“It was my husband who discovered this place for our dinner with friends. Great vibes and love the fact it is a community pub. My starter of the Korean cauliflower was absolutely amazing and I could have very happily eaten a larger portion as a main. For my main however, I went for the pesto bread and butter pudding and again this was delicious. My husband and friends enjoyed their meals. I was too full for pudding but as I wasn't driving, I enjoyed the special cocktail, whiskey sour, before we headed home. Good vegetarian options.”

“First time to this eatery, we had a shared platter between myself and the wife and we were not disappointed. For dessert I had the walnut sponge with syrup and vanilla ice-cream, and my wife had the orange sponge with syrup and vanilla ice-cream, with deserts were excellent. “I first started riding at Poplars 30 years ago, riding for a number of years. Following a break to go to uni, have children etc, I returned around 11 years ago, as soon as my children were old enough to start riding – thankfully, they caught the bug too and it is now a weekly activity that we all enjoy together. Staff are knowledgeable and lessons are varied (particularly love all the different pole work exercises). I feel safe knowing that my children are always put on ponies that are deemed suitable for their ability and I trust Pip’s professional opinion on what she thinks my children are capable of when it comes to the exercises she is asking of them in our lessons. The pony’s welfare is paramount to the family and the fact that there are still ponies on the yard (albeit in the retirement field) that taught me to ride all those years ago, is testament to how well looked after and cared for they are. I have no hesitation in recommending Poplars as a great place to ride, having already done so to family and friends.”

“We had a great time, 3 adults and 4 teenagers at the Shearing shed for 4 days during this February half term. Lovely views, accommodation was comfortable and clean. Kitchen well equipped. The folder of instructions for the running of the house was super helpful ,very clear and told you everything that you needed to know Hosts Gemma and Simon were welcoming and very accommodating. I would definitely go there again and would recommend to others”

A great family environment, dishes can be tailor made to your preferences. Highly Recommended, it's cheaper than Alton Towers food outlets (really expensive), which is 10 minutes drive away. 10/10”

“The accomodation was excellent. We had a converted outbuilding to ourselves with a choice of bedrooms, a small kitchen, lounge and conservatory. A friendly welcome from Eileen together with a couple of generous slices of cake was a perfect start to the stay at the farm. There was plenty of toiletries, tea, coffee, milk etc and the kitchen was well appointed with immaculate and modern appliances. The owners have got a Labrador puppy named Harper who was absolutely adorable. We would have loved to stay longer and will definitely return to this idyllic and peaceful location with stunning views of the countryside. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area. We ended up having a curry in a restaurant called "New royal balti" in Audley which was superb. Being non licensed we took a bottle of wine there from the Tesco store a few doors away.”
