“Without a doubt, the best pub in Leeds City Centre. Amazing staff, who are always singing, dancing, smiling and willing to go the extra mile! The new landlord is the most down to Earth chap I’ve ever met. Loving the live music from the DJ on a Saturday, at the best free party in Leeds. Great selection of beers and spirits. 100 percent, get yourself down!”

“Nice spacious pub, cool on a hot day. Quick service and drinks reasonably priced. The pub and toilets were clean. Didn't use the outside area.”

“Used to be The Highwayman. The new owners have dragged this pub out of the 1980s. It is now a semi-upmarket public house facing the Valley Gardens selling quality beers, woodfired pizza and other bar snacks. Impressed. Not the cheapest place in Pontefract but you get what you pay for.”

“The food has always been absolutely fine here, the prices are fab - absolutely can not complain but when you’re ordering you need to speak to Elyshi R (name on my receipt) because honestly she has made my visit! I swear she was made to work in hospitality, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much while ordering food, and I’ve definitely never played charades while explaining what I want. “Came here for a family meal, This pub is very inviting, warm, cosy and friendly. Food portions are very good and well priced. The only thing they didn't have today was ice cream for the desserts but overall very nice.”

“Food was absolutely fantastic, especially the Quadzilla burger. One from the menu that you must try, but be warned, it's massive. Sweet potatoes fries is another absolutely must try, if you want something different from the ordinary. Monsoon Kiss mocktails is another favourite which is just refreshing. Lawnswood Arms is one of our favourite place to grab a burger, nachos and grill.”

“A much needed meal after a long day, and Millfield Beefeater delivered. We went for the steak and the hunters chicken from the 8 pound menu, alongside a crispy beef side. Everything was served hot, tasted fresh, and was well prepared. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Very good value and a spot we’ll happily return to.”

“Greeted with a smile by friendly staff who were only too happy to take us to our reserved table. They asked if we had any special requirements, allergies etc. They were so attentive throughout, we were allowed to eat our meals in peace without being disturbed. The only downside to the evening was the fact my husband has sensory issues which we were catered for by way of a quiet area but some adults allowed their children to run around screaming which made us leave early. The staff and manager were in no way to blame for this as it is a family friendly establishment but it would have been nice if the parents of the children showed a little respect for others dining this evening. “Really beautiful old hotel. Room was spacious, clean and bathroom well stocked. Staff were really friendly. We were a walkin and ended up staying an extra night. Location is great for the town and of course the paking was a real bonus because of prices of street parking in the other hotels. Highly recommend.”

“Excellent few hours of lunchtime menu options available for the winter months, nice and warm in winter and next to the Canal and outside seating available in the summer. Good lunch menu choices and drinks options to have at various times of day. Looking forward to meeting with friends here again later on in the season.”

“A warm welcome when we came, the bed was comfy, not much around the motel cafe open 24 hours, burger takeaway next door, or a very nice Indian Ali's Lounge restaurant up the road. Full English for breakfast was very nice, no grease on the plate”

“Been going here for comedy nights for a few years now and love it. Always a good evening. They seem to have messed around with times of shows a bit and they start quite early now. Maybe some food would be good to help the early evening. Though regardless as far as comedy is concerned this is a great place”

“I didn't stay at the hotel so I could t comment on any of the rooms. However I did have my wedding reception in the bar. Nathan was the bar staff and wow how great is he. Lots of conversation lovely and kind. Stuck to covid rules and guidelines but still made sure our evening was as wonderful as it could be. Was attentive and made sure we had everything needed. Allowed us to control what music we had and didn't complain at us once. The bar was lovely was decorated perfectly for us before hand. Let us take our own buffet and just made our evening the best experience. If you're just wanting a quiet casual drink or somewhere to go on a night out, are having a function and just want a nice drink I would highly recommend this place. Nathan is great and will do his best tk meet your needs honestly the best time I've had and not just because it was our wedding but because of wnathan and the George thank you so much!!”

“A completely unspoiled pub with no pretension whatsoever. If you’re into the Sam’s ethos of no phones and quality beer at an affordable price it’s worth a stop. Absolutely not a pub for families or for anyone after anything other than an old fashioned old school boozer experience. Visit was at lunch time. Only saw downstairs bar.”
