“Exceptional cafe. Wonderful views over Plymouth sound. Staff friendly, menu fantastic at the right price. Lovely tea garden”
“Great service, great Food our waitress Jess was really helpful making sure we had everything we needed. My little girl was overwhelmed and very upset Jess noticed this and brought over some drawing bits and asked if she could help in anyway. Which was really thoughtful and kind, she is a real asset to the Toby team.”
“Went for a fabulous meal on Sunday night. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We were lucky that the Princess Yachts were still in the Harbour from the boat show. Stefan the waiter gave us a lovely table by the window.”
“Excellent meal. Students were brilliant.”
“We went for afternoon tea following the funeral of a good friend. It was my first visit The waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was well presented and one of the best afternoon teas if not the best I've ever had. Because of this visit, I have booked for a celebration later this month and am looking forward to returning to Fishbone.”
“Banging Chicken. OMG stop here if you love chicken. This is not fast food or mass produced. Sit back relax, enjoy the surroundings. Freshly cooked to order, amazing flavoursome coatings. I had the burger ( see photo) which was delicious. Will definitely be back again when I visit Cornwall.”
“Had lunch here. Food was amazing and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. Considering the quality of the food I think the price was very good value. We will definitely be returning very soon.”
“Amazing food!!!!! Large portion, fresh and just delicious! I’m a returning customer and pirates never fail to surprise me. Definitely a happy and tummy filled customer!”
“8 of us went for Sunday lunch, the food and service were amazing. The main highlights were the meat, I had the Beef but other members of the party had the Lamb and the Pork, all of us commentated on how good the meat was, the other highlights were the cauliflower cheese, which comes as standard, as does the yorksire puds and the unlimited gravy. Will most definitely be going again.”
“Our first trip to Dartmouth since lockdown. Our favourite cafe bistro was closed so we found Beth's Bistro. And what a good choice. A comprehensive menu and extras on a blackboard as well. We both had beetroot and feta cheese salad which was excellent. Very welcoming and good service. We will be back. Cullen Skink and a smoked haddock main dish look appealing. It was good to eat out after 107 days !!”
“A yummy find! We had the vegetable Kebabs takeaway, came with loads of veggies, an absolute slab of hallomi, a yummy side salad, loads of chips, and a homemade tomarto sauce with wrap & pita. Very happy with our dinner!”
“Friendliest cafe for dogs and their humans. Breakfast was tasty and good price, nice coffee and lovely hot chocolate. Lots of free parking, clean toilets. Servers all came out and said hello and chatted and gave my dog treats (after asking me first). Couldn't have picked a nicer place to get breakfast in Plymouth.”
“Many thanks to Ellie and her team for the delicious birthday lunch! The new menu du jour option was a bargain we couldn’t pass up. Everything was delicious as well as beautiful. The starter Gougères were “to die for"; we just wish there had been four per couple; it’s difficult to share three. The English sparkling rosé was particularly good. We look forward to coming again!”
“Really nice deli and café, with a big range of salads, pastries and pastries. Lots of nice options to sit down and eat and loads of nice fancy food to buy. Would be nice if there were some highchairs”
“Absolutely divine food! For the starters I had the famed scallops, which was very fresh and complimented with the use of sour apple flavours. Then I had the crab which was absolutely the best! Such a unique yet magical blend of flavours. For the main I had the wagyu, which was melt in your mouth. For the pre dessert they made you play a paper game at the beginning and they use that to figure out what dessert you would prefer! Very creative, not the mention the dessert was amazing. For the bread I loved the goat butter with honey on top. Service was attentive. They noticed that my partner was left handed and moved the utensils to the left for his convenience. All in all it was a perfect dining experience which I would 100% recommend to anyone who plans to visit.”
“For a small village cafe, this place ticks all the boxes. I started going here a couple of years back, just after lock down. I found an amazing array of cakes and delicious cafe food. I believe that most of what is on offer is home made. The cakes are always different and always amazing. Some of the best cheesecake I've tasted has been here. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Even if it is really hectic and busy, which it can get. It is very popular. The views over the river are lovely and in nice weather there is outside seating to enjoy too. Inside you have nice views and loads of local crafts and arty things you can buy as well. It just feels really welcoming. I have spent a fair bit of time sat there "working" on my laptop whilst enjoying a hot drink and some good grub. It is even dog friendly. So you can take your furry friend along to enjoy the atmosphere too. I would recommend this place any time. It even has better opening hours than a lot of places in Torpoint. Well done Hearts. Recent update - Had their chicken club sandwich recently. It was delicious. All the ingredients were lovely and fresh and it came with some nice chips.”
“Visited on a Saturday with family, very welcoming, all the staff were lovely. Good food and good beer. Definitely recommend”
“We popped in unexpectedly on a Sunday evening and it was surprisingly good! Lovely place and lovely food! We've been in other Portuguese restaurants around and always feel disappointed, but not here! It was delicious and great atmosphere. We will certainly go back and bring some friends as well!”
“Visited The Olde Plough Inn & loved it. Set in beautiful surroundings in Bere Ferrers, Yelverton, it is truly a gem. Sarah greeted us warmly & served us well. Chose home-made beef & veg soup with warm bread rolls (delicious) & syrup sponge pudding with custard, which was devine. Can't wait to return for a lovely walk by the water's edge followed by another tasty lunch. Highly recommend.”
“Went for Sunday lunch, set in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of outside seating to enjoy a drink in the lovely gardens. If you decide to eat, you won't be disappointed the roast beef was to die for, with perfect vegetables & lovely gravy. I chose hake, which was cooked to perfection, which came with brocoli, potatoes,& a lovely sauce. Couldn't fault anything location, meal, service 100%..will visit again.”
“We had a fantastic evening here as a early Valentine's meal, the staff were very attentive welcoming and helpful. The food was exquisite, not one thing to complain about. The goats cheese bruschetta starter was an incredible combination of flavours that left you wanting more and the steak was cooked to perfection! Overall a very pleasant atmosphere with fantastic food and service! Will definitely be back! 5*”
“We ate here on the first night of our holiday and so glad we did. We ate early (6.45pm) and it filled up quite quickly after 7pm. The range of tapas options was great, with different food styles and flavours from around the world. We ordered 6 dishes, no bread, with the intention of having dessert, but we were too full. Never mind what we had was delicious! The wine by the glass was also very good. £80 total, including tip.”
“The food was scrumptious. Loved the starters and entrees. Shared the scallops on pork belly, crab and avocado salad, John Dory fish and duck breast with my niece. It’s on the top 2 list for Plymouth in my opinion, the other place being Acleaf. The server, Fabio, was top notch! Knows his wines very well and how to pour properly! Has a great personality. The ambiance is top notch (like eating in a castle!). Highly recommend.”
“Made to feel welcome, lots of healthy options, the waffle, yoghurt and fruit was delicious!”
“What a lovely little local place in the middle of the beautiful Barbican. I can't remember the last time I had such an excellent service in a restaurant. The waiter was lovely, had a good knowledge of gins and told us about how they source the fresh fish and seafood every day. Not to mention his personal choice of music (70s-80s funk) which definitely guaranteed a good vibe. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the Trio of Fish and the Fish stew. Thank you for the great experience.”
“We attended for a staff Christmas meal of 8. This is the first meal we’ve done as a large group where nothing was wrong! Everything came out at the same time (and promptly!), was warm, tasted fresh and incredibly delicious. Very good portion sizes and even lovelier staff. Accommodating to all of our needs and a lovely atmosphere. Would really recommend and eat here again! A new favourite for sure”
“Having visited The Kentish Hare, also managed and run by the Tanner Brothers, we felt we should absolutely try The Barbican Kitchen. As the ethos of both restaurants is heavily rooted in using locally sourced and seasonal produce the menu was of course different to The Kentish Hare, but equally as fabulous. Excellence service added to the excellent meals added to a 5 Star experience.”
“I had the chance to eat twice during my stay in Plymouth. And I can only recommend Salumi. The staff is nice and attentive. The decoration is quirky and fun and the food is amazing. The Sunday roast is a joy: food quality, presentation and taste. One of the best I have ever tried. For Sunday roast I highly recommend booking in advance as the place can be packed. The only downside to highlight is the price of the drinks. I reckon it is slightly pricey.”
“Eaten here many a time while working in Plymouth. Excellent food and great prices. Highly recommended. Mixed grill my go to favourite.”
