“Our first time staying at this apartment but have previously stayed at their other apartments a few in Glasgow and as they were this one did not disappoint. Great location everything a couple minutes walk out the door. Many lovely restaurants of all choices to choose from. The apartment itself was lovely, spacious, clean and had everything you needed. Gorgeous bathroom and a lovely big shower. The bed was soo comfy and a nice big size. Would 100% recommend to anyone staying in the city for a couple days.”

As soon as we arrived, his warm welcome, delicious hot tea prepared for us, and the cozy, romantic aura of the house made us feel at home. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was prepared freshly that morning with options including vegetarian and traditional Scottish. Would glady stay here again and recommend it to anyone!”

“MBH hosted our exhibition for 3 months last winter, and we thoroughly recommend it as an exhibition and event venue. Elegant, clean, and full of heritage. Thanks to the possibility to exhibit in the corridor as well as the exhibition room, our artworks were seen by everyone who entered the building. The large hall and the garden room are suitable for different kinds of events, too. We particularly appreciated Aurora's attention to detail and her understanding of accessibility needs, and everyone's (workers and volunteers) hospitality and can-do attitude. Ideal hosts.”

    House for an Art Lover

    ★★★★☆ 4.6

“I lovely visit, and an arts & crafts fayre. The upstairs coffee shop was a wee bit disorganised, but coffee and cake were nice. Then the bus I was travelling in got stuck on the road out. Nothing to do directly with the House of an Art Lover. A football enthusiast parked badly on the one way out system and we couldn't get passed. We were stuck for over 2 hours. Lack of traffic wardens did add to the issue. That apart, it was a lovely visit to the House.”

“A great wee hotel by the park in the West End of Glasgow, in easy reach of venues and restaurants. Was welcomed warmly on arrival, and the room was of a higher standard than I expected for the price. I opted for the full breakfast which was well worth it, and overall found the Acorn Hotel comfortable, clean, and very good value for this part of town. Will stay again when visiting.”

“Hotels located in a really lovely & quiet spot right next to where the canal meets the Clyde. The place was just as nice on the inside with absolutely charming bedrooms, hallways & residents lounge. We booked 3 rooms and all had a fantastic nights sleep. The rooms are appointed with everything needed for a restful sleep and the entire hotel was immaculately clean throughout. All of us commented how good the shower pressure was too. Will definitely be returning whenever we’re visiting the area!!”

The House is surrounded by the beautiful Calendar Park, featuring dense, mature tree growth, including both very large coniferous and deciduous trees. It is an ideal spot to relax, enjoy the tranquility, and admire the surrounding nature and landscapes. “As part of a guided tour, we were brought to this location. The weather was rainy, with dark clouds overhead and mild temperatures, which lent a certain atmosphere to the experience. However, the fountain itself was not operational at the time of our visit. The fountain, crafted from terracotta, features numerous intricate and impressive details that reflect the high level of craftsmanship involved in its creation. According to the nearby signage, it is regarded as one of the finest examples of terracotta fountain design in the world.”

“My dad and I came here on a Saturday night with no booking. I wouldn’t suggest that but we were lucky to be accommodated and seated right away, even though it was very busy! We got a seat in the back room, which ended up clearing out and we had all to ourselves. The ambiance is perfect with nice lighting and great tunes. We ordered two kebabs, two curries, two rices, a few drinks and a plain naan. The garlic lamb bhuna has a bit of a kick but had so much flavor, and the lamb was perfectly cooked. The railway chicken was comforting, with big pieces of chicken (flavored fairly similar to a butter chicken). Although the seekh kebab was my favorite - with peppered, tender lamb and a mint sauce paired with pickled onions and peppers! The chicken kebab was a little too chargrilled for me but still packed a punch of flavor with the same sauce. My preference for naan is to be bready and soft, while this one was a bit too crispy for me. We had a cider and lager each, then split the earl grey ginlet, which was an interesting cocktail. It had more lime than early grey but was still pleasant to try. Their cocktail selection is unique, with various options I’ve never come across before! I’ve been here a few times and the service is always great. The servers are kind and frequently check on you. I will come back again with more friends and family!”

“A lovely, dog friendly restaurant with a varied menu to suit many tastes. The house wine was lovely as were the meals. We dined very early, so it was fairly quiet and we were lucky to get so much attention from the staff .... especially our dog who was made a real fuss of. The food was well cooked and just what we expected with good portions. My wife's vegetarian meal looked wonderful and she said it tasted really good. We would certainly go there again.”
