“I thought the food and service was excellent. However it was very quiet so ambience was difficult to gauge although it’s not the cosiest of spaces and if it was busy I think it would be loud and a bit sterile. Having said that would like to try it again when it is busy just to see.”

“I had a great service from , and he was very helpful with informing me on the new deal I may be able to make use of and made my night fat more enjoyable. Although many orders came in, and it seemed tl be only him on front of house and back. Which increased my wait time a lot. Pizza hir should hire at least another person. You cannot have one person serving customers but also making the pizzas and cooking them for the other customers.”

“My boyfriend and I came here for a few drinks after travelling 4 hours. We couldn't have asked for a better place! Absolutely wonderful pub, couldn't fault the place whatsoever. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and very clean. Will definitely be coming back!”

“April 2025 update - new landlords look like they have a plan ... which sound great. Early days but she is crystal clear and the staff are great. March 2024 update - still pretty darn good. Dec 2023 and new management. 1st visit was a big success. Ales were kept perfectly and all staff very friendly. High hopes going forward. Glad to see it both open and busy.”

“Photos do not do justice to how good this Katu Curry at Yuzu tasted. Crispy chicken (with meat free alternatives availble) topped with a thick Katu sauce, pickled onions, spring onions and spices, layered on a bed of sticky rice. Cannot complain at any element of the dish, we will be returning!”

“Absolutely amazing stay. Beautiful cozy bedroom with the comfiest of beds, slept brilliantly on both nights. The spa was fantastic. Treatments were the best and staff amazing at what they do. Definitely worth a mention. Gary who works front desk at spa makes the place. He is a huge asset. Very welcoming and friendly. He deserves the best review. Hope he gets to see this. We are going through a lot at the moment and Gary went above and beyond for us. He is funny and attentive. Made us laugh and smile and we felt very relaxed and can’t thank him enough.”

“I honestly don't know how they can produce such high quality food as a buffet, with so many available dishes. All the meat was tender, even the beef. They had some unusual dishes to try, like eel sushi, which was delicious and apples cooked in wine, which was the star of the show, in my opinion. Very friendly staff too. We were a group of 6 peoples.We ordered starters and main both.. For the main, 3 of our party had the Steak and each opted for a different sauce option. I chose peppercorn and would recommend this. Steak was juicy and cooked well to a medium rare. Fries were thin and crispy. For dessert I had the Tiramisu . This was the best tiramisu. I tried. I also had a glass of the Merlot this was nice. The toilets were well decorated and flushed effectively. Everything was spot on.. Surely,Would definitely back again..”

“We were starving and found this lovely place to eat. The brother let us try sample of the lamb and delicious chicken. Spoilt for choice We ordered a mixed shawarma. The size was amazing- We had to share 1 between us two. Such good value for money and absolutely delicious full of flavour. We tried the spicy sauced version. Loved it.”

“I have been here twice this year, both times the food was excellent and the staff were lovely. The restaurant itself is nice and has a great view of the river. What more can you ask for? As well as this I am lactose intolerant which can cause problems when eating out, however at this restaurant they have an entire vegan menu and they will adapt pizzas to make them lactose free. The pizza dough recipe here does not contain milk. The staff here take intolerances seriously and are very helpful when you have questions. In my experience, some restaurants act inconvenienced or do not understand when you have a dietary requirement, but I can eat at this restaurant with confidence as I know that the food will not upset my stomach whatsoever which is rare as I have a stomach condition on top of lactose intolerance. They have amazing vegan garlic bread, even my partner was impressed with it. The vegan cheese that they use is really good too, unlike most places. This is our go-to restaurant now in York and I highly recommend it.”

“We hosted our annual trade show pre-dinner at the Biltmore Bar & Grill in York on Tuesday, 14th October, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and always ready to help. Bar service was quick, efficient, and delivered with a friendly smile. The food was outstanding, a wide variety of delicious options, all of excellent quality. Given the size of our group, we opted for a buffet-style setup, which worked perfectly. The staff ensured the buffet was consistently replenished and that everyone was well looked after. I would highly recommend the Biltmore Bar & Grill for future events. Staff couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, spacious room with a FANTASTIC shower, right in the centre of town as well which was perfect for us. “This hotel is a fantastic find with an unbeatable central location—just a 10-minute walk from the train station and directly opposite Betty’s Tea Rooms. My wife and I stayed for two nights and loved every moment. We received a call an hour before check-in to let us know our room was ready, and from the moment we entered, we were impressed by the décor and the warm welcome at reception. Our first night was in the Bank vault down in the basement which was a unique and memorable experience. The original vault door, stylish décor, large TV, strong WiFi, and great heating/air-con made the stay comfortable. We already knew about the quirks—like the open bathroom and occasional noise from above—so nothing came as a surprise. For the second night, we stayed in the Stella Solarium room with a private rooftop hot tub, and it was incredible. Spacious, beautifully decorated with original features, impressive views, and the hot tub pre-heated to 40°C. The hidden door leading to the Pink Bar was a fun touch too. Overall, this is a charming, character-filled hotel with plenty of personality. So if you're looking for a unique and quirky hotel with friendly staff you definitely won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended—10/10.”

“On holiday, stumbled across Indian Ocean. Excellent Service, very friendly. Food was amazing, lamb was beautiful and soft with peppers tomatoes and onions, a dish recommended by a member of staff. Daughter enjoyed her korma and husband sizzling chicken dish. Probably the best Indian we've had. Lovely and clean restaurant, would visit again.”

“Very welcoming and accommodating staff, who were very attentive but not overly so. The food menu was interesting and varied. Everything we ordered was tasty, hot and well presented. The drink selection was comprehensive and nicely chilled. Very dog friendly with a selection of snacks and drinks available for canine friends. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a nice cosy pub atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back.”
