“Just eaten here tonight as it was recommend by our Air B&B. Seen a few reviews on here stating the service was poor. I've no idea what went wrong, but the service me and my wife had was great. Polite, professional and service with a smile. The food was very nice, especially the pork belly bites appetiser. We went on a day where the Burger was buy 1 get 1 free, which we thought was great value at £18. The burger was nicely made, and we both liked the fact it wasn't "stacked" like most burgers usually are. We could actually fit it in our mouths. We would definitely go back here. Can be seen as quite pricey for some dishes but after the experience we had, I'd pay that again.”

“The team accommodated a large party with only a weeks notice and no deposit. We had plenty of space, the staff were quick and friendly, and somehow all 16 mains came out within 5 minutes of each other! We all loved our main meals. I had the mussels and the sauce they were served with was incredible. We had mixed reviews on the desserts, but honestly that wouldn't stop any of us booking again. We all loved it!”

“Stopped for lunch with Three-year-old daughter and my wife. Not only was the food lovely, but our server Leah could not have been more accommodating to our young one. Brought a few small toys over and some colouring to keep her occupied and spoke really nicely to her. Daughter went chasing her to show off her colouring she liked her that much. Thank you Leah, not only for the sublime food, but for treating my daughter the way you did. We will certainly be back!”

Extra gravy boats would have been appreciated and no cranberry sauce was provided until asked. Apart from that all was excellent. We didn't have food but the menu looked great and very good prices too. Lots of big screens dotted about also so would be good for watching sport also. Lovely pub.”

“Visited for 1st time last night and am really looking forward to this becoming our new little local. I daren't enter before but under the new ownership it gives off a really welcoming cosy modern vibe without overreaching so it can be an 'any night of the week' stop in. A warm welcome from the owner, who even brought our drinks out to us outside and a good set of staples on tap. As per the last review, yes the sign re: masks is pretty unmissable, (and maybe doesn't need to state the bit about exemptees...) but I see what they are trying to do given the place's past clientele... Everything very clean and freshly decorated. We eagerly await the 'small plates' food they have planned. So glad it's on our doorstep. Thanks for turning this 'no go zone' into something we can confidently step foot in now! We'll be back! :-)”

“My partner and I recently visited Nero cafe in Huddersfield city centre and had a truly delightful experience. We both ordered decaf cortados, and the quality of the coffee was exceptional—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. What truly stood out during our visit, however, was the excellent service provided by Alex. From the moment we arrived, Alex was both friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere in the cafe was also pleasant, creating a comfortable space to relax and enjoy our drinks. Overall, it was a memorable visit, and we’re looking forward to returning. If you’re in Huddersfield and in search of a great cup of coffee paired with excellent service, Nero cafe is definitely worth a visit.”

Friendly bar staff, few decent ales (Guinness and Worthingtons) along with the typical lagers and bottled drinks available. Usually very quiet on a Tuesday evening. Have seen it busier on match days since it's just up the hill from the stadium.”

“St George's Square is a clean and open space in Huddersfield town centre. It as a water feature that operates in the summer months, a large, bronze statue of one time prime ministers Harold Wilson who was born in Huddersfield. The stunning buildings that surround the square include the grade1listed railway station that was opened in 1847 and described by John Betjeman as "the most splendid in England." The station incoperates 2 bars at either side. Another architectural and historical building is the grade 2 listed building, The George Hotel which is where in 1895 the birth of Rugby League took place. This hotel is presently closed but rumours continue to circulate that this one time splendid hotel may be opened in time for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The whole Square is surrounded by some of Huddersfield's most impressive buildings which also include Lion Chambers, Britannia Buildings and Tites building to name a few. St George's Square hosts many events including in December a four day Food and Drink festival and Festival of Light just to name a couple. In the summer months this Square is a vibrant, busy place and a real treasure of Huddersfield.”
