“With a background in kaiseki, Chef Yasu’s cooking always carries a strong sense of seasonality. This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. The restaurant focuses on ageing, and the highlights were unmistakably the scallop and squid. Although Japanese ingredients in China are far superior to London’s in general, the flavour developed from this ice-water ageing technique was surprisingly deep and expressive. Inaniwa Udon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Intense katsuobushi umami with a touch of sudachi’s bright sweet–sour freshness. Hand Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp nori, creamy minced tuna, rich and silky — packed with pure umami. “Ended up here spontaneously on our second date, and it turned out to be the best decision because wow, the food did not disappoint. We ordered the Meat Supreme, and it was incredibly crispy without being too doughy. I genuinely wish I could experience that first bite all over again. The ranch sauce was a bit rich on its own, so something spicy to cut through it would’ve been perfect. The turnover is quite fast, as people tend to eat and leave, so seating wasn’t an issue even on a Saturday. The staff were also really friendly. I can’t wait to come back.”

“Really great Indian food. All the meat was high quality and cooked perfectly. Curries were full of flavour and a nice consistency. The onion Bhajis were probably the best I’ve ever had. Staff were very attentive without being intrusive and pricing was very fair for the quality and portion sizes. We will definitely be back!”

“A very wonderful experience in a Nepalese restaurant was what I was looking for! I could find the authentic taste of the Newari set which was full of flavours. The sekuwa was juicy and flavoursome. The taste of momo was just like the momo in Nepal. The food service was very quick. The staffs were very kind and polite to us, especially Poonam who was helping us! Loved the hospitality. “I didn’t notice there was such a good, authentic chinese restaurant at elephant and castle. it easily became one of my favourites, with actual high quality chinese food. it was so good we couldn’t help but order more despite being so full!! the wonton soup is a must try (you could request for noodles with it). the salt baked french beans was new to me but so delicious and refreshing. the shrimp in kung po sauce was amazing (and authentic too). the crab fried rice was my favourite tho, the dryness of the dish was just right. finally they gave us desserts on the house, the chocolate cake was really good, not too spongey nor too sweet.”

“This is a perfect place...buzzy trattoria style downstairs with a great bar, lively outdoor seating and a beautiful bar. And white table clothes, proper dining room upstairs. The front of house service is polite and efficient, the star is the food and it shines. The entire menu looks excellent. We had the homemade Ragu, homemade pasta, it was superb. We also ordered a picannte pizza which was expertly made, like you'd eat in Napoli. We also shared zucchini fritti and a side salad which were both well done. Simple, good food. This will become a regular. It's tops.”

“We LOVED using these boats in London. This was our preferred mode of transportation. The lines moved pretty quickly, it just depends on how early you make it there. And how late in the day it is (sometimes they would be behind schedule and have to leave early) The only negative was that the experience varied every time. Sometimes there would be a tour, and sometimes not. Overall would recommend, though. A great way to see the city.”

In a time when LGBTQ+ spaces are disappearing, Eagle is more important than ever. It’s the perfect mix of cool nostalgia, good ol’ flirting, and fresh, welcoming vibes. The crowd was fun, the energy was great, and the whole night just had that special something that’s hard to find elsewhere. So glad I came back—and I’ll definitely be back again soon!”
