“Sunbridgewells is truly a one-of-a-kind destination and an absolute must-visit in Bradford. Built into restored Victorian tunnels (which were once an air-raid shelter and even a nightclub!), the architecture and atmosphere are incredibly unique and atmospheric. It feels like a hidden subterranean village, offering a brilliant mix of independent pubs, craft beer bars, food outlets, and quirky shops. It's the perfect place to spend an evening exploring or settling down in a cosy corner for a drink. The history, the exposed brick, and the layout make it unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique social or shopping experience in the city centre!”
“Lovely big room for the party , clean, and inexpensive drinks X”
“Top staff great atmosphere. Kids love going after football and bar staff are great with them. Always made to feel welcome, has all the sports showing when you need it. All round one of the best for a pint, catchup and sports”
“Good place to go on a night out. Also Sunday lunches are delicious.”
“We popped into The George on a warm Sunday in May. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Patrons were all different ages which is always a good sign. We were surprised to see that they did Sunday roasts - I say this because we checked their website beforehand and it didn't look like they served them. We ordered 2 beef roast dinners with a side order of cauliflower cheese. The portions were huge and we left totally stuffed. We will definitely be back. A wonderful addition to Cullingworth.”
“The food was really nice such as the location but what actually make the difference from other pubs in the area is the quality service as they have a very friendly and welcoming staff.”
“I have driven past this pub so many times but never been in. Me and my sister were taking the mother to Readmans (next door). We parked up, my sister suggested we pop into the pub for a drink before Readmans. So, in we pop. As we had parked at the back of the building, you don’t get the best impression of the pub. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but as soon as we stepped inside, I was impressed. All thoughts of having lunch anywhere else were immediately expelled. The pub had a busy dining area but we chose a quieter spot. This is an absolutely fantastic pub, I will definitely be making more stops here in future. Great menu, food and very friendly service. The food is top notch! One tiny observation is my crumble to apple ratio is the complete opposite of the chefs. I like a lot of crumble and custard when I order apple crumble. Having said that all of the ingredients in our 3 meals were good quality and generous. I want to return for Sunday lunch and the pub quiz.”
“Enjoyed a fantastic Sunday roast here. Within our party we had the pork belly, beef and turkey roasts with all the trimmings. All were exceptional in flavour, taste and value. Washed down with a couple of Guinness it set us back £57 per couple, which I think is excellent. From what I gather the pub had just reopened after renovations. It was clean and welcoming, the staff were friendly. Unfortunately I was very greedy this time and didn't get the chance to snap a photo of our dinners!”
“I’d even go as far as to say this place is a bit of a landmark in Bradford. I’ve known this pub for years and have always liked it. It has a great atmosphere and a fantastic location. You really can’t fault the quality of the food or the value for money at City Vaults.”
“Best pub in Bradford. Great place to go out. Very friendly staff. Bob and Gayle best landlord and landlady you'll be meet both very welcoming and accomodating. Will always go the extra mile”
“The George is a great traditional British pub with a variety of beers and ales. My wife and I frequent this establishment to watch football every weekend, it has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are warm and friendly. Lou the landlady can not do enough for the costumers and their 4 legged friends, it has a great play area for kids. I highly recommend a visit.”
“I had a buffet breakfast with my dad which was really good, everything was warm and cooked perfectly. Poppy came to speak to us to ask how everything was, was very friendly and made the visit a little bit more special”
“From the very start of planning our wedding to after our wedding Lydia and the team were truly amazing. A beautiful day for our wedding”
“24/05/25: 21/07/23: back again. Pub stop number 6 on our Huddersfield Ale Trail. Discrete outside area [photo update] 16/06/23: fantastic place. Good selection of craft ale. Art Deco styling inside. Warm, friendly and welcoming pub. Chilled out vibes! A lovely little find! Dog friendly.”
“It's a well spaced bar with a great beer garden. Food is top notch, there are trees. I like trees. Oh back to food, I had chips, they were delicious! I had onion rings, they were huge and tasty. I also had a margarita pizza, which was perfect. Don't judge! Lol”
“What a well run restaurant. The food is delicious and fresh and the service means you never have an empty glass. Well with a visit.”
“Absolutely delicious food and cosy atmosphere!! I've eaten here about 5-6 times over the past 2 years and each and every time the food has been faultless. People who know me know I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it. I went last night as I heard they'd had a menu change and it did not disappoint. We had the Peppered Chicken and Chicken Parmesan, both served with an abundance of yummy side dishes (fries, roast new potatoes, dressed salad and seasonal vegetables). The warm cookie dessert is amazing. I could eat it just on its own with a lovely coffee (which they also do) i.e without the sauce or ice cream. It's everything you want in a cookie. Crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle. They've had all their chairs reupholstered recently so it's looking a lot smarter than before making the vibe extra cosy. If you're planning a visit, make sure you book not to be disappointed as it does get very busy for food. Great selection of drinks too. 10/10”
“Staff were very welcoming and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us Food came quickly and everyone enjoyed! Great atmosphere with large beer gardens, highly recommend!”
“Food was delicious and service was great. Would definitely return. My suggestion would be to sell some emmerdale souvenirs like the post office does.”
“Always an amazing experience at the craft Indian! The food is delicious and the service is brilliant, they have a great selection of beers available also. Cannot recommend enough! They catered our wedding last month and we received so many comments on how lovely the food was. The service was wonderful and they were very attentive to us and our guests!”
“Visit the Malt shovel monthly with Husband for Karaoke on Saturday nights. Great Karaoke host and good sound system. Cosy atmosphere, friendly crowd and attentive staff. Adequate Seating inside and outside. Clean toilets. Food is good and a varied menu. Great choice of traditional puddings and desserts. Wide selection of Drinks and cocktails at the average price. We park across the road rear of the shops.”
“Love this place. Bar, terrace, huge function room, pool table, darts, snooker, cards. What more could you want from a members club? Excellent venue.”
“Went there after a funeral reception and was very welcomed, was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really warm and welcoming. We had some pizzas which were lovely and well priced”
“Went there for Sunday lunch with my daughter, her partner and my granddaughter. Getting into - and out of - the car park can be a bit tricky in busy traffic, but once in there's plenty of parking. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were great.”
“The Pub is really nice, the drink quality was very good, and the bar/food service was very good/excellent. The food itself for me was fantastic Tandoori Chicken Skewers were cooked really well, the taste and presentation of my meal was fantastic the taste of the sprinkled paprika on the fries were excellent, salad excellent, yoghurt sauce excellent. only two minor niggles of this dish Sala Sauce I personally thought was not nice (usually my fav) put to one side as was spoiling the dish, the thickness of the naan too much, 2 small naans, or one thinner one preferred, but the Naan served was lovelly. The dish was excellent value for money.... I just want to point out that the two minor niggles are minor issues, one of the best pub meals I have ever had in a long time of this type. I would still give an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5.... I have still voted 5 stars in my review as next time I come I do hope the polite feedback of this dish is taken on board and again would reorder the same dish as everyone on our table commented on my dish and how fabulously it looked.... You cannot get a better compliment than everyone asking to try and saying it tasted lovely. THANK YOU TO VENUE AND ALL THE STAFF, THIS IS A GENUINE PAYING CUSTOMER (WELL MY PARTNER PAID), AND I WILL BE BACK AGAIN. PS: A shout out to Eleanor, she was very polite, professional and was serving clients with the utmost professionalism and politeness. Credit to the venue.”
“Just nipped in for a drink.. lovely pub & excellent location for the Piece Hall.”
“A lovely Italian restaurant in Halifax. Our 2nd visit when going to a Piece Hall gig and it was busy. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Highly recommended for Italian in Halifax.”
“Had a lovely meal at the Duke of York. We ordered the fish & chips and scampi & chips — both came in really generous portions and were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a delay with the food due to the chef being unwell, but the team handled it really well — we were even offered free drinks while we waited, which was a lovely gesture. A special mention to Ellie, the manager, who was especially kind and made sure we were looked after.”
“Lovely atmosphere, great service, small but just how a pub should be.”
“We held our after wedding meal here. The food was superb, the service second to none, nothing was too much trouble. I wish we lived closer to make it our local! Fabulous”
