โA lovely park, I like to take a walk here or sit on a bench with a book. In summer, social gatherings, like Picnic in the Park, are held here.โ
โGood boat ride, Not a bad price, It was around ยฃ10 for 1 hour. Plenty to see and relax.โ
โLovely grounds, plenty of deer and a nice walk in fresh air. There are toilets, a cafรฉ and gift shop.if you need them. You need the Ringgo app to park and pay ยฃ6.10 for all day.โ
โA few minutes from the motorway, reasonably priced parking. Lovely cafe and a number of picnic tables. Several walks with differing lengths. The paths we followed were reasonably made-up and accessible.โ
โI bought a kitchen from howdens for a flat Iโm renovating and I could not be happier with the service I received and the kitchen I got. I dealt with Joe McLaughlin who was incredibly helpful, designed my perfect kitchen and was very prompt in everything I asked of him. Iโm extremely happy with my kitchen and canโt recommend Joe and howdens enough.โ
โWooly Park is my local heaven. I love it. It has a bit of everything. Even holding events and doing themes in the school holidays. There is ALWAYS a reason to go there, even if it's just to admire the old hall or the deer.โ
โSuch a gorgeous little Park I say little but it's actually really extensive and has many paths to walk around and explore., the kids playground is top Notch as well.โ
โA fantastic country park plenty of difference routes for walking, cycling or horse riding along the routes there's gym equipment dotted about and a few children's play parks. There's also a good sized fishing. In the visitor centre, there's a good cafe that serves hot and cold meals. The only letdown is that dogs are not allowed inside, but there is a covered area outside. Well, it's worth a visit.โ
โDecent place for a walk & dog friendly, car park is reasonably priced, quite a good selection of paths throughout and it's a short uphill walk to the hall from the ponds. Quite a popular place so parking can be an issue at peak times.โ
โLovely country park, lots of different paths for walking, cycling and horse riding. Great cafe at the visitors centre.โ
โIt was such a lovely place! I visited Grantham for the very first time. Small quiet city I must say. I decided to visit the park, maybe a wakk to look around. I was impressed by how neat the park was, very well kept. The mapping, the walk ways. There was the beautiful stream with what looked like staircase waterfall thing. The scene and the sound was very relaxing. The children playground was fun too. Lots of play options, I found myself on the โrollercoaster" rolling and laughing like a kid, I visited some of the courts; table tennis, lawn tennis, football pitch, older children playground, bowling side. The outdoor gym was spacious and easy to use. There were so many sit outs and corners for photoshoots, picnics, had me imagining what summer would look like. There was this boat riding place, not sure what it was as we met it closed but it looked interesting. Lots of people were walking there dogs and I paid particular attention to a lady who picked up her dogโs dung as soon as it did the poo, it made me appreciate the neatness culture. Ofcourse there were bins on all corners so it seems pretty easy to keep up with good sanitation. I will definitely visit again if I find myself in Grantham sometime in the future. Please find pictures and video below.โ
โLovely park to explore with a combination of a lake, river and greenery.โ
โItโs a true privilege to capture the beginning of a new story, and the beauty of West Park made everything all the more magical. Such a lovely setting for an unforgettable moment. Swipe across to feel a little of the magic we shared together! โจโ
โUsed to visit here on a regular basis, however this was my first visit for over 6 months. Thoroughly enjoyed walking round the lake on a sunny evening and was impressed how tidy and well kept the park was. Rowing boats available for rent, as well as mini golf and football golf. Good for families, with large grass areas for picnics and a regular ice cream van parked up. There is also a small coffee shop in the Lakeside art centre.โ
โA lovely green space in the town. Excellent children's playground. Well looked after by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Friends of Bridgford Parkโ
โFirst time visiting, and very impressed. Great views from the viewing points. Had a lovely walk with a friend then a very reasonable egg on toast รญn the cafe 1899. Will be back with my family.โ
โHaving this place on your doorstep is absolutely fantastic! With plenty of routes available, my favourite is: right at the end of the lake, down the lane (with the cottage at the end), carry on passed that, then through the trees and take a left. This will lead into another walkway.โ
โA very beautiful place to go out with family and friends. Itโs quiet and calm, especially beautiful in autumn.โ
โWe arrived at 12 noon and we're so pleased that breakfast is served all day! Good cooked breakfasts, including vegetarian. Fast service, good portion size and lovely, cosy atmosphere. Not much parking available, but we could park on the street and it was quiet due to it being the weekend. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.โ
โAbsolutely love this little park! Although it's comparatively small, it features a tennis court, bowling area, a cricket pitch as well as gym equipments. There's also a path going around the field for a nice little walk. It's also got the best play area I've been to with my little toddler - plenty of things to explore and climb on. He will happily play here for hours! It's good that it's secured from the rest of the park and also locked overnight, protecting it from vandalism. It's also very well maintained with its own car park & toilets. It does get quite busy though.โ
โLoved this experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The attraction is very well organised. Changing facilities are clean. Would recommend for a fun day out.โ
โReally impressed with this place, never been before. Only walked one path but definitely will return. Cafe very good Dog friendly, Clean Toilets. Play park for children and plenty of parkingโ
โUnsure of her name but the one of the girls was super friendly and helpful and helped me find the perfect pair of jeans! I had to rush off but couldnโt thank her enough!โ
โNice day out lots to do and see. Nice cafe and shops. Very open not a lot of shelter if the weather turns. Very gravelly if you have limited mobility.โ
โLovely park by the castle in Newark. Nice to walk by the river. The castle is being renovated at the moment, they are replacing the drawbridge and that will be something special to see.โ
โThis campsite gets a 5 star rating. Very friendly and helpful staff. Flat site. Excellent shower block. Fantastic bus service into the city. Many thanksโ
โNice park to visit with kids and for a dog walkโ
โVery nice coffee, lots of choice for food and some lovely cakes. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Recommend very much. There's water provided for dogs, and disabled access is very good.โ
โHeanor Memorial Park Heanor Memorial Park is a spacious and attractive green space with plenty to offer visitors. The beautifully maintained gardens are seasonally refreshed with vibrant bedding plants, while a variety of mature trees and open grassy areas provide a peaceful and relaxing environment. Whether you're looking for a tranquil spot to sit or a scenic place to walk, the park offers plenty of benches and open space to enjoy. A Living Memorial: The Parkโs History In the aftermath of World War II, the local community sought a meaningful way to honor the men who had lost their lives. Rather than erecting a traditional stone monument as had been done after World War I, the vision this time was to create a "living memorial"โa public park that could be enjoyed by all. At a public meeting held in October 1945, it was decided that unused land near the town centre would be developed into the memorial park. The project was funded entirely by public donations and community fundraising efforts, and included a traditional war memorial at its heart. The park was officially opened on April 28, 1951, by the Duke of Devonshire. A cross-denominational dedication service emphasized the inclusive nature of the memorial. In 1974, ownership of the park was transferred to Amber Valley Borough Council. Later Additions and Improvements In the 1980s, a plaque was added to the war memorial to honor those who died in the Falklands Conflict of 1982. Over the years, the park has seen several enhancements, including the installation of a bandstand and modern play facilities, making it a welcoming space for all ages. Interesting Facts Historic Gates: The parkโs impressive main entrance gates were originally the Derby Lodge entrance to the now-demolished Shipley Hall. A second set of gates, located opposite the Miners' Welfare, also came from Shipley Hallโs gardens. Both sets of gates were refurbished in 2010, preserving a piece of local heritage.โ
