“Really nice pub with outdoor seating and cosy inside”
“Called in on saturday on the way home. They had a fantastic band on”
“Probably the best place for food and entertainment in Wakefield. Honestly you'll not be disappointed. Hidden gem of a place”
“Great pub owned by my brother(this doesn't sway my review) if you are in town grab a pint, you'll be in good hands”
“What an amazing Sunday lunch we both had the lamb dinner it was cooked to perfection looked wonderful with a lovely garnish to top it off. The service was second to none. Thank you the red kite and all your team. We will definitely be back”
“Great place. Had a good night try the karaoke. Just go for the music. Believe me you will enjoy yourself”
“Didn’t eat here, but came for a drink with a Group of friends, Molly behind the bar was so kind and so helpful one in a kind !”
“Service was very good, food was excellent and reasonably priced. Had a table for 2 on Saturday evening and had a really good time. Its been recently refurbished and they've done a great job of it. There's the bar area upstairs if you only want drinks or the restaurant downstairs if you're dining out, both refurbished to a high standard. Would definitely recommend paying a visit”
“At bottom of Westgate this small bar has great atmosphere. Good quality beer at reasonable price. A number of small rooms plus beer garden. We'll worth visit friendly staff.”
“What's not to like? Unspoiled just as a pub should be where the only noise is conversation. Superb beer, friendly staff. Some of you may be wondering why I've rated 'food' as five stars.........Simple, delicious free pork pie on the bar. The Star is an oasis in a desert, a 'one off' traditional pub, long may this continue.”
“Sam the best bartender in Wakefield so welcoming”
“It was the first time we've been for pie night and it didn't disappoint. The slice of pie was as big as the welcome we received from the friendly polite staff. The food quality was amazing and if you like your pies full of meat you'll love this place. The kids enjoyed their food and cleared their plates as quick as we did, they even asked to come again and for £3 for pie and £3/£2 for fries, mash or veg well definitely be coming again soon.”
“Food looked excellent although we didn't try it, the sharing platter for 2 and 4 people looked really nice and empty plates so must have been good. Relaxed open outside seating area, good music, we could chat without being disturbed by others or usual loud music. Just a really great clean place.”
“Amazing Christmas dinner for work! Emily made sure everything was done properly and we felt well looked after. I will be back!”
“Absolutely amazing, staff were great, place was great and even accommodated a large party on short notice of another venue letting us down. Would recommend to anyone for drinks, food or bookings!! You don't get business owners in public houses like this anymore, Sam, Sharon and the team are a cut above the rest!”
“Great small traditional pub. We were in the left side which I think was the Lounge. Very clean and tidy, drinks were a great price with plenty of deals on too. Can’t comment on food as we didn’t have any but the menu looked great with a decent selection and also the prices were pretty decent. Plenty of parking outside too The lady behind the bar was very nice and friendly too which was lovely”
“We were greeted by lovely, friendly staff on arrival and instantly loved the décor. But of course, we came for the pies we’d heard so much about – and they did not disappoint! I had the garlic chicken and mushroom pie with mash and peas, and it was absolutely delicious. My partner went for the minted lamb pie with dumplings, mash, and peas, and he was just as impressed. The food is home-cooked, full of flavour, and very reasonably priced. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to again!”
“The Deep Drop is a really nice pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I really recommend both this pub and the Doombar Amber Ale that they serve here. If you like ale you won't be disappointed!”
“Great little Bar in Wakefield, great for live music and ger togethers with friends. Nice Meals upstairs also & great beer.”
“Lovely place great selection of drinks friendly staff very welcoming lovely and clean throughly enjoyed”
“Famed for their burgers, it was great to see they had a plant-powered menu with a large selection of options! Myself obviously going for the “Hey Hot Stuff” which was a @movingmountainsfoods patty, vegan cheese, jalapeños, roquito chillies, onion rings, spicy vegan mayo and the usual burger toppings. There’s a good selection of sides too, but what won it for me was the Vegan Duck Loaded Fries! Quacking with flavour, the ‘duck’ was succulent and tender! Smothered with juicy hoisin sauce and topped hoisin mayo, toasted sesame seeds, spring onions and red chillies. I would happily return here just to gutbash on the fries alone! And there’s few venues up and down the country, including London, Leeds and Manchester. Real messy but so worth it!”
“Called for a pint after walking from town. Karaoke evening. Nice Carling.”
“Very clean. Friendly staff, would recommend this place. Just a shame they don't do food”
“Had a great time everyone very friendly .”

“Good quality cheap drinks. Nice beer garden. Tesco over the road for cheap bags of crisps. What more could you want?”
“Change of name from Ruby Lous to The Patio I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Patio, and I can confidently say it's a hidden gem in the city. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The menu offers a wide variety of options, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate. The cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable, creating a pleasant and hygienic dining atmosphere. The staff were fantastic – friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure a great experience for all guests. One of the standout aspects of The Patio is its cost-effectiveness. Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for both casual meals and special occasions. Moreover, The Patio goes above and beyond in accommodating everyone, including people with special needs. The restaurant is fully accessible, and the staff are trained and ready to assist with any specific requirements. Overall, The Patio is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. With its delectable food, pristine environment, superb staff, and inclusive approach, it truly offers an exceptional dining experience. Highly recommended!”
