“We had a brilliant large family meal here to celebrate my birthday in the function room. As it was a special occasion we went for 3 courses. The restaurant quality food was absolutely superb. I had an incredible piece of hake with a beautiful mussel sauce and a delicious apple pudding which was a cross between strudel and frangipane tart. The staff could not have been more helpful, especially as we had 3 young children with us. I would heartily recommend the place and will definitely be going back.”

“The takeaway set meals for 2 and for 3 really can’t be beaten. Much more food than you can eat and so tasty. Good to have a takeaway like Happy Valley just around the corner. Friendly service and they never get an order wrong. I particularly like their beef in black bean sauce.”

“I have been to this restaurant now on two occasions. I have travelled from Cardiff on both occasions and I can tell you that it is worth every mile of the journey. The food is absolutely delicious, divine and out of this world. The tastes and attention to detail with every dish are very impressive. The warmth, decor and ambience are first class. I made a suggestion to Juliana (multi-talented waitress who also takes great pics) that some bread would go well with the seafood platter and this was implemented on the second visit. The chef, Marcia, grew up in Brazil and her take on seafood dishes and Thai dishes is very unique. She has magic in her hands. I would highly recommend the seafood platter and Tom Yum dishes. Ask for spicy versions and enjoy. I would come here every week if I lived closer. Keep up the good work guys.”

“Absolutely superb. Not only did the house and location exceed my expectations, there is a stunning view. I stopped here as a convenient work pit stop, and I will most definitely return for leisure. The house is immaculately clean, homely and caring touches. High quality furnishings and fittings, no stone unturned. extremely good value for money, it actually felt like a holiday. I also cant remember the last time I stayed somewhere with a decent television.”

“I recently dined at The Rose Tree in Bourton-on-the-Water, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The squid starter was simply outstanding—beautifully presented, perfectly balanced flavors, and every element worked together harmoniously. For my main, I had the sea bass, which was cooked to perfection and completely boneless—a real treat. The portion sizes were generous, and even the garlic bread was incredible. The rest of my table enjoyed lamb shank, chicken, and pork, and every single person agreed it was one of the best meals they’d had. The desserts were equally impressive, rounding off the meal perfectly. The service was amazing, with friendly and welcoming staff who created a relaxed and private atmosphere. Despite the restaurant being small, it never felt cramped, and the staff’s knowledge of the menu and proactive approach to service was fantastic. I honestly couldn’t recommend The Rose Tree enough. Make sure to book in advance, as the restaurant is small, but trust me, it’s well worth it. An absolute gem!”

“Finally went back to our favourite Asian hot pot this weekend after a five month hiatus, and it did not disappoint! Delicious flavours, excellent service and even a dairy free-broth to suit our toddler with an allergy! In the colder months we often visit multiple times a month. Just wish there was air conditioning, so that we could continue enjoying hot pots all year round. It is cosier enough in the winter, when the restaurant is busy with multiple pots simmering away, but enduring the heat in the summer is just not an option! The staff are knowledgeable, warm and welcoming and every time we visit they always go the extra mile to put a smile on our little girls face!”

“We have eaten here many times over the years, and always have a good experience. We went again last night. The food was excellent: beautifully cooked and everything tasted so good. Our order became quite bespoke. I was hoping for tuna steak but it was not on the menu yesterday. So they took it from their wet fish counter and cooked it for me after a discussion with the staff about what I would like with it. Also, they had run out of their usual cold crevettes with salad but we said we actually prefer our crevettes hot... so they cooked some just for us. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It's all very informal and welcoming.”

“We had our first Christmas party with our new boss's & we had a lovely time waitress called Beth & she had a challenge setting our table. She was on the ball very helpful always polite full of smiles. Hats off to her we were very loud we hope she has a great time working as a waitress it's not the easiest job in the world & I'm sure there are going to be tables that are not as nice as ours. “Have had many of great night in this pub in the last two years of having moved into the area. Have grown good friends with the locals and become part of the pool team now. The staff are friendly and accommodating and go above and beyond to make sure we have the sports on the drinks poured and the pool table at the ready. Libby , young tom , Liz , Jason and landlord Tom are exceptional and the way Tom has turned the pub around and pulled in the staff needed who do an amazing job and how he operates as a whole makes the whole pub and clientele feel at ease and make it an enjoyable environment to be around sets it aside from others I’ve attended. It does not do food but to attend for the sports or to play pool and congregate with friends or family with the added bonus of a welcome from Rex the dog is class and my children enjoy seeing the pooch and trying to play pool very much! Well done Tom and staff you should be very proud and I’ll be eager to attend again!!”
