“First time using them Only had a large huss cook fresh batter golden brown and crisp lots flavver will use again the young man that served me polite and full off beans spot on 11 out off 10”
“Fabulous pub! Quirky, eclectic interior with a good range of drinks on tap, plus some interesting cocktails. Get there before 7pm and some of the prices are cheaper too. And the Thai food is outstanding - great spicy portions at a very reasonable price. A total gem.”
“Lovely food & excellent service!!”
“My partner and I enjoyed lunch here today. We ate on the terrace so our dog could keep us company. The food was excellent, tasty with well judged portions. A big thank you to Cameron who did a great job looking after us, and made us feel welcome.”
“Had a very pleasant two night stay here. All the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was surprisingly good! The rooms are small and clean and just right for a short stay. The mattress could be more comfortable, but for two nights it was alright.”
“Truly tasty food which we would highly recommend! We'd got used to some pretty average take-aways in recent years, but Spice Village really is an exception to standard fare! We ordered Veg Shathkora, Chicken Jalfrezi and the superb 'Beans and Cashew Nut Porial' side dish, and found all dishes very nicely cooked. Will certainly be going back...”
“Popped in last night out of the blue as fancied a Thai, Nicely greeted and shown to a table, after a few mins we were asked for a drinks order, drinks arrived in good time, we ordered a starter to share and our main course, the starter was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing, the main courses was also mouth watering, the desserts were absolutely amazing too, to be honest we weren’t expecting the experience we had, a real gem of a restaurant both in service and quality of food, the pricing was very good. 10/10 to this restaurant, we will be back. Thank you Dave & Sue”
“Amazing service from Sharon. Lovely fast and speedy. As you can see from the pic, the kids couldn't eat all their food as they were too full. Worth 5 stars. Would give her more if I could. Go on girl. Spin that wheel :)”
“We went as soon as it opened for dinner so we had fast friendly service,my sister said it was the best chicken she had tasted.”
“Have passed by here for years and not found time to stop. Made time today and had an amazing birthday meal. Curry goat was amazing, my wife's pork chop was enormous, tender and beautifully cooked. My son's steak gorgeous and apparently the cheeseburger was the best my daughter has ever had. Fantastic staff too, so friendly and happy to answer any queries. Great local beers too. Great to see a small local place so busy”
“Had the best Sunday Roast. Had been searching the area and so glad we came here! Drinks and food were amazing. Roast beef and pork with crackling were delicious. The portion sizes were huge!”
“Was here last weekend and popped in for a snack . Great staff here who were attentive but not in your face. It's a great winter pub a proper country gem but also amazing in Spring and Summer with it's awesome garden and views over the Sussex countryside. Good was great and just a great place to go. Thanks for a lovely time. The group who run this pub also run The Bohemian in Eastbourne and in the Towner light again both atmospheric places with Good food and wonderful service.”
“We went to the green man in Ringmer on Friday night. It was busy as usual but we managed to book a table for the 8 of us. As per usual the service and food was amazing. You get decent size portions for a very reasonable price. It’s one of our go to restaurants. Can never fault the place, always great food and service.”
“A brilliant independent local countryside pub that still has character, unlike a lot of the bigger brewery chain pubs. Comfortable seating and plenty of space alongside a clean and well maintained interior with the option to sit outside if the weather's good. We came as a table of 5 for dinner, and the service was quick and attentive. The portion sizes generous and value for money were good overall. The burgers and sticky toffee pudding were both brilliant, and there were good words spoken about the Liver and Bacon as well as the Irish coffees, too! Specials boards change regularly, and with drinks, mains, and desserts, we still spent just under £30 per person, including service charge. It's definitely worth checking out and supporting your local”
“Great pub food. Probably the best pub pie I have ever had. Combine that with excellent beer, a lovely atmosphere and a roaring fire, couldn't be better. We will be back!!!”
“A lovely pub with a great garden and friendly service. Local beers including Long Man and Harvey's on tap. I believe they also had Ascension Cider which is a must try.”
“We popped in on an off chance after walking at devils dike. We were instantly welcomed by two lovely ladies who were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful selection of locals beers and dog friendly. Would definitely come back to try the food!”
“A wonderfull restaurant, the food all the best Thai I've ever eaten, perfectly balanced flavors. We had Thai green curry, sweet and sour, broccoli in Garlic, egg fried rice. Thank you for a very good meal!! They do a lunch special, combo of main, starter and soft drink. For 12.90, which is very good value for great food!”
“It hasn't got a Michelin star but what a lovely place. Overlooked by the majority and wrongly so. We'll worth a visit for the occasional fried breakfast, of which there is a great choice and good value. I went with my son and we were warmly welcomed so don't be put off if you think it's only for truckers. The coffee was good and I love coffee. Just like the figure that stands by the door - I'll be back.”
“Delicious cuisine. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.”
“Popped in for lunch after a lovely dog walk along the river. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We chose two courses from the lunch menu which was absolutely divine. I would recommend the food as it was first class. Will be coming again soon.”
“Lovely location and good quality rooms. Great value. Breakfast was good. No bar and restaurants for lunch or evening meals at present. Self check in was online and a bit excessive but most of the questions can most likely be ignored.”
“Ever been to High Brooms? No, me neither. Until today. Sunday Roast tourism takes you all round the houses. Today’s pit stop the Leicester Arms. Tip of the day: Pay the taxi fare before you’re out of signal range. The pub sits slap bang in the middle of Penshurst. Albeit Penshurst is so small it doesn’t really have a start or an end. In essence you’re between Penshurst House and Gardens and the Post Office, and opposite the town hall. The building is rustic with a warm village feel both outside and inside. Staff friendly, good toilet artwork and whole rolls of bog paper rather than the stingy dispenser nonsense - always a plus. Anyway, the roast. Oval plates that lip up at the sides with gravy up to a circa 2mm waterline leaving the hull of the potatoes and vegetables submerged. Two hearty slices of juicy pink sirloin and a Yorkshire pudding athletically perched on top. If art exists to be appreciated ad infinitum this installation was ripped apart in minutes. Devoured. 90 mins of travelling and an eating time shorter than a F1 pit-stop. Worth the visit? 100%. Washed down with a brownie that was warm, satisfyingly sludgy and had a thick slate of white chocolate inside. Lovely surprise. The menu quoted £8.50 the bill read £10. No complaints though, I would have paid £11 for it. All in a good day out.”
“Feels like a proper English country inn, with great atmosphere and friendly staff. There's a function room to hire (I was there for a party) and the buffet was great. I'd be tempted to go try the rooms and the main restaurant sometime.”
“Lovely little pub positioned at the top end of Rottingdean. The decor is great and has a comfortable feeling about it. It also has a lovely pub garden. Great food menu choices. There is also a great selection of beers and wine. I can personally recommend the Sunday roast it was excellent. Service was excellent and attentive. Highly recommended.”
“I organised a lunch for 20 people in the private dining room and had a wonderful experience. The staff were brilliant, proactive and quick to response, helping me from the very start with all the logistics and organising. On the day, they styled the room beautifully, service was fantastic and food was amazing. Really tasty seasonal ingredients and great value. All of my guests were so impressed. Thank you to the team, especially Meghan, for all their help!”
“Great food, some nice options for vegans.”
