line keg as well (one lager and one keg ale). Plus, there are plenty ciders, which personally I hate but they have plenty and my friends were very happy with their choices.”
“What a fantastic little country pub. Food is absolutely delicious (particularly the roast tatties...!) Staff are very welcoming and friendly, Chris the landlord is a charmer such a nice chap, makes the pub feel like a home. Out of all the pubs in Alfriston, The Six Bells is by far the best and least pretentious. Proper English pub overlooking the church serving great food, beers, wines and spirits. Will definitely be back...!”
“Wow, what an incredible experience the 16 course dinner was. The thought, preparation, skill and imagination that went into the whole experience was exceptional. From the chefs serving the dishes and sharing how they came about to the incredible tastes and flavour combinations. The teamwork, personality and passion came across in spades from the whole team. Jean is a genius, we were blown away by-the whole experience and I have never tasted such exceptional food. The price is not cheap, as you would expect, but it was worth every penny. The dishes for my vegetarian gluten free wife were incredible and not the usual afterthought that the majority of restaurants serve. Thank you for the best meal we have ever tasted. One Michelin star is not enough”
“Lovely spot with such a serene atmosphere. Delicious coffee too!”
“Nice old school cafe . Sadly no "Poached" eggs for me. Also food was a little over fried up for me inc the mushrooms. Jane who runs the cafe on her own does an excellent job.”
“Simple neighbourhood joint with yummy banana walnut bread and delish coffee. Chill place to sip your coffee while people or dog watching.”
“For those who remember the previous incarnation....the food is as tasty. Emphasis is on rich flavours and not simply heat and spice. The service is relaxed and attentive, the vibe is more buzzy and the menu seems to have a little wider choice. Great to have a first rate restaurant back in our village.”
“An absolute God-send of a spot! Two lovely ladies and some of the best heartwarming fry I’ve ever had. 11/10”
“Lovely friendly staff, good prices, big choice of hot drinks and delicious toasties! Love the atmosphere and interior design. Recommended :)”
