“This is a fantastic pub. They were able to cater a large event (60 people) at very short notice. The food was delicious and the staff were absolutely lovely - nothing was too much trouble! “A fabulous pub. Despite being hemmed in by the continuing high rise building that the dreadful council allow to make this once fine city as ugly as possible, this gem retains its character. It was around during the Peterloo Massacre and injured were brought there for treatment. It serves some fine real ales, has an extensive beers garden, comfortable interior and a room with some excellent United photos and memorabilia. Well worth a visit.”

“A real upscale place! Fabulous spacious bar with plenty of seating and large screens, lovely clean room for 3 adults sharing. Not a lot of parking but that was the only complaint. Fabulous breakfast too, even swapped out my egg for black pudding which not everywhere will do. Great and also close to other bars and Horwich centre - about a mile walk to the Bolton Wanderers ground.”

However, I’m giving it 4 stars because although the food was excellent, we had to ask for our drinks as they weren’t ready, which meant a bit of a wait. “Last minute booking to stay the night. I wanted good pub food, comfortable bedroom and great service whilst being able to watch the football. This is what I got. Jordan behind the bar offered great service, Emma and Beth served me my food and Keira checked me into the hotel and constantly was checking i was happy and asking if she could help. Excellent service throughout. Greene King have a great team here.”

“Out and about in Manchester with Albrecht. Have not been in this non real ale pub in many years but fancied a pint of Guinness. A very good choice. Albrecht had a pint of Estrella. £12.20 for the two pints. A one room pub taken back to the bare brick. A small rear outdoor area. Impressive spirit collection. Very friendly staff. The toucan murals take me back 60 years; we had metal trays with the Guinness toucans when I was a lad. ( sister still has them!) They do have live music. Pipped music was pretty damn good.”

“Came Saturday 3rd December for our Christmas do. We all had food and drinks. It was very busy so our food was miss ordered but once it came it was out of this world. Most of us had loaded fries. Because of the delay we got a discount. The food prices were really reasonable. Would definitely recommend.”

“I was staying in the adjoining Premier Inn, as I was working in the area. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced and there’s also a dinner and breakfast deal for hotel guests. I ordered the smothered platter which was fresh and tasty, with the steak cooked medium perfectly, which is usually ruined with mixed meat platters. Thanks chef. All staff are really friendly and the restaurant is clean and nicely appointed. The Doombar was spot on too, so I’ll definitely be back for my next trip to Denton.”

“Went for Sunday lunch and had a fabulous meal. It’s a set menu and had all 3 courses for £27. The food was well presented, hot and very tasty. You can’t fault it and I would highly recommend a visit here.”
