“This may seem a strange occasion for leaving a review, but we had the post-funeral wake for my mum at the Ridgeway recently and they looked after us as well as we could have asked. We booked the cold buffet and this was excellent. A range of well filled sandwiches and rolls (we asked for veg and non-veg), quiches, salad, and some delicious delicacies, and then cakes to follow. It was more than enough for the numbers we ordered, even with many going back for more. The service was excellent. A very busy bar was looked after very efficiently by the staff, who were friendly and helpful through the afternoon and evening. No one wants to plan for a wake, but the team at the Ridgeway looked after us beautifully.”

“Me and my partner visited today (4th of October). We enjoyed so much, girl servicing was so nice, polite and helpful. Food was outstanding!!!! I've had steak which was exactly as I like it, there was no trouble when we asked for my chips to be cooked a bit more, Dave had mix grill, everything was cooked to perfection!!!! Beer was nice too. We will highly recommend this pub to everyone. Thank you very much.”

“Saturday 11th March 2023 Tonight, I visited this vibrant real ale pub in the centre of Newport. The young people inside this real ale pub were loud, but all in hood fun Music not to my taste /I'm and I visited old foagie like/ This pub served 3 great real ales picture posted on pubs website. I was very impressed by this pubs beers And atmosphere. This is a place I am very impressed with. Saturday 15th February 2025 This pub is a very good real ale pub tonight it had 3 great hand pumped RHYMNEY BREWERY real ales on see picture on dite and the locals vety pleasent and yhe pub a goodvlocals pub. The staff really good and atmosphere was also good Keep up good work all involved”

“Stayed over 1 night as visiting Cwmbran. Lovely double bedroom Coffee/hot chocolate and tea available. Bathroom to a standard. If you add breakfast, dining area is very good. Only let down was that you had to have waitress service for hot drinks and cups were very small. Maybe provide a larger cup !!! Self service on break buffet. Cold drinks , juices, fruit, toast and jam available. It is best to ask for veggie sausages if you are veggie before breakfast starts, as not cooked in buffet selection.”

“Thumbs up for their pasta. I love it when you can make your own dish, my favorite is simple, pasta and cheese sauce topped with chilli flakes. Or hash brown and cheese sauce with chilli flakes. Warm hearty goodness. They also have a pasta of the month, worth checking out every now and then!”

“China Town is a solid takeaway. The ribs are, shall we say, rather good. Exceptionally good, even. There was a period of closure recently, which was...disappointing. One found oneself rather missing their culinary offerings. However, they've reopened, and all is well. If you're looking for a reliable Chinese takeaway, you could do far worse. In fact, you'd be hard-pressed to do better, especially with those ribs. They're quite something.”

“Classic hotel. So much more interesting and comfortable than a premier Inn or an ibis and it was cheaper! The staff were friendly and helpful the room had high ceilings and felt classic with some art deco features.”

“We tried this fantastic tucked away little restaurant for the first time last night after reading about it online and thought we'd give it a go. We booked a table just an hour beforehand and were told no problem just come along and when we turned up we found it was just beginning to get busy at 7.30pm. The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the first moment and very helpful when I asked some questions about dishes suitable to my girlfriends tastes and needs they were more than obliging in answering. After a very short wait the food itself was absolutely superb beginning with the perfectly fresh and crispy poppadums and vibrantly colourful pickle tray which contained some really appetising and tasty selections. Before long the main courses arrived and they certainly did not disappoint as they tasted just as good as they looked as well as being generously portioned. The spiciness of the biryani that I'd enquired about was just as I'd been assured it would and all of the food was fresh, colourful and full of flavour. The peshwari naan and saag paneer side dish were also absolutely outstanding. The prices also deserve a mention as being very reasonable especially when compared to the other couple of great restaurants we have frequented in newport. I think this place tops those both in terms of cost and very slightly in quality too. The food itself feels very light and somewhat less rich and oily than most other places which we really found to be a bonus as we left feeling much less of the usual "after Indian feeling" that we usually get. We will definitely be frequenting this lovely little restaurant from now on and we wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend it to anyone who gets the opportunity to try it.”

The service was spot on too—friendly and quick. Honestly, one of the best curries I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to order again!”
