“We are new to this area, ordered food a few times from here, it’s always been great. Food is reasonably priced and very tasty, and it’s almost the only Chinese takeout we’ve come across in the country that accept card payment.”
“Tried here for the first time tonight- seen it many times in the past but never got around to going in! Went through the drive through, was very quick overall, only a star down for service as the lady was very difficult to hear but nothing major. Food was absolutely lovely- for a fast food joint, you don't expect 5* dining, but this was really nice. Silly things made a diffrence- really thick bag that doesn't fall apart when you hold it, foil wrapping on the burger to keep it warm. I had the double bacon cheese burger and lattice fries. Very nice! Tasted fresh and hot, but without that greasy aftertaste you get from the other 'big boy joints' Will definitely be returning, and will most likely sit in to look moreso into the menu!”
“Best Chinese in the city, easy. Super recommend the twice cooked pork, hand-pulled noodles in soup, or a hotpot with a few pals :) This restaurant quickly became our favourite lunch during university and has stayed a regular meet-up spot since.”
“What a lovely place slightly tucked away but well worth seeking out. Nice colourful decor and traditional music in the background. Great tapas. Great prices. We enjoyed everything we tried. Really nice pint of lager too and I don't drink lager!. Sangria was delicious. Good service . Will be visiting again . Thank you.”
“Four of us went here after being let down by another local pub. 3 of us ordered the same steak, one well done, one medium and one rare ALL came out perfect and all the meals came to the table hot. The drinks and food was very reasonably priced and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely be back.”
“I would like to thank all the staff at the Barbican Steakhouse for saving our birthday celebrations after they were almost ruined due to Aribas overbooking their restaurant. The team at the Steakhouse treated us like royalty, and the food was absolutely amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better service or a more enjoyable experience!”
“This was our first greek meal! and oh my goodness it did not disappoint. Great food, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely restaurant for all. We went as a family two adults and 2 teenagers, we each had a 3 course meal and it was delicious. Good value for money. Shame we live 300mils away as we would definitely go back, but if we go back to Plymouth it will be the first place we head too. We did book as we went on a Friday night.”
“Amazing, fairly sized pub across from City College Plymouth. When football is on you can see it from virtually anywhere you stand in the pub, which really pleased me. They also have offers on drinks and happy hours, which truly make you happy, dizzy and perhaps a little tipsy (or worse). Worth a visit Janners!”
“8 of us on a golf weekend. Booked months in advance but on the night they had no record of booking. Fortunately, even though it was a Friday, they weren't busy so could fit us in. We chose the banquet for 8 (c) and the food that was served up was amazing. High quality from the sweet and hit soup, to aromatic crispy duck pancakes, starters and many, many main dishes Serve throughout by the waitresses was excellent. Highly recommend.”
“Excellent service and food. Hugh the head chef and his team are extremely talented chefs and offer a five star experience. The hotel restaurant is beautifully located overlooking the bay of Thurlestone.”
“Some not so great reviews floating around online. We stayed at the hotel and booked in and were ever so slightly apprehensive at some of the reviews but could plainly see people had combated them with glowing reviews so were interested to see how it would go. It was near faultless, amazing atmosphere nice and quiet but not awkward, just intimate. Food was stunning, some photos attached (burger was slightly salty but super tasty). Wine was delicious, they have an amazing very extensive wine list, perfect if you know what you're looking at. Lauren was super bubbly and polite, noticed she was very engaging with all guests aswell as ourselves. Ruby was also amazing, when my girlfriend left for the toilet Ruby tucked her chair in and folded her napkin ready for her return which was a lovely polite touch. Both deserve some praise for their work. Three courses and bottle of wine (£55) came to around £150 total, feel it's totally reasonable pricing for the experience. All in all, a brilliant restaurant if you want something slightly fancy but not overbearing, in either price or vibe. Was perfect for a smart/casual night out with some great quality food and drink.”
“Great. Visited here in August 2024 with family. Food was great and a reasonable price, the staff were welcoming, friendly and service was quick. The décor was traditional diner style that was cool; the place was clean and it had a car park. Overall great.”
“Had a nice pre Christmas lunch here. Restaurant was fairly busy and nicely decorated. Waiting staff were pleasant and efficient and the food was very good and reasonably priced. A Christmas set lunch is available but we chose from the regular menu. A nice unhurried lunch.”
“Great Place!! Best food, best place open past midnight in the area. best burgers for the money. best staff.”
“Immaculate, classy pub in a great location. No food until 5pm. Good range of real ale. 2 small bottles of water was £5 and was not served in a glass.”
“We took our family out for dinner. There was 5 of us. Katie our server was great. She was very attentive without being intrusive. There were a couple of issues. 1) my chicken was warm not hot, 2) the bowl of custard my mother-in-law had, the bowl had a big chip out of it and 3) my custard was flat cold. Katie sorted my custard for me and even got me some extra. Although this was disappointing we still all enjoyed ourselves. We Will definitely be back at some point.”
“Delightful afternoon at Castle Barton Restaurant. A quirky 'grandma's dining room' vibe and delicious food at a very reasonable price. Will be heading back there very shortly to enjoy another chocolate roulade with real clotted cream, though the brie & tomato brushetta and game pie were just as good!”
“Stopped off here for a coffee while on my daily walkies and I'm so glad I did as the coffee was what I expect a decent coffee to taste like - hot, well roasted and rich. The staff were really friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and drink available to buy. The Greek also has its own seating outside which offers exquisite views of the harbour and is ideal for people watching. Didn't get to try the souvlaki wraps on offer but The Greek is now on my favourites list for lunch served by staff with great personality.”
“Wow! Fantastic fish and chips, huge portions and fair prices. You even get a little pot with a slice of lemon and some tartare sauce! Super impressed. Well done to the new owners. We will definitely be returning.”
“It takes true dedication to be in business for 30 years. It isn't until you taste the cod, you realise why. It was fluffy, batter was light and buttery. Chips, just perfect. Steve knows what he's doing. Let alone the calamari as a special starter and the prawns in the prawn cocktail were huge and honestly, beautiful. Sam was also very very polite and a delight to have as our waitress, she was calm and very charming. Much better to have a meal here, than anywhere else in Devon!”
“Lovely friendly atmosphere. Had breakfast with Santa today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Brilliant service form everyone, thank you to the whole team and a special mention to Karen who always serves us with a welcoming demeanour and a smile on her face!”
“Lovely afternoon tea, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely. The restaurant was clean and well set out, the view was beautiful and we had a lovely time.”
“We came here for our nieces 18th birthday, we had the little bar to ourselves which was very nice the main bar looked good, and we would like to come back for a meal as we had some food provided which was really nice. Nice place to visit and we will be back again.”
“Highly recommend their seafood linguine! Service was very nice too :)”
“Had a wonderful experience at The Dome, Plymouth. The food and drinks were really nice, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Our waiter was excellent, very friendly, polite, and professional. He mentioned it was his first day, but you’d never have known. He did such a great job and made us feel really welcome. Overall, a lovely visit and would definitely recommend.”
“Marie served us on new years eve. A very busy night but the staff and the food were lovely and exceeded our expectations. Will always recommend this restaurant. Very happy with our visit.”
