“We visited the pub on a Friday night to enjoy the quiz. It was an exceptional atmosphere and the bar staff (Megan, Ollie, and Jonathan) were brilliant, they served us promptly and knew the menu well. It was very apparent that they all had exceptional team work, which says a lot about the management too. While, completing the quiz we order some of the sides off the menu, warm, tasty and just enough to fuel the brain for the quiz and served from Elouise with a smile. She also ensured all the order was correct and felt with all our needs. While ordering our food and drinks Megan tempted us with extras. It was well worth it… excellent upselling and good effort from the chefs putting it together. All in all a very worth while visit. Thank you to the Trigger pond team”

“Mark is the best landlord because he is very relaxed and let's his customers enjoy a nice quiet pint. The pub always has various events throughout the year and they also donate to a couple of local charities such as the Shannon Bradshaw Trust which I happen to be a trustee for Shannon Bradshaw Trust. I find the pub is very busy at weekends and everyone is friendly. Highly recommend this pub to friends and my customers.”

“Friday night fish supper for £5, better than a chippy takeaway! Fish perfectly battered with chunky chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. It was delicious.”

“17th December 2025 Wandering Wednesday took Hubby and I not too far away, to The Rams Head in Grappenhall, Warrington. This picturesque little, tiny cobblestone village is so beautiful, especially when it’s been snowing, picture postcard and I’m sure filming has been done there in the past, only a couple of pubs, couple of houses and a beautiful church. The menu has plenty to offer but with it being near to Christmas, we both decided to go with something lighter as Christmas is full of rich heavy foods…. So on that note we both had the same: Ole faithful…. Fish and chips, accompanied with minted mushy peas, curry sauce and creamy tartar sauce, we both ordered a couple of slices of bread and butter. Our servers were very professional, polite and attentive, I only got the name of one of the ladies, Lauren…. Who is a totally credit to this establishment, thank you for today Lauren. Food was piping hot and tastsy.”

“We've been In the Rope and Anchor a few times as a family and had food. Each time we've really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was brilliant, the service and food was amazing, but most importantly the landlord was so engaging, friendly, and tonight my son and partner came in, and the landlord encouraged my son to play darts with them, he's buzzing and really enjoyed himself!”

“Had a lovely meal at the weekend with the family and everyone was happy with their food. The menu has a good selection so should cater for everybody. Our server was very friendly and helped accommodate one of our dietary requirements. There's a very large beer garden section outside which is great for a sunny day. Carpark is on the smaller side.”

“A lovely, relaxed family meal with excellent service at both the bar and carvery. I particularly appreciated that the bar person asked if we had any vouchers to use, and still applied a discount when we said “no”. That felt like a commitment to giving true value and great customer service. The carvery options were still hot and plentiful, even though it was later in the day, and the food itself was delicious. I will definitely be back!”

“Love it, cozy in the inside with loads of seating. They also have a good seating at their beer garden. Food is affordable and was impressed with it, definitely coming back and trying other stuff. Staff were very friendly and very nice, they kept on clearing tables of glasses. Menu had good choices of food and I liked the kids menu which was very affordable too. My kids enjoyed the mini play ground at the beer garden.”

“This is the best fish and chips shop around. The portions are large and reasonably priced for the portion size. I have even tried some of their chinese meals which I just love. The owner and staff are always friendly and very helpful Please give them a go and you will see why so many people love this place.”

“I wandered in on a silent Friday night at approximately 20:28 on the 2023rd year of our lord. My thirst was unimaginable, however the bar staff used their arcane knowledge developed over decades of research to help me quench my hefty thirst. I shall be returning in the not too distant future in order to dwell on my most recent adventures with fellow travellers. Would recommend to thou friends.”

“Ordered flowers online for Mother's Day. Came on the day I booked and were a nice arrangement that my Mum was pleased with.”

“I had the Ramen with pork belly. Simply yummy, but if you can't eat spicy food, let them know. It's a very big portion, perhaps a little too much for small eaters.Also ordered the bao bun but yet to try it, so can't comment yet.”
