“Food is best in Runcorn - fresh proper cooking. Very flavourful. The soft tacos are amazing, loaded fries and burgers all better than most big city places. Chips are some of best I've had anywhere. Staff are super friendly and food is cooked quick whilst still being top quality. Great atmosphere for drinking and cocktails always nice, good variety of drinks, great atmosphere. Always doing takeout food at the weekend as a treat and food value compared to others in Runcorn”

“I was super lucky and won 4 free roast dinners on a Facebook contest and I have to say it’s one of the best prizes I’ve ever won. Took my nana and grandad as a little treat and the dinners were just amazing. We had the beef and the meat literally fell apart it was so tender. Considering our entire meal was free the portion was extremely generous and we were actually too full for the free dessert and ended up taking the food home. Staff were very polite and friendly, we were sat on a window table and had exceptional views despite it being a really rainy day. They were very busy and still had time to accommodate us despite not being paying customers. The whole experience was lovely and couldn’t fault the food at all. We can’t wait to go back ❤️”

“Wonderful pub with a great atmosphere! The prices are VERY reasonable and it's always busy but not so busy that you struggle getting a drink or a place to sit. The people there are very friendly and welcoming as are the owners who are exceptional and often organise entertainment and other fun events. Highly recommended.”

“We hadn’t been to the Anchor for a while and decided to take advantage of a Premium Country Pub (app) “buy one main course, get one free” offer. The restaurant was busy (probably due to the offer) but relaxed, welcoming, warm and comfortable at the same time. We ordered king prawn, crab and chorizo pasta and a prime burger with a buttermilk chicken fillet added. (After pondering “beef or chicken burger?” for a while this was a great solution for only £3 extra.) The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Our complements to the management, the chef(s) and personally to Emily, Kerry and Cameroon for both going the extra mile while looking after us.”

Always busy with lots of functions and parties this place is a great night out and a brilliant family pub of a day too! Can't beat an old fashioned local pub and atmosphere....EVER! Well done will and Sue and staff....always get our vote.”
