“We’ve been to Ambiente a few times now and it’s always been a brilliant experience with a great atmosphere. Everyone is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our server was Lorien and she was so lovely. The food was, as usual, absolutely delicious. 5 tapas between us was just right, but we’re not big eaters. The calamari was exceptional. We had a great time and will definitely be going again then next time we’re in York.”

“An absolutely bloody exceptional meal. Lamb chops, still slightly pink, seasoned to perfection. Complex curries, very spicy, but still delicious and enjoyable. Lovely chippies, massively tasty naan bread. Not exactly service with a smile but professional enough not to detract from the experience. Best part? The price. Two course meal for two and three alcoholic drinks for less than £70. Outstanding. Best curry house in York and definitely in our top three country-wide. Will be thinking about this meal for a while...”

“Our second visit here, after enjoying our first visit so much! Shrija looked after us very well, very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious, so well cooked and presented, and the Cobra slipped down a treat! If you find yourself in York looking for something special then you should definitely try Coconut Lagoon.”

“Seriously delicious food. Walked in without booking on a Sunday and luckily secured a spot. Looking around they were doing multiple shifts of booked tables so next time I'll book in advance to be sure of a place! The staff was very attentive and even brought hot water with lemon when they noticed my aunt had a cough. We weren't charged for it which made us feel seen and appreciated. Waiter was happy and in for a joke but professional nonetheless. Both waiters on duty took time to answer our questions and didn't rush us to order. The food tasted excellent, was served quickly, but didn't feel like it was pre-made. I will definitely be returning.”

“LOVE coming here. Atmosphere is always cosy but vibrant. They constantly do jazz nights and food night. I came today (Monday evening) and it was a bit quieter but it was still a lovely atmosphere. The team are friendly, i just love visiting.”

“now, let me start this review by saying, i’ve hated pizza all my life. pizza has always been one of those foods i rolled my eyes at once mum said we’d be getting some. me and some mates came here after they begged and spoke of how good this pizza was, and i’ve never been happier about trusting friends. this pizza has changed my life morals and ethics. the soft dough, perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. now i love ordering here for a cheeky slice. the workers? nicest people i’ve ever met. honestly, so kind and quick, even on a busy friday.”

“Stayed at the inn for the weekend. Rooms are nice and clean. Right next to the pub, but you can't hear it, even the live music. Pub is lovely. Maybe the menu is lacking choice, but the pizzas are really delicious. Parking doesn't have number plate recognition anymore so no issues with it. There's no breakfast, but café across the road is serving sandwiches and cakes.”

“We've visited this pub restaurant before and loved it. Housed in a Grade II listed building it has a comforting ambience. The menu is definitely meat based and the service is really nice: friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We really like it. We nibbled on some "Blistered Padron peppers with sea salt" - excellent - and then, as we'd had a lunch, we chose to share: - 300g Chargrilled Ex Dairy Ribeye served with beef fat roast tomato, spinach, garlic & watercress pesto, & skinny fries or chunky chips The steak was perfectly cooked - beautifully medium rare, with skinny chips and a delicious brandy-based sauce. No room for pud, unfortunately! A really good meal in a really nice place. (I took the photo after we'd shared the steak and started to eat it! We visited here as a group of 8 for my mother in laws birthday and the staff were so great with the children and let us bring in our own birthday cake. “Wow. This was our first visit and won't be our last! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food was perfect. We visited as two adults and two kids and the staff were fantastic with the kids, making them laugh and including them in the ordering process. The portions were extremely generous and every bring was fresh, hot and full of flavour. There honestly isn't a bad thing to say about this place, even the toilets are pretty!!”
