Many thanks to Ian & Amy for managing the booking who were happy to add people at short notice & adjusting the menu to suit any dietary needs. Amy, Chloe & the 2 Smart young Men who quickly served 30+ drinks & followed with the meals with great efficiency. The food was Quality as everyone commented - thank you Chefs. Our group came from all over Yorkshire & commented what a lovely large airy space for a group meal up the slightly raised area along with a more intimate conservatory for smaller groups & couples - Well done The Star & do highly recommend -:Thank You. “Came this afternoon (Thursday) for a drink and food. Very impressed. Summary, get yourself here! The lady serving was really nice and delivered a great customer service, drinks on draught had some money off which she told us about which was an added bonus. Service was quick and drinks reasonably priced. Went back to order food and nothing was too much trouble, explained everything to me and happy to make any amends to order if needed. Went for the fried Brie to start. Then lasagne with chunky chips & the Cajun chicken burger with fries. Both tasted freshly made and VERY hot. Really enjoyable meal and served in a reasonable amount of time, again we were sat outside in the sun and it wasn't a problem the lady bringing the food out, she even came to check once during the starter and once during mains if everything was ok! Going out of her way to deliver a fab service. Will be back and would recommend giving here a go!”

“We had a wonderful time at The Dusty Miller for our church Christmas meal with around 40 people. Sarah, the manager, Callum, one of the servers, and the rest of the team provided excellent service, and the food was delicious. There was a small miscommunication regarding timings, but it was quickly and professionally resolved. I would definitely recommend The Dusty Miller.”

“We went to a different pub up the road at first. Although it was nice, some of the customers were very 'shouty'. We decided to leave and go to the Halfway House. The staff and service were fabulous, and the other customers were a bit more respectful of each other, keeping their conversations to themselves. Great range of real ales, cosy atmosphere and significantly cheaper than the other place.”

“Lovely place. Very accomodating for my partner who is in a mobility scooter. Opened the side door for us to get in where there was a ramp into the main bar area. Reasonably priced drinks. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Not a sports person myself but is definitely idea if you want to catch a game with a pint.”

“Absolutely marvellous I attended my grandson's engagement party and was really impressed with the place. Nice clean toilets well the gents was didn't go into the ladies lol. The staff was pleasant and good at their jobs, you can play pool or snooker in separate rooms sit outside in their beer gardens well impressed with the place worth a visit.”

“Outstanding service from start to finish the young lady who was our waitress who looked after us on our visit was exceptional. We called in for my partners birthday and so gladx we did it was game week both of or favourites the venison and lobster surf and turf was a real delight all the food was cooked to perfection. “Called in without booking on the off chance of a sunday dinner on my birthday and was welcomed gladly to a table for 3 of us. We ordered the carvery. All the food was hot and very delicious! Good selection of veg and the gravy was so so good. Very clean and has a lovely atmosphere. Thank you raggalds for a lovely dining experience on my bday. The staff were very friendly and attentive! Will definitely recommend and hope to be back to try the Christmas menu.”

“The hotel and staff were awesome, and the room was spotless, plus the hallway smelled amazing. But, I was bummed that the pool and gym were closed until noon, which was when I had to check out, even though I thought they'd be open. Also, the outlet in my room, 131, didn't work, and some of the furniture needs to be replaced because it's getting old.”

“The best pub I’ve ever been! We were there last Wednesday to only have a drink... we ended up having a few and having tea as well!!! Extremely lovely and attentive staff, specially the (I think) manager of the pub. The food was really good and we had a deal! (2 selected mains for £12). We had the burgers and they were really well cooked. The manager knew Spain and talked to us about it. Very good experience, we will definitely come back! Thanks, gracias!!!!”

“We had been out walking yesterday and we popped in here for a drink and ended up staying all night. The outside area is great and pretty at night with the lights. The drinks are reasonably priced and good. We met lots of people we hadn't seen for a long time and had a really fab evening and even though this is not in our area, it is definitely going to be our "go to" pub. Really good music and atmosphere and a fabulous, fun and welcoming new Landlady called Andrea. We will be back!”
