Pub in Halifax

“Just had an unplanned visit here after breaking down on the main road outside. Pleasantly surprised by this lovely little pub. Great selection of food and drinks (alcoholic and non). Lovely friendly bar staff. Prices seem reasonable. Decent (although a little on the small side) toilets with deodorant/hairspray etc in-very nice touch, especially on such a warm day! Quick food service, greatly appreciated!! Thank you :)”

“First night dinner they ran out of food. For our first breakfast we had to wait nearly 30 minutes. Drink a reasonable price, room very clean. The bathroom could do with a sign to warn about how hot the water is and more non slip dots in the bath and a hand rail in the bath for people to grab onto. The reception and bar staff were very well mannered and nothing was a bother. We will go again”

“What an incredible pub. Really really nice food and great service from the staff. A warm and welcome venue that offers full table service and is dog friendly. The food was stunning and very reasonably priced. The car park was a bit small and very busy , but given how good the pub is , no wonder it's busy. We will be back !”

“The food is excellent also affordable. The beer prices are Leeds prices £5 a pint for Coors. Two real ales- Black Sheep Blond and Black Sheep Best at £4.70 a pint. Great service . I would not recommend it as a local unless you have deep pockets..”

“I recently visited stump cross and tried their stump stack burger — and wow, it did not disappoint! The patty was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The fries on the side were crispy and golden. Great service and a relaxed atmosphere made it an all-around great experience. I’ll definitely be back again.”

“We phoned on the off chance for a table this Sunday lunchtime and fortunately they managed to squeeze us in. We received a warm welcome here and the staff were brilliant throughout, as was the clientele. The Sunday carvery was quality and a choice of three sizes, all was cooked to perfection in particular the beef. Our first time here, but definitely not the last.”

“It's the first time I have been to the Milestone. I went with my sister and her husband. I must say we throughly enjoyed ourselves. The service, food and atmosphere was great. The food is reasonably priced but good quality. I had fish and chips. Probably the best I have had for a very long time. If you're close by try it.”

“We had such a lovely dinning experience at The Fleece on Thursday 9th October! We booked a table for dad's 82 birthday and we were delighted with our choice of pub! The venue is not only special because of the beautiful building and setting - and autumnal and tasteful Halloween decorations - but we were mainly impressed by the very attentive service and amazing quality of every dish. The steak night options were superb, great quality of meat, cooking and sides dishes, and I had the best vegetarian meal I have ever had in a pub - delicious! and with very interesting and tasty accompaniments. Every dessert was gorgeous and beautifully presented, well above the quality and presentation of other pubs. The waiting staff were so very professional and made us feel so looked after! And we were so pleasantly surprised by the very thoughtful gesture for dad´s birthday on his dessert:) they made the evening extra special! Thank you to everyone at The Fleece for the wonderful dining experience! Very highly recommend. ( We are moving to the area soon and delighted to have such a wonderful pub on our doorstep!:):)”

“Genuinely impressed on my first visit. Most social clubs I've been to in the past are like the Phoenix Nights stereotype and badly dated. Not here. Modern comfortable facilities. Great helpful and polite staff. Well priced drinks. Will visit again!”

“Had a lovely meal at the Duke of York. We ordered the fish & chips and scampi & chips — both came in really generous portions and were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a delay with the food due to the chef being unwell, but the team handled it really well — we were even offered free drinks while we waited, which was a lovely gesture. A special mention to Ellie, the manager, who was especially kind and made sure we were looked after.”

“The Pub is really nice, the drink quality was very good, and the bar/food service was very good/excellent. The food itself for me was fantastic Tandoori Chicken Skewers were cooked really well, the taste and presentation of my meal was fantastic the taste of the sprinkled paprika on the fries were excellent, salad excellent, yoghurt sauce excellent. only two minor niggles of this dish Sala Sauce I personally thought was not nice (usually my fav) put to one side as was spoiling the dish, the thickness of the naan too much, 2 small naans, or one thinner one preferred, but the Naan served was lovelly. The dish was excellent value for money.... I just want to point out that the two minor niggles are minor issues, one of the best pub meals I have ever had in a long time of this type. I would still give an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5.... I have still voted 5 stars in my review as next time I come I do hope the polite feedback of this dish is taken on board and again would reorder the same dish as everyone on our table commented on my dish and how fabulously it looked.... You cannot get a better compliment than everyone asking to try and saying it tasted lovely. THANK YOU TO VENUE AND ALL THE STAFF, THIS IS A GENUINE PAYING CUSTOMER (WELL MY PARTNER PAID), AND I WILL BE BACK AGAIN. PS: A shout out to Eleanor, she was very polite, professional and was serving clients with the utmost professionalism and politeness. Credit to the venue.”
