“The food is excellent, particularly for the vegetarians in our group. With the added bonus of it being Collabfest when we were there, so there were some great new beers to try. Coupled with the friendly staff and the venue being suitable for kids, we spent a fair bit more time here than we anticipated.”

“Slightly biased as have been coming here since the early 80s, and although we miss the old style pub, it could have ended up much worse than it is design wise. Food quality is back on an even keel and is consistently of good quality and presentation this taking away that level of apprehension you feel when you go to so many restaurants these days. Shout out to the young ladies and men of the service team who provide a very professional level of service in a pub / restaurant which I know for a fact can suffer from some challenging customers at times...”

“The host greeted us by assisting with the door as we approached. Very friendly, showed us to our table and let us pick where we'd be most comfortable. Assisted with removing the chair so I could sit in my wheelchair. Got us started with water and nachos, then sent our server over to take our order. Service was great, very efficient. Server ensured we had exactly the food we wanted. Cleared empty plates in a timely manner. Overall great service”

“Just had a great Sunday lunch cooked by Chef Luke. Friendly service from Sam. Roast lamb was great and my wife had a half a roast chicken which she failed to finish - just due to the volume - and to ensure she could fit in some dessert. Cracking crumble and excellent bread and butter pudding with homemade vanilla custard. Great way to end a weekend away. Hoping to book the place for a birthday party next year...”

“Stopped for lunch during a long walk, and just had the nicest cheeseboard ever - pickles, dates, grapes, delicious Christmassy relish, 4 nice cheeses, lots of biscuits. Staff and ambience fabulous. So beautifully done - thank you for a lovely experience!”

“I recently came in for a festive meal with my work colleagues. It was a perfect experience from start to finish. Greeted on our way with a huge smile from Erin was a great welcoming. “Went there for brunch 11am booked a table in advance, the place is spacious and wasn't to busy, the stuff that serves was excellent and the food wasn't late to come after we ordered the portions are true american style and would go back there again. The kids menu was 2pounds and was llenty of food for a 10 and 7 year old”

“Stopped here on the way back from Scouting Event at Ferny Croft (across the road). I have to say, I'm sorry I didn't know about this hidden gem before. The restraunt is beautiful but on a sunny bank holiday we sat in the garden. Lots of places to sit and the tables are well spaced out. Very different to the packed in feeling of most pub gardens. Very relaxed feeling. There is a lovely children's play area with smaller section for tots and a bouncy castle too. I think my 6 year old would have stayed all day given the choice. The menu is varied enough to cater to most people and the addition of the Barrel and Stone pizzas is fantastic. From an allergy view point, many items are available with gluten and vegan options and the rarity of gluten and dairy free. The kids meals are of a decent size and the starter soup of the day was huge. Food tasted great and was a reasonable price especially given the location. It dog (and wellies) friendly here too which is great when coming in from a forest walk. Staff were really polite and knowledgeable and the service was great. Free WiFi throughout The place is wheelchair accessible and has decent accessible toilets too but there are some gravel areas to the outside. Unfortunately the outdoor tables wouldn't be easily accessed by a wheelchair as the benches aren't removable. We didn't have the wheelchair with us so didnt pursue further and they may have a solution Looking forward to coming back soon to try sunday lunch.”

“Lovely evening at Tim's Bistro, the food was very fresh and was a delight to have a wide selection of fish dishes to choose from. The monkfish wrapped in Parma ham was delicious and the mussels were tasty too. They need to sort out their booking system, we reserved a table two weeks in advance but seemed to not have our details on record but squeezed us in on a table at the back. We overheard the chef swearing in the kitchen, sounded peeved that everyone who had sat down for a 7pm booking all had their orders submitted at once and had to turn out all the meals in one blast. Definitely be back for the food, but do sort out your online booking system.”
