Pub dining in Southampton

“We came last night for quiz night and dinner, at first we were rejected as we hadn't booked, but we insisted when we saw an empty table. Prices are so cheap for food. Good quality price, so much choice, it was hard to choose. We started with nachos and then a burger and kebab. Just great while quizzing. 80 questions but time flew. £1 to play and the winners win the amount collected. So the more the merrier. Will definetly come back!”

“I attended a St Patrick’s Day quiz event at this lovely river fronted pub. Leah and Charlie were fantastic and the pub was all decked out in green St Patrick’s Day bunting with a pile of fancy dress accessories for punters to wear. It was fantastic they were all in Irish gear as I was. The cider was lovely and refreshing as was the food. Well done guys ! I cycled to 3 other pubs on this Monday night having a half of Guinness in each and The Rising Sun shone out as the best ! One pub I visited in Sarisbury Green had not made any effort whatsoever! Such a shame. I will certainly come back to the Rising Sun again! I’m told their Sunday roasts are mouth watering.”

“We had a wonderful evening at the Silver Fern for my son’s football Christmas do. The atmosphere was perfect and we all enjoyed the footy, the food, the drink and being able to catch up in such a great location. Big shout out to Amanda for being so kind and helpful.”

“We visited The Bridge Inn today, for a celebratory 90th birthday lunch, with our Mum. The restaurant was busy when we arrived and there was a lovely atmosphere. Liv was our waitress and she looked after us really well. In fact, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent, attentive but not overly so. We ordered drinks while we looked at the menu, which was quite varied and well laid out. We chose our mains and we didn’t have to wait very long before the food was served, nice and hot. A couple of us had the steak and ale pie, which was delicious! Two others had chicken dishes, which were very tasty too, and one of us had the special venison burger, which was amazing! Deserts followed, including sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownies, and apple tart, all of which were absolutely delicious. James was our chef today, and we got to chat with him, briefly, after our meals. The prices were very reasonable indeed, and the service charge wasn’t added automatically, like many restaurants, but we didn’t hesitate to add our own cash tip, as the whole experience was just perfect. Definitely a birthday lunch to remember, and I’d highly recommend a visit to The Bridge Inn, at Shawford.”

“I have been to masala Lounge around five times over the last year and every time, whether it is Indian or Thai, has been really high quality. I went yesterday evening and I think it’s the best chicken curry I’ve ever had. I liked it so much I’m tempted to go back and have another one. The staff are very friendly always happy to see you. “We found this place while attending a gig in Southampton. Absolutely WOW. The place looks fantastic, the staff were very friendly, order was taken super quick and food served shortly after. The steaks are superb, the BBQ burger is one of the best I have ever had. Then came the shocker, the price? I had to check as I thought I had been undercharged but no. 2 meals were really less than £35.00 including service charge. Why is this place not rammed?”

“Superb pub right on the edge of the New Forest. The food and beer is excellent and so is the service. Lots of space to eat and drink indoors and a huge garden with both covered and open seating. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. You can even get there by train, as Ashurst station shares the same car park”

“Fantastic! Went with family for a birthday meal for my wife, Lip smacking Starter platter having crispy chicken wings and strips, Cheesy Nachos, Toasty Garlic bread and Crunchy onion rings. Daughter had the kids menu deal, Tomato pasta with side veggie, a fruity drink, and a brownie and ice-cream dessert for just £4.99, Good quantity, couldn't finish it all.. and the colouring kit and make your own Bottle bunny that came with the meal was an added bonus! She loved it! Birthday girl wifey had the Sirloin steak.... I sneaked a bite and it was cooked just as we liked it .. so soft and buttery... Chips cooked absolutely right, crunchy outside, creamy inside. My steak sandwich... Mind blowing!.. couldn't finish it and had to take most of it home. Yummy Honeycomb and Brownie ice-cream, Helps supports the Macmillan nurses, A good deed with a great treat! Service is top notch... Fantastic experience, would love to visit again!”

“Took my elderly Uncle and friends to have lunch. The staff were ready with a ramp for his mobility scooter and were attentive throughout our visit. The roast beef was delicious and pudding to die for. Compared to London prices (where I live) this was a very reasonably priced visit. Go give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!”
