    Friends Cafe Within Ealing Hospital

    ★★★★☆ 4.4
    Closed

“This place surely isn't the biggest or most privately contained cafe in a hospital, but that really is the beauty of it. Run by volunteers, these people were wonderful to talk to, and not only to see them with the choice to dedicate this time, but simply considering how long some have lived for (e.g. age 92), and how good their health is. Onto the actual cafe! The price of food here from sandwiches to cafe drinks is the type of reasonable I am expecting and am so happy to see, when comparing to such, including the Costa in the hospital. In my opinion that includes the range of cakes, biscuits and bars too! Having my [veg] sandwhich toasted made it extra fulfilling, and the cappuccino was super! And it gets better: All profits made, go to a certain division of the hospital. More people should visit this cafe to appreciate the efforts devoted by volunteers here. Hospitals should have more affordable, lovingly run cafe's like this! Obviously that doesn't even have to be as a patient!”

“Went in for beers and not disappointed. This pub was my local for a few years and it has always been a good pub. They have redecorated and the pub looks better and has more comfortable seating. The lager is great! The lines are looked after and the point is as fresh as you like. Staff are friendly and the clientele are pleasant too. This its possibly one of the cheapest pubs around with a pint costing £4.20-4.80 roughly (can't remember precisely).”

“I guess this is a pub frequented by the locals as everyone seemed to know each other very well. We ordered tea followed by main courses. The chef here can really conjure up a wonderful meal. The vegetarian choice was really delicious, full of flavour and perfectly presented. The sunday roast was so gigantic in portion size! Really highly recommend trying the food menu. The tea we ordered was unfortunately tepid, rather disappointing but hey it wouldn't deter me from coming back. Good choice of pub deserving of it's high rating. Oh and its dog friendly which is a super big bonus..”

“Lovely and busy pub, even on a Tuesday evening. The staff is nice. Food was great. Milanese chicken was really delicious. And the padron pepper! I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself, so well done! Dessert was lovely - they did split it up for us into 2 plates as we were sharing 1. It looked so tempting.”

Cask beer was lovely and keg beer choice was good too. The wine wasn't any good but it never is in a pub. We stayed for 2-3 hours so that says something.”

“We first visited this Knights Bridge Pub because it was recommended by our Hotel staff at the Rembrant. It was a Friday night and it was buzzing with locals after work. We found a table, checked the classic pub fare and stepped up to the bar and placed our order for fish and chips, a pint of the black stuff and a glass of wine. The bar keeper delivered a perfectly poured Guinness and glass of wine. Dinner arrived shortly and it was a lovely piece of cod, with a light batter. The chips were thick cut, the tarter sauce made on site, tangy and complimentary. Reasonably priced and we both said, we'll come back. Two days later after walking for hours we returned for afternoon drinks, much less busy, but the same warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. On our last evening, three days later we returned to enjoy our last dinner in Knights Bridge. My wife had the fish and chips again and I had their Bacon and cheese Burger. I don't often give a 5 star for food, but here it is well deserved. I highly recommend this classic English pub. Great service and quality, commendations to the staff front and back, and to the owners maintaining such a high level.”

“Rang 8am on Friday morning on behalf of my husband who was in terrible pain with a swollen face, was offered emergency appointment 2 hours later as a new patient! Many thanks to Reem the receptionist for fitting us in so quickly and to Dr. Aksa the dentist for her swift assessment and prescribing of much needed antibiotics. (Apologies if I have misspelt names!) Her chair side manner was excellent and my husband felt very reassured by her advice. Happy to say my husbands symptoms are much improved and we look forward to returning to the practice for full check up and treatment. Kind Regards, Melissa and Andrej Bartos”
