“Really nice locally owned cafe! We had the chicken tikka sandwich on their homemade bread! Menu is small and quite unique so fussier eaters might struggle though there is a note that they are happy to make things off menu if they can! Prices are slightly higher than normal for sandwiches but likely similar to the area. A little cramped inside hence the 4 star for atmosphere. Really worth a visit if you like a unique and different menu as I do!”

“Spice Hub offers an outstanding take out experience. The location is very clean, the staff are extremely friendly, and the menu has plenty of great options. I tried the Tandoori Lamb Chops and the King Prawns with vegetables—both were exceptional and among the best dishes I’ve ever had. I highly recommend Spice Hub to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service.”

“One of my favourite Thai places in York. The food here is absolutely delicious and great as a dine in or takeaway option. The gluten free options are clearly labelled on the menu with quite a few different dishes being gf. The only thing to note is that when I said I was a coeliac, I was told the gf labelled fish cakes wouldn't be suitable due to cooking methods creating cross contamination. While it is really good that the staff are so well trained in dietary requirements and were able to tell me this clearly to prevent me from getting poorly, it is a shame that something labelled gluten free on the menu wasn't ultimately suitable for coeliacs. They instead advised a different gluten free starter which ended being fantastic.”

Staff very friendly and attentive, atmosphere lovely and both my husband and I had the best pizzas we have had in a very long time- the base was light and crisp, toppings we plenty and tasty. There’s lots of info on arrival about paying cash and latest pricing so customers have all the info to make a choice - it’s a really hard time with cost of living for everyone, totally supportive and faultless communication. “Fantastic place to visit, loved the interesting music related decor and whole atmosphere of the cafe. We attended a music bingo night and had a fun time. The owners were great hosts and had put on a fab event. There is a good selection of drinks available, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I would also highly recommend the grilled cheese sandwiches. We had the all-day breakfast and smokestack lighting sandwiches, and they were delicious.”

“Quirky and fun! The decor is all kinds of classic English history with a hearty splash of irreverence, split across a couple buildings that feel like homes rather than a hotel. The room itself was small, but that suited me perfectly — great for a solo traveller. Only thing to note is I’m somewhat tall for a woman and on that bed I just about could touch my toes to the window sill while my head was by the headboard. I thought it was quite fun but taller people might want to take note. Everything was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls are a little thin, like in any old house, so you can hear some bustling in the morning, but I personally found that endearing. The staff were very kind and friendly, and even introduced me to the hotel cat, Teddy! The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town. I come through York frequently so I can say with certainty and delight that I’ll be staying here again! Thanks again to the staff for a lovely experience.”

It was the perfect venue to look after such a big party and they did exceptionally well, comes highly recommended and I shall definitely be going back. Jess never stopped smiling and was exceptionally polite and Alex was just as good, funny and charming. Exemplary service from these two which really matched the quality of the food. We all enjoyed the steak, which was cooked perfectly as ordered. Absolutely fantastic restaurant and well deserving of its reputation and very good value on a Thursday steak night.”
