“Brilliant swimming pool and best thing of all, it's free! You can spend all day here, they have cabanas to hire, but not worth it. Just grab some seats and set up an area for you and the family. The lifeguards are friendly and helpful, they even moved a baby cot from one side of the pool for us. The new ride is amazing too!”
“Mo's physio has helped me with the pains in my lower back and my knees, with treatment at the Lenton Centre and exercises to do at home. I noticed an improvement in my back quite quickly; the knees are taking longer. Mo gives a welcoming reception with supportive advice and the charges are very reasonable. I also swim at TLC and really value this local community asset.”
“A great gym with great facilities and staff. Particularly James Foulk one of the tennis coaches who has helped me with my game. He's a lovely chap who you can have a laugh with but also knows when to be serious and is a good coach. I've learnt a lot and look forward to continuing my lessons with him. - David Lloyd Aspley.”
“Our one year old had a great time. Can get really busy at times though but she enjoyed it.”
“Just like clock work The hole was dug, the pool arrived and was fitted in a day. The dome arrived and again fitted in a day A little bit of work from our tilers to finish the surround and help from the solar panels we have the pool open from April to December It’s fabulous in the summer days and magical with the lights on in the winter nights. Good for exercise and a tonic for the sole Our thanks to Marek who is always available for any questions. Best money we ever spent”
“I use the pool at least once a week, and it is always busy. You either need to book in advance or get lucky with a quieter session. The changing facilities are unisex, with separate cubicles to change in. You can either get a locker using change or park your bag by the pool. The viewing area is good if you have kids swimming or you are waiting to swim.”
“Beautiful place, wather so clean ,”
“Great for kids swimming lessons”
“One of my absolute favourite places to be! Run by lovely people who strive to create a welcoming, supportive and inclusive community. The lake is simply beautiful; always a sheer joy to swim there in nature. I don’t often sauna but when I have it’s been bliss! Can’t recommend this gorgeous venue and team enough.”
“Learn to Paddleboard, get some exercise, HIIT classes, bootcamps and yoga, day trips, amazing adventures and holidays! Book with SUP fitness and you’ll love it! Can’t recommend Cassie, Amy and team enough”
“I had a fantastic experience at Riley’s, and a huge part of that was thanks to Alex behind the bar. From the moment we sat down, Alex was welcoming, attentive, and clearly knows his craft. The cocktails were perfectly balanced — creative, flavorful, and made with care. He even gave great recommendations based on what we usually like, and every choice was spot on. The food was just as impressive — fresh, flavorful, and served hot. You can tell the kitchen and bar work together well here. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink or staying for a full meal, Riley’s (and especially Alex) makes it worth your time. Can’t wait to come back!”
“Fantastic family holiday resort. You can swim all day and go on the water rides, rapids and pool. Wave machine is fun but doesnt always happen on time, depends on lifeguards. Beautiful forest and walk ways to explore on foot or bike. Peaceful lakes ...some lodges back onto lakes and you can watch the wildlife from the sofa. The animals are very brave as used to humans and often the geese will knock on the patio doors wanting a snack! Accommodation is clean and well designed. They are warm in colder weather. Can have a log fire which is lovely, can buy logs from shop. The activities are plentiful but some are pricey. Not much choice of craft activities for over 9 year olds...Need to book in advance to get time slots you want. Staff on site are friendly and courteous, and are happy to help. Restaurant staff are very nice and do everything they can to make it a good experience. Some building work is still going on at Sherwood...so some areas cordoned off still. The xmas area is looking lovely though. There is something for everyone here....you certainly get a good physical workout if you want it. Only one moan ....Busy on change over days and got a bit crazy due to overcrowding on water rapids. Some younger life guards could be benefit from controlling numbers a bit more and the youngsters who behave dangerously....so that it is a good experience for all. Need to accompany younger children. Overall great holiday and would definitely come back.”
“Lovely park to explore with a combination of a lake, river and greenery.”
“It’s a true privilege to capture the beginning of a new story, and the beauty of West Park made everything all the more magical. Such a lovely setting for an unforgettable moment. Swipe across to feel a little of the magic we shared together! ✨”
“First time visiting, and very impressed. Great views from the viewing points. Had a lovely walk with a friend then a very reasonable egg on toast ín the cafe 1899. Will be back with my family.”
“Ran an event with Spring Lakes in the summer and it was great! The marquee was lovely, and did come with a screen and projector. The only slight issue was we went on a day when we had the extreme heat, and the marquee was very hot - nothing some fans/ or an air con unit couldn't cure - and let's face it, we don't usually get those types of temperatures here in the UK. Food was great (I'd ordered jacket potatoes which are a solid all-round when catering for a large group). Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely setting for an event, I know a couple of people from the group did stay behind to take advantage of the water activities as well.”
“Everyone agrees the rapids are the best thing about Center Parcs. So much fun. And even better at night! Just wish they hadn’t removed the coloured ball style lights, and replaced them with bright white LED ones. The coloured lights really added to the atmosphere.”
“Loved this experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The attraction is very well organised. Changing facilities are clean. Would recommend for a fun day out.”
“All staff are very helpful & friendly...from reception, cafe, instructors, lifeguards to the manager. Nothing is too much trouble, making it a very pleasant place to visit.”
“Came to the older people swim today with my son, i was very impressed by everything there, the swimming pool was lovely & I wasn't overwhelmed by chlorine fumes, the place is very clean and the staff are very friendly”
“Staff are friendly and helpful and the whole building itself is huge with many classes available and rooms for different activities - love the variety of things to do !”
“Heanor Memorial Park Heanor Memorial Park is a spacious and attractive green space with plenty to offer visitors. The beautifully maintained gardens are seasonally refreshed with vibrant bedding plants, while a variety of mature trees and open grassy areas provide a peaceful and relaxing environment. Whether you're looking for a tranquil spot to sit or a scenic place to walk, the park offers plenty of benches and open space to enjoy. A Living Memorial: The Park’s History In the aftermath of World War II, the local community sought a meaningful way to honor the men who had lost their lives. Rather than erecting a traditional stone monument as had been done after World War I, the vision this time was to create a "living memorial"—a public park that could be enjoyed by all. At a public meeting held in October 1945, it was decided that unused land near the town centre would be developed into the memorial park. The project was funded entirely by public donations and community fundraising efforts, and included a traditional war memorial at its heart. The park was officially opened on April 28, 1951, by the Duke of Devonshire. A cross-denominational dedication service emphasized the inclusive nature of the memorial. In 1974, ownership of the park was transferred to Amber Valley Borough Council. Later Additions and Improvements In the 1980s, a plaque was added to the war memorial to honor those who died in the Falklands Conflict of 1982. Over the years, the park has seen several enhancements, including the installation of a bandstand and modern play facilities, making it a welcoming space for all ages. Interesting Facts Historic Gates: The park’s impressive main entrance gates were originally the Derby Lodge entrance to the now-demolished Shipley Hall. A second set of gates, located opposite the Miners' Welfare, also came from Shipley Hall’s gardens. Both sets of gates were refurbished in 2010, preserving a piece of local heritage.”
“*** Three spices *** Lovely food, friendly staff”
“We purchased our hot tub last month and have been absolutely overwhelmed by the professionalism shown by Chris and his team. From the initial showroom viewing to the site survey and ultimately the delivery and installation, the customer service has been exemplary. I would definitely recommend Hydropool Midlands to anyone looking to purchase a hot tub. Bravo.”
“I would highly recommend East Midlands Swim Academy, my daughter has been swimming with them for 3 years and has shown fantastic progress. All of the teachers are friendly and professional, and with relatively small group sizes are really able to focus on each child and adapt to their individual needs. What really stands out for me is it’s not just about how far you can swim, but more the technique that is used. The pools are very well maintained and extremely clean.”
“I go here pretty often and to say the gym membership price is low , the gym and the other facilities is top notch. Why waste 30 quid at david Lloyds when you can just come to this. AMAZING”
“Helpful staff, excellent facilities, great gym, fitness suite and spin/wattbike facilities. The sports hall floor is a big plus for badminton. Day time parking requires a little thought, bike parking excellent.”
