“We went for an open day. Viewing the facilities which include a gym, swimming pool, croquet lawn, restaurants - it’s a fabulous setting in the river. The open day gives you a chance to see what you can have for a yearly membership. You can also book the venue for weddings and/or parties . It’s a beautiful venue”

“What a delightful experience - pre Christmas family lunch on Sunday 14th December. The new owners have done a great job. Food was excellent, service equally welcoming. Have been visiting the Stoke Row area for around 15years now - this was the best lunchtime/ dinner we have had - great value and quality. Thanks”

“This place is incredible, it has a fantastic mixture of dinning and drinking. The food is amazing from the starters to the deserts. I’ve been many of times and I am never afraid to change my order as every single food on the menu is just cooked to perfection. My kids also loved their food but more importantly they loved the staff, the staff are very friendly and warming, Leo the gentleman that runs it is one of the nicest guys I’ve met and he was the reason I started going there. He worked at another restaurant a few years ago and because of his great service he provided, me and my wife had to follow him on his new ventures. Honestly if you need a good affordable lunch, date night, family dinner or even a drink this place is a must. Thank you Leo and the team for being amazing!”

“An excellent and professional agency. Everything was organised and understandable. The entire process is transparent at every step, and the agents respond promptly to all questions, always providing clear guidance on the best course of action. When needed, they were happy to make adjustments to the tenancy agreement. During the move-in, Katie helped us check that everything in the property was in order. We spent over three hours on the inventory, and throughout the whole time, we had full support from both Katie and Bethany. Thank you very much for such a smooth experience!”

“My dogs have stayed at Avalon several times, most recently over this summer. They are fantastically caring at Avalon and understand the needs of my dogs who are of 2 very different breeds. My older boy has been to other kennels previously and never seemed happy then but at Avalon he comes back happy and looking great. They love the staff and whenever we drop off they are both happy to go straight in and greet whoever meets them - I trust my dog’s opinions!! I travel 90 mins from home to take them to Avalon- they really are great. Even got sent a photo to put my kind at rest that they were fine while I was away for a couple of weeks.”

“We came for afternoon tea today with my girlfriends. This was my second visit for afternoon tea. The food is delicious! The sandwiches are filled well and very tasty, The scones were fluffy and light. The desserts delectable. This really is a hidden gem for afternoon tea. I often have afternoon tea in London and this is definitely at that standard or better! Fabulous service. The staff are polite, helpful and really make this a 5 star experience. We will definitely be visiting more, especially as I now know that I can bring my dog in the Bar area and have afternoon tea or a meal there. Full of praise for a well executed 5 star service.”

“Lovely clean guest house in a great location for local and amenities . It has an added bonus of free car parking. The Silverdale Guest House is run by a family who seem to take great attention to make your stay a pleasurable one . I wouldn't hesitate to stay their again.”

“Had a flyer through my door with great photo's of their Thai food, so I thought I would try them. I thought my Thai Green curry was pretty good but after having one from their menu I was amazed ! it was stunning, so good I went back the following week and then also with the girlfriend and then the following weekend with 2 friends, we were all very very impressed with the superb menu stunning food and great service, give them a try you will not be disappointed. “Stayed for the night following a friend's birthday celebration. Warm welcome on check in and everything explained regarding breakfast and checking out. Beautiful large room for 2 of us to share, everything you could need to make a comfortable stay. Bathroom with a large walk in shower, looked fairly new and sparkling clean. Comfy beds and a fabulous breakfast in the morning. Perfectly poached eggs. The evening meal was lovely everyone was impressed with their choices and portion sizes were fabulous for the price. Staff were happy to add a candle to our friend's desert for us. Definitely would recommend and would stay again if in the area.”

“This place is gorgeous. I was there for a meeting so can’t comment on food or drink but the grounds alone are reason enough to go. Would certainly like to stay the night on my next visit. There is ample car parking here. Would recommend driving as it is in a rural spot.”

“Alice was amazing — great service from start to finish. This was our second visit, and the Hinds Head is now our go-to for any special occasion. Alice was especially great with my ADHD, making the whole experience even more comfortable. Highly recommend! Family of 7 Amelia my 2 yr old daughter loved the experience also .”

“Im not from Reading, so 1st visit. It is in a beautiful location and the pub was a proper traditional pub. Really nice crowd of people, different from London as people on different tables chatting away. The staff where great from arrival until leaving. Lots of dogs, and we had 2 dogs and the staff were very patient. Had the roast which was big and all the ingredients very fresh. I had the Guinness brownie too which was lovely. As an add on, on the Tuesday I realised I had left my sunglasses, speaking to Katie who works there they had been handed in so thank you whoever that was. And thanks Katie on helping me get them back to london to me. I look forward to then next visit”

“What a great find , quaint , charming in a beautiful setting , the room was modern with a studio style and the bathroom was wonderful ! We had breakfast on both days which was really cooked well and very good from a budget perspective . I would just like to say a special thank you to Peter the general manager for being a great host , and super helpful . “I’ve been here twice now and the staff are really friendly and clearly a strong team. I had the truffle burger and chips option in the meal deal with the room and it was gorgeous. The burger was cooked just right, the chips crisp and fluffy, the mushroom done just right so it wasn’t leaking juice everywhere. Staff were attentive and genuinely seemed to take pride in the service they offered.”
