Foodie experience in Derby

“Best of the best food, the chips are crucial and consistent throughout, burritos/chicken wings are tantalising and tender with the perfect amount of seasoning. Once you enter the shop you’re introduced by a mix of world class music, paired with top tier customer service. For my first time here it was an experience you would get a michelln star restaurant! Will be going again for many years to come and I recommend AMIGO DERBY to everyone and anyone!”

“Stayed here for my time in Etwall and you couldn’t pick a better spot. The location is fantastic and the room itself was nicely decorated and well maintained. This is all second to the first rate service and the friendliest of staff, who were extremely helpful during my visit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in lovely Etwall.”

“This is the best KFC,although I wouldnt Class it as Derby, probably class it more as willington as it's closer. Drive thru and sit down. Very fast service. No sooner have you handed your money over they're handing your food over too! Order correct all the time so far, piping hot and done to perfection. KFC at Derby Meteor centre , Wyvern and Foresters all got the orders wrong and the chicken was all bone and burnt to a crisp!! So Stick to the Derby/willington KFC.”

“We ordered some food for delivery tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by how big the portions for the pasta were! Literally the size as a Ben and Jerrys tub! We really enjoyed our food and will be ordering again.”

“Wow! Caught a last minute booking for the ten course - yes TEN - tasting menu. Fab-u-lous! Something so wrong yet right about starting with the unmistakable taste of a Big Mac from the first course but we then cantered through so many creative and sumptuous dishes, each painstakingly presented and introduced by her enthusiastic and friendly team. Start with a cocktail and then enjoy taking your time with the wide choice of wines to suit all tastes (and budgets). We went with a Montrachet as it was a special occasion and the food deserved a wine to match. But please don’t make a reservation - it was hard enough to get one this time!”

“We were visiting Tutbury, and stumbled across this lovely café. We only had drinks but even those were nice. The caramel latte is my favourite ☕ The staff were helpful and friendly. The toilets are on the left hand side of the café, and we're spacious and clean. I would recommend this café.”

“Drove into town to try this place. Really pleased we did. Kebab meat is the best in Burton by a good margin. Fresh cooked with homemade curry sauce. Nan breads fresh as well. Was told they will be on Uber eats this week hopefully as new place. Highly recommend.”

“From just looking at the menu the food seems really basic and overpriced and I do find it difficult to justify spending £9.95 on lunch (with the small portion option) but while the ingredients are simple the portion you get for small is filling and as they say the ingredients truly are fresh and delicious. My favourites were the daal and hot potatoes. The main protein I had, chicken breast, seemed bland at first glance but actually tasted very good. Unfortunately I forgot to take additional pictures below the top layer. I think I'd only get this for lunch on special occasions but I think I would get the better value medium for dinner more often, I can't imagine finishing a medium bowl in one sitting. 2: I finally found an excuse to go again and it was really good. I had the salmon this time, which cost £2.50 extra ! It was quite good, a touch fishy. I had the daal, chicken curry, beef rice thingy. It was all quite filling and good.”

I recommend it to everyone I came from Birmingham with my friends and did not expect such food and service from this place it was an extremely pleasant surprise. “It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.”

“Delicious Thai food at Tom Yum Thai Kitchen. We ordered the set menu so shared a platter with five starters including spring rolls and gyoza, everything was really tasty. The mains were chicken in oyster sauce, beef massaman curry and a duck dish. Everything was well presented and tasted so good. We were staying locally for the weekend and specifically drove to Belper to find this place after hearing good things! It was very busy for a Sunday, I imagine with it being a bank holiday weekend, so the staff were rushed off their feet, but were still brilliant. Just a note about the toilets which are up some stairs and down a corridor; the restaurant is located in a converted mill.”

“The food in Ebi is superb. This is one of the best Japanese restaurant so far I tried in UK. Assorted Sashimi is the most I like, make me feel like dining in Japan. Chef and staffs are Japanese too.”

“We visited today for my birthday and oh my goodness it's was brilliant. Absolutely fantastic service from a very friendly guy (didn't get his name!) from the minute we walked in. So refreshing to have a waiter who does things so well. Cocktails were lovely and well made and the birthday card was a very nice touch. We both had three courses, and finished every last bit of it all! Really delicious. My husband particularly enjoyed the Thai sweet potato soup and I absolutely loved the rump of lamb. The flavours were so fresh and delicious. Felt like a real treat to visit somewhere so lovely. Can't wait to revisit! Thank you!”

“Lovely little restaurant located in the heart of Burton upon Trent. The staff are polite and friendly and the prices (Lunch time menu) are inexpensive for a decent dish. I have been multiple times and it's been decent throughout. My only complaint is that the chicken pieces could be a little higher in quality overall. But that wouldn't stop me from going back again.”

“Ordered a madras and in other places it can be made less than madras hot which im tired of explaining I can handle the spice. The Rivaj got it spot on and did not dilute the spice as requested but also kept the beautiful flavours coming through. Perfect balance.”

“First visit to Fanny’s, nice easy to reach location but on the cusp of the countryside. Perfect for cyclists etc. We had the Cooked breakfast which was to die for. You can certainly tell it is locally sourced. Generous portions as well. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.”
