“Absolutely wonderful evening at La Fortezza. Great vegetarian options; the staff even let me have a vegetarian calzone despite it not being on the menu. Fine for those with peanut allergies, and great selection of desserts. The atmosphere was lovely but the thing that made La Fortezza stand out from all of the other restaurants was the service. We were served by a lovely girl with silver hair and another girl with curly hair. Both of them were absolutely wonderful and made us feel so comfortable, being kind and personable and never making us feel rushed. We’ll be going back purely because of that- the girls are an asset to the restaurant and made our evenings fantastic!”

“I cannot thank Kings Croft enough for hosting our wedding last weekend. From start to finish, I couldn’t fault them. All staff were attentive and friendly, and were quick to reply to my never ending questions! On the day, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was the best wedding food we’ve ever had! Amazing!”

“This was the first time that I visited the Yorkshire Brasserie. You are made to feel welcome as soon as you enter the restaurant and our breakfast was well presented and very tasty. For the time being there's no on-site parking, although it looks like this will be remedied in the near future. Notwithstanding there is a car park on the right as you head out of town on the A61 Barnsley Road, there is a charge for parking, but it is free on Sundays.”

“It was the first time we've been for pie night and it didn't disappoint. The slice of pie was as big as the welcome we received from the friendly polite staff. The food quality was amazing and if you like your pies full of meat you'll love this place. The kids enjoyed their food and cleared their plates as quick as we did, they even asked to come again and for £3 for pie and £3/£2 for fries,mash or veg well definitely be coming again soon.”

“Lovely breakfast buffet. None of the cheap ingredients that you usually get on a buffet, all proper stuff and very tasty. Have as much or as little as you want for £7.99. Unlimited refills on tea and coffee too. Pub was clean and bright with plenty of seating inside and out. Staff very friendly and helpful. No ales on the bar unfortunately (not that I wanted one with breakfast)”

“Went in on Tuesday 18th March 2025 at 7pm. Ordered 2 fish, 1 chips, peas and a scallop. The fish was fresh as it got fried when we went in. Chips were delicious and the scallops were also quality. One of the best fish shops around.”

“Cash only! Friendly and welcoming Chinese takeaway. Food is nice, didn’t have to wait long even though I didn’t call in advance. Very clean and tidy inside, the plants are well cared for which I always like to see being somewhat of a houseplant addict. I got special fried rice and some spring rolls as was alone. Was really nice. Would recommend.”

“Great small traditional pub. We were in the left side which I think was the Lounge. Very clean and tidy, drinks were a great price with plenty of deals on too. Can’t comment on food as we didn’t have any but the menu looked great with a decent selection and also the prices were pretty decent. Plenty of parking outside too The lady behind the bar was very nice and friendly too which was lovely”
