“Lovely old inn with a superb view. Good priced drinks and unbelievably friendly staff, including the delightful owners. Everybody went above and beyond, from checking in to breakfast in the morning.... Wow! The breakfast was perfect, and soaked up our hangovers from the previous nights wedding perfectly. Clean rooms, comfy beds, Will be looking for an excuse to go back soon.”
“Super welcoming local pub in Padfield. Excellent staff and beer. Coffees great as well. Looking forward to a meal there this evening!”
“Stayed here with my partner and our dog. Loved the place. Room was big and spotlessly clean, breakfast was perfect and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pub downstairs. No food was being served other than breakfast when we stayed. We tried the Indian upstairs which was lovely and also ate at the bulls heads just up the road. We will be back.”
“Collected a takeaway whilst staying in Padfield for a few days. We had onion Bahji starter with a Lamb Rogan Josh and Lamb Jalfrezi, with rice and naans. Food was excellent. Really tasty and the portions were very generous. A curry and rice would definitely serve 2 people on average. Nice place, friendly staff and great overall experience. Many Thanks.”
“It's tasty, properly baked pizza. Definitely a cut above your usual doughy, bland tasting takeaway pizza, and I much prefer it to the over-sweetened taste of places such as Domino's. Delivery was quick, and the food was still hot. Garlic bread was great, too!”
“I pass this pub on a daily basis but have never visited until today. The place is lovely. A very old building with a nice atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place. Food is very reasonably priced.”
“I used to live in Glossop, at a time when the Raj Gourmet brought something completely new to local curries. Every time I go back I hope it won't have lost its magic. All the curries here are completely different, so I can never decide and usually go for two very different dishes. Tonight I went for prawn pathia, chicken moglai, mushroom rice, and paratha. The pathia has lots of slivers of green chillis - eat them and it's deliciously vindaloo strength, leave them and it' a really good, rich sweet & sour curry. The moglai is smooth, indulgent, and nutty without the annoying sweetness of lots of similar curries. (The portions are still huge, so I'll be eating this tomorrow too). How they've managed to sustain the quality without increasing the prices, I don't know, but I love this place.”
“Wow! Just ordered a delivery as was feeling unwell and didn't want to cook. I'm SO glad I ordered. Had the Hot and Spicy soup which was comforting and delicious along with the thai red curry. Everything seemed so fresh and tasty. Wanted to ring them up to thank them, but I chickened out. So Thank you So much for a delicious meal;”
“Just had the brisket Yorkshire pudding wrap ..it was delicious..will be having some more of that..”
“Six of us ladies of a certain age celebrated an 80th birthday, and had a lovely afternoon. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious. Thank you all so much for helping to make it so special.”
“Stumbled across this place last night after hiking in Bamford Edge, we ordered 3 x fish and chips and a sausage. Fish is very fresh and crispy and the ordering system is very good, making sure everyone is safe whilst picking up their orders. Lovely staff as well. Will definitely come back if we're in the Peak District again .”
“As of 26/04/25 food is excellent. Chicken vermicelli was extremely tasty and the mixed veg in oyster sauce supreme. Very pleased and at a good price. Don't change the recipe. Yum”
“Update: I first reviewed 3 years ago (see below), we live locally and still come here including tonight and again the food was lovely and even my fussy partner was happy with his dishes. Tarka daal was outstanding, chicken tikka tender, breads competently made. Very surprised at the bad reviews, noticed many are takeaway, we usually dine I'm and it's always been a good experience. Staff are also really lovely, we were put off by a really noisy group and they went to some trouble to set up the upstairs for us. Also offered us a bigger more comfortable table downstairs initially, even though it was fairly busy on a Friday night. So what one reviewer said about being made to sit at the smallest table is not the case now. Nice relaxed place to have a great quality curry at a reasonable price. Just to point out to another reviewer slating the food for not being authentically Indian: the restaurant is Bangladeshi, not Indian. The flavours are well balanced and nans cooked to perfection - fresh and fluffy soft with some browned bits. Samosas are large and taste freshly made, definitely above average quality. Fish dishes especially recommended, really tender. I've eaten here lots and with various people, and we've hardly even had a dish we've not been completely happy with. The staff make an effort and have a sense of humour.”
“Lively friendly atmosphere. The food was lovely and piping hot. *Edit The pub has changed to Thai food now and after eating there I can highly recommend it. Great food”
“Lively most of the time but nice when quiet too anybody welcome anytime at this local pub. Don't expect food but expect a traditional warm welcome.”
“Food has always been perfect. Been ordering here for 9 years now and it’s been exceptional every time. Naan bread is brilliant as all other curry houses in the area are tiny and dry. Staff also very caring and great chef on the open kitchen”
“Best calzones around glossop 10/10 would recommend them”
“Really love this restaurant! The food is always delicious and full of flavor. The service is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I’ve ordered takeout before and the delivery was super fast, and dining in was just as great — cozy atmosphere and attentive service. Definitely a place I’d recommend to friends!”
“Great cakes and friendly staff!”
“Absolutely beautiful food so fresh and nice every time the staff are so polite. I get a chicken kebab on pitta bread and it’s amazing. They deliver it was quick too”
“Food was delivered quickly, really tasty and piping hot.”
“Brilliant place to stay. Perfect. Hosts are extremely dedicated to a great service”
“Amazing pizza, by far the best in Glossop. Wonderful personalised customer service. App is easy to navigate and use. Can’t recommend highly enough....”
“An absolute godsend for us - stumbled across this gem somehow and booked for the end of day one of Pennine Way. Good communication prior re leaving car there - and organising lift that offered from the end of the walk back to the accomodation. One of the nicest welcomes you could ever get - and great value too! Lovely area too (photo taken of view out of bedroom window to the back) Rooms spot on for our needs - and even better just 2 mins walk to a pub (had stopped serving meals by 8pm but allowed us to do deliveroo to there so we sat and drank beer and ate pizza & kebab in the beer garden!) A cracking breakfast the next day - fresh fruit, cereals, full english, toast, homemade marmalade, juice/tea/coffee and a lovely chat with the amazing host Sheila who showed us the visitors book going back to 1976. That says it all - no one lasts that long doing anything, unless they have got it right! Highly recommend.”
“Great food, great staff, will be back , especially for the full English.”
