“Fresh, delicious and bursting with flavour! Everything we tried was just excellent. The experience was completed with fantastic service from the wonderful staff. Could not fault this excellent restaurant, 10/10 dining experience. Very highly recommended!”
“This is a tiny three table restaurant. People had come all over to eat. We went becuase of the fabulous reviews. The Yemeni food is authentic, beautifully cooked and tasty. Not a huge menu but it absolutely packs a punch. We had the 2 person sharing platter which featured lamb and chicken on a bed of rice. The meat fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. We got the dessert to go! Strongly recommend this restaurant if you appreciate authentic well cooked food. And the price… complete value for money if not too cheap!”
“The food was fantastic. Service was impeccable, friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Prices were more than fair for the quality delivered. This is a restaurant that takes pride in its craft, going above and beyond to exceed expectations. A true standout, wholeheartedly recommended!”
“Visited here as part of York Restaurant Week. That chicken mandi was unbelievably tasty, can tell the right amount of seasoning was used. I could see the restaurant owner adjusting the lights to enhance the dining atmosphere, which I find very nice. I also had a soup with a spicy kick to it. Like others have commented, I never tried Yemeni food so made it even better.”
“Just had lunch here before our train home after a weekend in York and this is quite possibly my favourite meal so far! Absolutely delicious and lovely, friendly service.”
“Enjoyed a quick lunch here before setting off from York. We had the shawarma wrap and plate which were delicious, especially with the garlic and chilli sauces. To start we had the hummus and moussaka which had incredible flavours. The staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely visit again.”
“Great food that never disappoints. The quality is always great. The grills are tender and delicious. The portions are quite large. The staff are really friendly and they always go the extra mile. A true gem.”
“Had a lovely tapas meal serviced by the friendly staff. Food was excellent and lots of interesting taste experiences. Lovely cosy restaurant with attentive staff. Can throughly recommend”
“As we are huge fans of Turkish food, we visited Yakamoz during our recent visit to York. The food here is some of the nicest we have eaten to be honest. We go to a Turkish restaurant in Liverpool a lot as we love the food there and we never thought that we would eat better Turkish food in the UK, but Yakamoz is just as good, it is lovely! It is a great restaurant on Goodramgate so not far from the Minster or The Shambles. It is well decorated, very clean and every member of the service team we met were lovely. The prices are more than fair as well we thought, especially as it is of a good, high quality. I had the Tavuk Sis and my partner had the mini grill. The chicken on my Tavuk Sis was still moist and well chargrilled. It was very flavourful and the accompanying salad was lovely and fresh and the rice was well cooked. The mini grill also went down a treat and everything that I sampled from it was gorgeous. You also receive a complimentary bread when you are seated which is very nice indeed, especially when it is first served and is piping hot. The sauce that comes with the bread is also very nice, not spicy at all, just a nice back end heat. If you are a fan of Turkish food and in York, you will not go wrong visiting Yakamoz, highly recommended indeed.”
“Great hidden spot. Did expect much but was very surprised by the quality of the food, good shisha flavours and exceptional customer service from the man behind the counter and of course lovely Italian lady who was taking care of us. Sorry, next time I will get your names ha Highly recommended this place. See you soon x”
“Took my parents here for their first Turkish meal. The service was lovely and friendly, the food was very tasty (and the set menu was a huge amount of food!) and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Plus trying Turkish wine for the first time was good too. Will be back!”
“Fabulous dining experience. Delicious food, delightful service and great value. Will definitely be returning soon”
“I went here last week for a birthday meal and it was great! Great service, pretty environment and very friendly staff! We were welcomed and seated pretty much as soon as we walked in and the waiting time for the food was decent! Zara who was serving us was lovely, such a great service! We weren’t waiting too long and the food was also really good. The burger I had was delicious and the fries were good too! I especially loved the little pot of sauce that came with the meal! The meal was also beautifully presented! Very friendly and welcoming place that serves really nice food! Definitely recommend :)”
“Delicious fresh food! Tasty kebabs & all our food came out hot. We would certainly recommend. Friendly staff with great customer service.”
“Visited Leeds, messaged a local mate for lunch recommendations & was ordered here. Absolutely beltin' want to come back. Would highly recommend! The owner just chilling out chatting to customers as we arrived explaining the menu was nice as well. I didn't even know what a super char was nor have I seen anyone dip into the lamb juices and that is mega!”
“Regularly visit here. Good place with a variety of options. Halal friendly. Quality meats. Usually get a mixed shawarma or sandwich. Service is always good here and situated in a busy area and close to the city centre”
“Arrived at 5.30 as we needed to dine early doors so not too much atmosphere. The server was very pleasant and not overbearing. Food was great and well presented. Will be returning in the future.”
“Today was my first time trying falafel guys and I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be visiting again! I usually find falafel to be hit and miss, but these were the best I’ve ever had - they make, press and cook them right in front of you. These had a nice crispy crust that I’ve not had before. I ordered the Falafel and Halloumi salad box which cost £6. The portion sizes were really perfect - very filling but no food wastage either. My only downside it that they didn’t offer me a pickled chilli (but I very easily could have asked for one so that’s very minor). The service was excellent, they were very friendly and chatty but also fast so I didn’t wait long (4 mins max). They gave me a loyalty card and generously gave me 4 stamps! I would love it if there was a place that I could eat closer to there so I could have the falafel fresh off the press and meet up with friends there at lunch (as my office is 20 mins away) however with the location that isn’t doable so I’ll likely be trying their northern market stall. In summary, the food was excellent. I’ll be going back with friends and family. The pricing is really reasonable with good portion sizes. The perfect treat lunch!”
“Absolutely beautiful food. One of the freshest takeaway meals I've eaten recently. The falafel mezze was superb; I'm not vegetarian but wanted a meat free evening, so I'll try the meat options next time. Thank you so much for my delicious dinner!”
“We have recently moved to Leeds from West Midlands where Middle Eastern is absolutely incredible and we've been looking to find something good here. And I believe we have found it now! Food is delicious here, the flavours are on point!”
“Please read. Bit long but it's true..This was my first visit. Amazing food. I have been staying in Barnard Castle since few months. which is quite a drive from Darlington. I was really searching for a halal restaurant. And guess what I found the best place. To be honest they accept only cash. But I wasn't having cash as I didn't know about it. To my surprise the staff told me to order and pay later. Therefore I ordered food I had the food and when I went to the till to pay online to his account. Believe me he said my food was free. I mean I was really surprised to see that. I wasn't even carrying any cards to withdraw the money. So I humbly told him I will come back and pay the cash next time. But he replied that I don't pay. It's fine. I was feeling so happy and also very strange as no does this in today's world.”
“My stomach cried out for food as I walked through the cold streets of manchester. My weary legs buckled underneath the weight of my body, unable to carry me any further. My eyes desperately looked for something to pacify my overwhelming hunger. And there it was. My salvation. The warm glow from the building beckoned me inside. My hand made contact with the cool glass door. As I pushed it open I was immediately embraced by an appetising smell. I closed my eyes and deeply inhaled the mouth watering aroma. My eyes scanned the menu hung up on the wall. I stared longingly at the tantalising choices that lay before me. Eventually, I settled on a falafel wrap and a salad box. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only was my food prepared incredibly quickly but the price was extremely good. I took note of the fact that eating in was not an option in this small falafel shop and skipped outside, content with my purchase. I wasted no time and quickly began to eat. Each mouthful was like kiss sent down from heaven. There will never be enough words in the world that will be able to describe the delightful taste of a perfectly hand crafted Go Falafel meal. This was not the first time I have visited Go Falafel and it certainly won’t be the last.”
“Absolutely delicious food. We ordered baba ghanoush, haftsin special and bakhtiari. The grilled food was cooked to perfection- beautifully seasoned and juicy. The saffron rice was tasty and the nan bread was one of the best that i’ve tasted. This is easily the best middle eastern food i have ever had. I would definitely come again if i drop by in Leeds in the future.”
“Lovely place with a deal i think is not expensive for two courses. Fresh and relaxed place”
“Great food, I order pretty regularly and I have never had a bad meal. Delivery is always accurate and the drivers are friendly.”
“Such a lovely place! We shared falafel wrap, Baba ganoush and dolma. We ate at the bar and received complementary tea. V friendly, thank you!”
“Loved this place. They were very accommodating & the food was fantastic. I will always try the vegetable lentil soup. It was 10/10. Thank you.”
“Having visited the pop-up restaurant twice, I would definitely recommend Yahala Mataam. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is warm and welcome and Rob and the team are fab too. Looking forward to visiting for a third time in June!”
