“Came here with my parents for a social dining evening. The vibe was great, felt like an underground Spanish barn. We had lots of different food, my favourites were prawn bisque rice, Jamon Iberico, ox cheek and Cecina Caesar Will definitely be back”
“Had a lovely pre-show dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Food and drinks were delicious, particularly enjoyed the Vampiro and the spicy Margarita. The staff were fantastic and made us feel really welcome. Big shout out to our waitress Emily who was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back when we are next in Cardiff.”
“Lovely friendly place, great breakfast.”
“This pub is fantastic. I had such a good evening/night here. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff and owner Gareth were all great and made me feel very welcome (even though I wasn't drinking!) There was live music last night and people queuing to get in, they have various things going on and a huge array of locals from all walks of life; young and old. I highly recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. John and Gareth I look forward to seeing you soon...keep that water coming!”
“Wonderful pub in the lovely cathays. Great service from Izzy Taylor in particular, cracking up lots of jokes. My favourite from her in particular was “popped into a pub called The Flora — turns out it’s the only place where the drinks are well-rooted and the bar staff really know their stems.””
“A wonderful pub with very friendly staff and customers. Was made to feel welcome as always. Look forward to our next visit.”
“Every mouthful was perfect. Highly recommended. It's my favourite place to eat in WsM.”
“I had a really enjoyable meal here last Tuesday evening. We were sat upstairs and the decor is fairly low key. It’s not fancy but it doesn’t need to be. On the way in I noticed some bar tapas so when the menu came we started by ordering one of each of all of the meat ones and a vege one. They were delicious and well presented. We coupled this with some beer and wine. John, our waiter, was super friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the food and wine. Made us feel really welcome and was on hand through the meal when we wanted more. We then ordered a round of hot and cold tapas. The standouts were the chorizo which was sooo soft. The mushrooms were also immense. Loved them. Wanted more! All the dishes were great. The calamari’s was a little dry and maybe needed a dip with it but it was a small footnote. Really enjoyed the meal and would 100% go back again.”
“Went to Yakitori1 for lunch before Book of Mormon at the Millennium Centre. Really excellent food and service. We had the Robata Nigiri Surf n Turf, the flamed Nigiri special, Dragon roll and Kaarage chicken noodles. All were delicious although we both felt the Surf n Turf Nigiri was nice but didn't warrant the price. Overall paid £90 for the food and two beers. Would definitely go here again when on Cardiff Bay”
“One of my favourite places to eat in South Wales. Lovely atmosphere, great for brunch with a great selection included loads of vegetarian options. Chocolate brownie is decadent. The cafe/restaurant itself is lovely but what is good is that there is a secluded small but fun play area for children to play in whilst you wait for your food (it is outside!)”
“Wow, what a Sunday lunch treat! The food is modern pub fare with a bit of a twist but still generous and flavorful. The service was very attentive and kind. I enjoyed the fish and chips a lot and found the reinvented tartare sauce and the unmushed peas great accompaniments. My partner had roast and was thoroughly satisfied. The veggies weren’t soft and overcooked as it sometimes happens with roast sides. Definitely high quality produce prepared with care and thought, and great value for money. 100% recommend!”
“Great proper pub in the centre of Cardiff at the end of chippy lane. Friendly staff, nice and cosy atmosphere and great selection of drinks. Ideally placed to stumble into a takeaway once you've had a good drink. Entertainment on the weekend too. You won't be disappointed”
“We had an amazing day. My 50th birthday will be remembered for a long time”
“First taste of Korean food & thoroughly enjoyed it. Staying at nearby Premier Inn & liked the sound of this place. Unique, quirky, fab food & lovely helpful service. Would love to return.”
“Amazing prices, great beers. Very clean and fabulous black sparkly bar surface, generally a very nice atmosphere. Unfortunately some of the people using this pub do not appreciate the fantastic value for money as this place is better than even Wetherspoons on beer, lager and cider prices, no one comes close to the Bristol house and yet despite being provided a great space outside with ashtrays to smoke and vape, they chuck their fag ends all over the place and it really is a mess. Staff are very hard working and on the rare occasions some people get loud they control situations well and it always feels safe.”
“Like the 2 courses lunch very much. The salmon starter is impressive, and the fish for the mains is very well cooked. Spacious and harmonious environment on the 1st floor. Sure that we will recommend Alfreds to our friends.”
“What a treat if you’ll looking for a true face of Cardiff. Food was amazingly delicious (high quality full English breakfast & triple smash cheeseburger with chips and coleslaw) and atmosphere truly friendly and heartwarming. Not even mentioning great affordable prices and very, very cool music.”

“Extremely friendly staff and the sharing tapas was very tasty and plentiful!”
“Is there anyway I can get a phone number for eastern cuisine wales as I can’t find any sort of contact information? Kind regards”
“Had 2 meals from here now and i absolutely love it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The venue is clean and inviting and the menu layout is easy to read and well layed out. Portion size is spot on. I always have ebough for a full plate to eat and easily enough for a second helping that is the same size. The vegtable spring rolls are delicious and great value. The house special fried rice is full of flavour and the pork that sits on top is the most flavoursome i have tasted from a take away. It's a new take away but i give it a big thumbs up and a massive 5 stars. Looking forward to ordering more exciting options from the menu.”
“Great customer service from the male colleague I interacted with. Very helpful!”
