“Walked past a few times and always thought it looked unique, and when I visited I was not disappointed. The waitress was very kind, explained when the chef was coming in but prepared our drinks quickly and well. Stayed for the Princess Stack which was worth the wait. Great atmosphere, nice food and good staff, would definitely recommend.”

“The best English breakfast I've had so far in Bristol. Food & coffee are hot, the bacon & sausage are moist, but not greasy. 5 ⭐ for everything - food, service, hygiene, vibe. Can't wait to try their cake next time.”

    The Holy Cow Cafe

    ★★★★☆ 4.7

“Superb breakfast. Was recommended The Holy Cow by my sister during a visit to Wells, so we stopped by on our way home. We both had the Veggie Delight, and what a delight it was! Fried (or poached) egg, grilled tomato, mushroom, halloumi, wilted spinach, baked beans, home-made hash browns and home-made cranberry and pumpkin seed toasted spelt. All freshly made to order, this ain't no fast food outlet, but a really good example of what a cafe breakfast should be like. We were tempted to share some pancakes for a breakfast dessert, but we abstained. Will have to go back for a revisit next time we are in Somerset to try them out. The prices aren't any different to most places these days, just better food. We couldn't resist taking away a couple pieces of cake. Both gorgeous. Highly recommended. Thank you The Holy Cow team.”

“Tried this coffee shop for the first time today. Very friendly family run, applying all the Coronavirus measures and really safe! Don't expect a fry-up breakfast but small bites on toast, light lunches and good, Brian Wogan, coffee. In a venue displaying local crafts. This will become one of our regular venues!”

“Had a great brunch, we went for the Turkish spread. Very tasty, plenty for two big lads and I left feeling fresher and more healthy than if I'd had a normal fry up. Picture doesn't show the big plate of flat bread that came with it.”

“Our favorite food spot in the Stroud area! We keep coming back because the food and drinks are top notch, and we see such genuinely kind and generous service each time too. We can even do some of our grocery shopping while here. The fresh milk, eggs, butter, cream, and meat were all huge hits with our family of six. Our girls love the pastries and drinks, and we love that we don’t feel rushed in the cute cafe space with outside seating options if the day is nice. Super friendly service and just top quality all around. Cannot recommend enough!”

“This is a great venue, it's such a beautiful building. Ideal for a variety of events. A lot of the original features remain, or have been replaced like for like. Much of the original brickwork, and flooring remain throughout the building. The modern meets historical vibe works well for this venue. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Bar staff, reception, front of house, ushers, all make the space feel so welcoming. The lift might have been out of order, but they have a series of contingency plans, and everyone is able to access the venue. A lovely night was had, when 3 of us came to see Rosie Jones. (She was as fabulous as ever) A special shout out to Rowan who was so helpful from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. There were several sets of toilets: Gender neutral Male Female Disabled I used the gender neutral toilets, and as I suspected, was absolutely fine! These toilets are great for single parents and carers of opposing genders, who may need to enter the space. Or, rather bizarrely, someone like me who just needed the loo! More spaces should consider installing gender neutral loos.”

“The best proper local independent cafe for miles - excellent breakfasts and builders tea. A+ 17/09/2022 Update: As clean and tidy as ever, with just as good traditional British cafe menu, with very fast service. They have certificates up showing they have a "5" on the food hygiene rating, I can well believe this as the place is always incredibly clean. These guys know what they are doing, and do it very very well.”

“John and his team are so lovely. The food is made FRESH to order, so it may take a little bit of time if it's busy but it's worth it. We had the veggie breakfast wrap and it was HUGE! The picture doesn't do it justice. They also do homemade cakes which are excellent. Take away is also an option! Highly recommend.”
