“Great place to stop for a break. The coffee was very good, and the cake was delicious. We sat outside with our dogs, which was perfect. The inside isn’t dog-friendly, but the outdoor seating is great if you have pets. The staff were very friendly and welcoming—the man who served us had a big smile, which made the visit even nicer. Highly recommended if you’re near Holyrood Palace!”

“Yesterday 10 minutes before store closing time I purchased some food items and tobacco, I was in a hurry, so when I reached my home I discovered that I forgot my tobacco. I actually lost all my hopes to get it back, I called the store this morning and a very kind gentleman, said that he will look into cameras and will call me back. I had a call back in 10 minutes and my tobacco pouch was found and it was handed to me with a big smile. Thank you very much.”

“I organised an afternoon tea in this restaurant on 27 June for a group of 21 people from a church group. From beginning to end the experience exceeded my expectations. The booking process was so easy, and the managers I spoke to on the phone (Marco and Rebecca) couldn’t have been more helpful. We were given a separate room, which was great for a group event, and when we arrived we were delighted to find that it was beautifully laid out with flowers on the table and on the windowsill and there was a lovely outlook to a garden area outside. Rebecca was very welcoming and friendly when we arrived and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. The staff helping her were all equally helpful and pleasant. The afternoon tea itself exceeded our expectations. Delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes, and lovely thoughtful touches like strawberries and blueberries dotted around the cakes. The food was exceptional value for money - more than we could eat, and the staff kindly gave us little brown paper carrier bags to take home leftovers. Having such a lovely setting and such pleasant, helpful staff (not to mention the delicious food!) really added to the atmosphere and we had a wonderful afternoon. All in all, this was an extra special experience - top marks to the staff!”

“This was a very friendly place. Originally went to Tesco but they had discounted prices for members but you had to buy more than one and be a member. They weren't helpful at all so I was happy to spend my money in this friendly coop. There seemed to be more customers here as well and the bakery at the back was very busy. Fantastic selection of Scottish whisky and wine. All reasonably priced.”

“Strategically located near the Edinburgh Waverley station, this cafe opens quite early and offers drinks and cakes to refresh your morning time. Plenty of seats but can be very busy after 10am. Come early if you want a more quiet atmosphere. Drinks are okay, bakery is nice. Prices are okay considerin its location, maybe targeted to travellers as well. But seems quite popular for the city dwellers to come in group or individually.”
