“Such a lovely surprise! We were visiting Lewes and just wanting a nice cup of tea, and stumbled upon this lovely gem. The back room had a lovely tea service, including a small escape room game that can be played, great service, tasty scones. It did fill up quickly as only 4-5 tables in the back, so there could be a wait (but it is worth it!)”
“Incredible. Ordered on the phone and drove down from Uckfield, order ready when I arrived. Food was fresh, high quality and unique to other burger joints. Price fair for the quality provided. Will absolutely be back to try the other burgers.”
“This is a great place to bring the kids for lunch. They have delicious ice creams. Also the portions are good sized. It’s not expensive at all and it’s quite tasty. The people are quite nice, accommodating and really friendly. It’s right in the park and next to the paddling pool so the kids can have loads of fun here, you can really spend the day, and have loads of fun recommended.”
“Excellent food, drinks and service. Really nice ambience. Highly recommended.”
“Small little thai restaurant in Lewes. Didn't expect to find authentic Thai food in Lewes ! It was very nice. We had the pad see eew. Huge portion! 2 person can share if not too hungry. The tom yum soup was very good, too ! Most importantly the service, served by lovely Thai lady who is very nice and friendly.”
“From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The service was impeccable throughout our visit—friendly without being overbearing, and always on hand just when you needed them. It’s clear the team takes pride in creating a relaxed yet polished dining experience. The food lived up to every expectation. Fresh, vibrant ingredients shine in every dish, from the beautifully presented starters to the generous mains. To top it all off, dessert was a true indulgence, a perfect end to the meal.”
“What a lovely restaurant! Very warm welcome. Good selection for vegetarians. We shared some light bites followed by sharing a Pizza Pesto. The pizza was the most delicious we have eaten in a long while. All washed down with the house red which was very acceptable. We were visitors to Lewes - this restaurant will encourage us to return!”
“We ordered the chicken platter for 2.it had more than enough meat for two people. We thoroughly enjoyed it as it was all cooked to perfection and was so juicy. I loved the red cabbage salad that came with it, however they've stopped doing the pomegranate dressing which is a shame! The cous cous is very tasty as well. The restaurant has a good vibe and staff are really helpful. They serve Efes beer as well.”
“Less quirky than the others the Lewes road Inn That used to be the 'Franklin' if you've got a sweet tooth two for one desserts on a Tuesday! No photos too good mmmm!”
“One of the reasons that I love Lewes is this pub. A hidden gem. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular and Cask Marque pub. A few years ago we hiked over fron Eastbourne and my sore feet were soothed by a few pints here. ( oddly, there was a Morris Dancer festival going on, hard on feet and hard on ears!) Casta and Madge were enticed by the pizza menu (10£ - 15£). I however had a Gales brewery ( Fullers) 3.6% Seafarer. A super locals pub. No TV's.”
“Nicola and her team catered for my wedding this weekend and the food was delicious and ABUNDANT! My partner and I went for a tasting a few months ago where we selected the dishes we wanted for the big day, which was great fun and super useful. All of our guests have been raving about the food, as often wedding food is too formal and everyone's left a bit hungry. The team also did 'late night food' (we chose pulled pork and halloumi burgers) which could not have gone down better. The service was seamless and Nicola is wonderful to work with. Highly recommend for any event!”
“What an excellent pub! I only stumbled upon it after a hike. Brilliant selection of craft beers on draft and a couple of cask ales. Very nice beer garden below the chalk cliff. Very enjoyable chat with the friendly owner Dominic. I’ll be back!”
“We celebrated our son and future daughter in-laws engagement here. The staff were brilliant and treated them to a glass of bubbles and cute congratulations motif on their desserts. It was great to have an exclusive little room to ourselves and we felt unhurried and relaxed. Thank you”
“Chose Shanaz after reading Google reviews - we were not disappointed. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful (without being overbearing as can sometimes be the case in Indian restaurants!). The food was excellent and nicely presented. Plenty for vegetarians. We particularly liked that it was possible to choose the spice level (and they got it just right). Prices reasonable.”
“Lovely kofte and shiesh combo. Pipping hot, tasty and a decent salad. Perfect after a late shift.”
“Yet another amazing takeaway from Castle. Yes, you do pay slightly more than another local option but the quality is FAR better than anything around. We order from these guys all the time and we're never disappointed, and food is always delivered really fast and piping hot. Particularly recommend the Kung Po Chicken and the Teriyaki Chicken!”
“We had an absolutely brilliant meal here. The service was incredibly helpful and attentive with all aspects of the menu. We had 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 rice and 1 naan and left very satisfied and full. All was cooked very well and the flavours were delicious. There was a great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, all labelled on the menu, and the staff were very helpful with any questions we had about the cooking of the dishes. Couldn't recommend more for a lovely meal!”
“Amazing food and service. Food is fresh and very tasty and the gentleman is very professional”
“Very good location, The food was good. The receptionist (Ali Behrouz) was very helpful when we had a problem in the basin bathroom, he act really quickly to fix it, with apologize, I am sure every manger will like to employee such a good guy like Mr. Behrouz. we will defiantly coming back. Mr. and Mrs Shiltagh”
“We had our sons first birthday at the kings head on a busy Saturday 1pm for 20 people and a few kids, they were so accommodating and went out their way to make the party perfect. All staff were super helpful and welcoming and Ollie was great. Really recommend this cosy pub for a party or just for drinks.”
“Best fish and chips for miles. Beware though, the portions are huge. Little high on the price. 4 large fish, 3 portions of chips and 1 Savoy =£54 but you do get served a lot.”
“Good qualit Great takeaways and conveniemt for picnicks.”
“What's not to like, it's amazingggg”
“Not the best pizza I’ve tried, but for this speed and cost it’s good, sometimes they make really great taste, but sometimes unfortunately add to much oil”
“Mainly a takeaway, but they kindly & happily arranged the table for us to eat in. Service was quick, food delicious, very good value & service couldn't have been better! It's obviously very popular with locals & rightly so imo. Would definitely go again.”
“Really good food. Have been using these guys once or twice a month for 6months now and yet to have a cold delivery or any complaints about the food. Delivers to Glynde which is a major plus! Duck spring rolls are amazing as is the beef in black bean. Just about to call again for a takeaway!!”
“This was the first time ordering for here, my mother said its a lovely meal to have, and must admit I am very pleasantly surprised, the food arrived hot, tasted fresh and full of flavour, delivery person very polite and cheerful, I dont normally eat a full meal but managed to eat most of it as it was delicious. Definitely value for money, have recommended them to my friends and family already.”
“World famous opera house ona. Private estate. Prides it's sellf on its picnic intervals. Producing some of Europe's greatest opera productions”
“Amazing craft beer spot. Lovely burgers and tacos. Fish tacos, veggie, steak and pork. Outside in the summer is amazing. The beer garden faces due west so you get sun all afternoon. Beer is amazing, I absolutely love this place!”
“Archipelagos Gyros in Brighton offers a reliably tasty option for lovers of Greek street food. The menu has solid variety — traditional pork and chicken gyros, halloumi, vegan versions, burgers, sides, and salads — all at very reasonable prices. The portions are generous, especially in the “main box” combos, which give you meat (or plant-based protein), chips or salad, pita bread, and sauce. It’s filling without feeling gimmicky. The service is fast and friendly, and even when busy things don’t feel chaotic. Ambience is casual, good for takeaway or a quick sit-down; it’s not fine dining, but that’s precisely the point. What you get is authentic flavour, hearty meals, and decent value. Highly recommended for a satisfying, no-fuss Greek feast.”
