“First visit to Fanny’s, nice easy to reach location but on the cusp of the countryside. Perfect for cyclists etc. We had the Cooked breakfast which was to die for. You can certainly tell it is locally sourced. Generous portions as well. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.”
“Such a great restaurant . Great authentic taste . Great service . He received us in such warm fashion. Mr Ali Akbar is the owner of the Restuurant and a great human being . Definitely recommended.”
“Excellent you couldn't get better, lovely atmosphere and Mandy was a lovely helpful lady. Best Chinese take away that I have ever used and I am in my 76 year. Happy Christmas China Rice.”
“My daughter and I had afternoon tea on Tuesday at the Bottle Kiln (to celebrate my birthday), it was absolutely delicious, and there was so much food!! The service was amazing, particular shout out to lovely Zara and Alice who served our table and made our experience extra special.”
“Great Sunday lunch and genuine great service. We went in to see what it was like before booking out the place for a wedding nearby. Loved the food can’t wait to return!!”
“This was our first visit after 10+ years of visiting Barton Marina. Wonderful food, quick and attentive staff and lovely ambience. Visited at 6pm on a Sunday evening. It was fairly quiet but we had booked a table just in case. Food is truly excellent. We had the Thai Marina Favourite Basket starter followed by Gaeng Massaman (chicken), Chu Chee Gung Yai (jumbo prawn), sticky Thai rice and noodles.”
“As a group of 39 people we were all seated in the outdoor pods for sunday lunch on 11th November. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were polite and friendly. Once seated, it was a matter of minutes before our drinks orders were taken and we got told our pre ordered food wouldn't be long. Considering the size of our group and the pub itself was extremely busy, it was impressive how quickly we all got served. The staff were amazing, nothing asked was too much for them! The food was spectacular! With mainly roast dinners being ordered, no one said a bad word about anything. The meat just fell apart and the portions were generous. I would definitely recommend The Bluebell to anyone visiting the area, although I think booking would be the best option as extremely busy!”
“Our booking was for 20 people. The service was efficient and helpful, and everyone was served in good time. Two people ordered the Aubergine dish, but it wasn't to their taste, an exchange was offered, and no charge was made. It was handled very well. Much appreciated how they sorted out the bill for us to pay individually. Excellent!”
“First time here, since it's been turned into an Indian based menu. With that the selection was reduced, but the food was really nice. All whilst being quite reasonable. It wasn't too busy and the people there were very friendly. Great experience overall”
“Called in today no booking made which is unusual for myself, service and food absolutely great as usual, even though they were busy. As regular visitors to the beacon couldn't recommend it enough. Staff always friendly and polite, food is excellent quality and value for money. Keep up the great work Leah and the team.”
“A pleasant country pub in pretty rural surroundings. I visited with a friend ona busy Friday evening. The staff were friendly, polite, professional and managed that difficult balance of attentiveness and unobtrusiveness perfectly. Both the selection of food available and it’s quality was very good, I will have to go back to try more of the menu soon. There was a wait between ordering and service but that is expected in the context of properly cooked food and I would not want it to change.”
“Beautiful restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine. Everything about this restaurant is excellent: the decor is elegant but inviting, the food is superb, and the staff are fantastic. There’s plenty of options for vegetarians and diners with dietary restrictions. Dishes can also be adjusted according to your personal preference. Special mention and thank you to the lady (sorry I didn’t get your name) who was so lovely and made my day extra special when I told her it was my birthday. Your kindness was very much appreciated. I highly recommend visiting Thailand No.1 Matlock, but I would probably reserve a table if visiting at the weekend as I have a feeling it gets incredibly busy!”
“Just been for meal at this little treasure of a restaurant. Service was beyond friendly, lovely ambience, food was out of this world. Being vegetarian for 40 years I do get bored of the same menu BUT they had a few amazing different options which I went for the beetroot and lentil bourguignon which tasted outstanding. My husband had for the pork belly and also agreed the food was beyond delicious. Very Highly recommended.”
“I dropped in to have a coffee, but on entering, smelling the food and having a sense of calm about the place, I decided to get a menu and have some breakfast. The menu is small but concise and doesn't attempt to be an "everything to everyone" type of eatery. I had the veggie breakfast and it was delicious. Hash browns were fluffy yet crisp on the outside and the whole meal went down nicely. Table service was good although I wasn't too sure whether you pay at the table or at the counter. Food is cooked from fresh and you can tell when it comes out. My only slight negative was I didn't like the butter/spread used on the toast but this is a very minor point. Would definitely visit again and would recommend to all to have a visit. Breakfast and coffee for under a tenner.”
“Had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast here for a birthday treat. I've never had a multiple course breakfasts in this sort of format, so that was interesting. The location is adorable, especially if you can get a window seat. Staff were patient and friendly. The food was amazing! Good quality ingredients, tasteful sauces. The crumpet for my eggs benedict initially looked store bought, but it had much better flavour and texture when eating. Mushrooms on toast was so savoury and creamy, but not overly saucy. The brioche used was not overly sweet, so a good balance for various plates. Would happily return, and looking forward to trying a lunch/dinner menu.”
“Take my Dad here for breakfast on a Sunday . Food is always great and freshly prepared and never have to wait too long even when it’s busy. The staff are so friendly and helpful . They are a credit to the business .we visit on a regular basis even though Dad lives in Nottingham.”
“lovely food and great service. Some a good time eating here. Bear in mind Friday can be noisy.”
“We stayed in the hotel last night and we had a meal before going out for our event nearby, we had Lamb jelfrezi, lamb malaya, rice, portion of bombay potato, garlic naan, hand on heart THE BEST EVER INDIAN CUISINE WEVE EVER HAD!!!! It was absolutely divine ✨️.”
“A group of 8 went for a meal here and it was fantastic! Emily was so welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. The food was superb , steaks cooked to perfection , starters beautifuly presented and generous portion size. Could not fault the place and will be going again. When back in Derby. Highly recommend a visit.”
“Will get South Indian food, food is good. Parking is available for 4 to 5 cars but when we arrived, there is no parking, so parked at Abbey street paid parking (£2.5 for 2 hours). Service was also good. Overall rating is GOOD.”
“Good food, quick service times and very friendly staff. Amazing setting, especially in the evening/night”
“Really Thai vibe restaurant and food. Everything was delicious! Especially desserts, we went out full and satisfied! Totally recommend!”
“I stayed in Derby for a week and tried a few different places for breakfast. I found the book cafe to be the best. Excellent quality food. Particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs which were light and flurry. Every item on the plate was of good quality. The location of the cafe is very central and the quirky ambience adds to the experience. Only slightly marked down service as there was no table service, only order at the bar was available but that said the staff were nice and friendly. I’d gladly return to the book cafe in the future and recommend to others”
“Had a lovely meal with my wife at the Thai Basement in Ashbourne. This had been recommended by our in-laws and it didn’t disappoint. Unlike other local Thai’s, the menu is more catered towards western tastes but the food and service did not disappoint. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area and would also advise to make a reservation and not just turn up as it gets very busy.”
“Beautiful Chinease amazing food and what lovely people would 100% recommend can’t wait for next time”
“pleased to see this pub open its doors again — and it’s better than ever! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a great mix of traditional charm and fresh energy. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely excellent — beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and generous portions that offer real value for money. You can tell there’s real care and pride going into the menu. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual drink or a full meal, this place delivers on every level. Great food, great atmosphere, and fantastic value — so good to have this gem back in the community! Highly recommended.”
“Best potatoe chips evers! Hot polite lady serving as well”
“Had a takeaway food good but chicken too large pieces but sheek kebabs very good I have eaten in Birmingham and the food is very good and tasty well worth a visit 5 star”
“I've lived near Crich for 4 years and have only just got round to eating here. My brother and I arrived early and were worried we'd be the only ones eating there. How wrong we were! Within about half an hour, every table was taken. It's clearly a family business, and everyone at front of house is really lovely and friendly. The real winner here though, is the food. Presentation is absolutely top notch, the portions are generous (we brought some home in a doggy bag!) and the flavours are exquisite. I don't know who the chef is, but they clearly care about food and their art. We REALLY enjoyed our visit here, and will definitely be back. I feel quite lucky that such a great restaurant is located in this sleepy little village - and the rest of the locals clearly feel the same.”
“Best sangria I’ve ever had! Really sweet location next to the river. We didn’t book and just came for drinks and got a seat straight away. The staff were nice. Definitely coming back for more sangria!!”
