βIt was a pleasure to have walked the length of the nature reserve. I went there right after dropping my wee ones at school on a Thursday morning. Most people were nice and exchanged brief hellos. Several people were out with their dogs, I saw a family having a birthday hangout with their kids, a couple of runners and cyclists, and some squirrels. Very large and indeed well reserved.β
βLove walking here. So does the dog! Coffee shop is good too!β
βA fantastic place if you ever wanna visit Edinburgh, great value for money, clean, modern, walking distance to many places.β
βFirst visit with my seven year old retriever having just moved from my previous Vet. Very happy with the service we received. Everyone could not have been more pleasant, helpful and appeared interested in both my dog and I. The Vet gave my dog a thorough checkup and asked lots of relevant questions to gain a full picture of my dogs health and any concerns that I may have going forward.β
βI've been coming to Efi now for a while. Lovely salon. Very welcoming and great service. I normally come every 3 months for my colour and cut to be done. I have Finally found a place I like, the results always come out lovely and I always leave happy. I would totally recommend. Laura xxβ
βWe moved to Braid Vets after a bad experience somewhere else. The staff are always lovely, attentive and considerate. Every vet we have seen has been knowledgeable and informative. We feel very happy having our two cats and dog here.β
βAfternoon tea for four. One was gluten free (allergies). We made use of the Wowcher offer to try this out and really were not disappointed. For those in the know, coeliacs is not the easiest of food to get right but the chef at the Braid Hills Hotel completely smashed it! My daughter was delighted with the quality of the food that she was served, as were we all. My son-in-law raved about the haggis bites, which was good because he was able to eat mine (haggis, yuck, lol but it's just not for everyone). The smoked salmon pate was, however, delicious. Now lets get down to the sweet treats. Wow! Again, my daughter was so pleased with the home made scone, scones are notorious at the best of times, but take the gluten out and you will struggle to get them as light as these were! All of the food was truly lovely. Food wise I would put it up there with some of the best in Edinburgh, however the dining room was maybe not up there. That said, it was very far from being bad, I would say that it was simply average. Please remember though, the cost of this, even without a Wowcher deal, was so much lower than "the best in Edinburgh" so for the food to match that standard what's not to like. All I am saying is that if you are looking for swanky, this is not the place, also, if you are looking for a greasy spoon this is not the place. If you are, however, looking for a place that is warm and welcoming, you have found your little piece of heaven. Service though, wow, we had an Asian waiter, was he from India? certainly somewhere around there, I only say because I did not get his name and would really love for management to know what an absolute gem he was. So warm and welcoming and extremely attentive from the minute we arrived until we left. Oh,and, not on the menu for the afternoon tea was some red lentil soup that the chef sent out with compliments to us, we all agreed we would have been extremely happy to order that had we been dining there, maybe next time. Yes, next time, there most certainly will be a next time.β
βOur family celebrated a 90th birthday today in the Library. We could not fault the service we received from the staff. The choices from the menu were all enjoyed and were attractively presented. We highly recommend this venue for a special occasion. Thankyou to allβ

βThe Lodge Coffee House β A Caffeinated Trip into the Surreal Nestled in the caffeinated underbelly of Edinburgh lies The Lodge Coffee House, a stone sanctum where time sips itself backwards and espresso machines hum ancient jazz riffs. Upon entering, we were greeted by Mick, a man forged from equal parts kindness, bacon, and 80's nostalgia. Like a caffeinated Gandalf, he emerged from the steam with eyes full of welcome and hands full of bacon barms. He threw them at us, not aggressively, but like a benevolent goblin flinging gifts at chosen mortals. The coffee.... the coffee. Brewed by a barista who may have once been a shaman, the flat white shared secrets. The atmosphere, like being hugged by a velvet bear in a log cabin built by monks who understand everything. We had a chat with Mick about life, meat, and the nature of gravy. At one point, he levitated slightly while describing his sausage procurement strategy. The location is prime, trees bowed politely as we sipped. In short, The Lodge is not just a coffee house. Itβs a mystical experience wrapped in cured meat and friendliness. Five out of five cosmic beans. Would definitely go again.β
