“Had a great evening. The building is beautiful being situated right on the river, but the internal decor is just fantastic, giving real redneck American vibes. From the moment I arrived all of the staff were great. Really friendly and attentive without being over the top and annoying. I had fajitas which were incredible - genuinely tasty! I finished off with a rum milkshake. Not going to lie, I felt like I was going to have a food coma when I left. Really great evening. Great food and great service. Thank you!”

“Visited near Christmas in an afternoon for lunch. The food was really nice - and a little bit more unusual for what you'd normally expect from a 'tourist attraction' type place! The staff were friendly and helpful with assisting with a gluten intolerance that one of our party has. Would definitely recommend for if you are visiting Chester Zoo!”

The staff were amazing, we went for my birthday and they gave us several drinks on the house, all specially selected to couple well with each course. “Classic Chester city centre pub with low beams and darker interior although the music livened the place up nicely. Enjoyed my visit and a decent selection of real ales and candles lit on all the tables adding to a nice relaxing vibe. Looks historical on the outside and even more so after you enter.”

“Great find off the beaten track alongside a canal. This spot offers a great relaxing atmosphere with comfortable indoor or outdoor seating and friendly staff. Great selection of Gin's and beers on offer, we didnt have food here so cant comment there. Well worth the visit. While in Chester, this a must visit.”

“Very much enjoyed a sweet treat and fruit juice on my visit. The service was perfect and all the staff attentive and friendly. The surroundings; a little bit of old fashioned luxury. I was seated at 11.45am and the restaurant was really starting to fill up by 12.15pm so I would recommend booking in advance if possible. The caramel, chocolate and crumble tart shown was heavenly!”

“Popped in here on Easter Sunday as in the area on the off-chance they would be able to fit us in without a booking. The guy at the door was super friendly and helpful and managed to get us a table. Not a huge amount of vegetarian/vegan options on the menu but what we did have was really good.”

“This place is consistently spectacular. Amazingly authentic Turkish food, family run by the most beautiful friendly people and an incredibly fun and vibrant atmosphere. We come from Manchester every year for our wedding anniversary and this place never disappoints. We had the mixed meat platter for 2 and wowzers, come hungry because the portions are huge but so so delicious. We finished the evening talking with the owner into the early hours. She is a lovely lady and we will be back next year”

“I had the pleasure of inviting my beloved friends whom introduced me to this place ( they are live in Chester and I am an Architect from Kurdistan region of Iraq) to have a delightful lunch with my family, all five members agrees that the best fish and chips we had in UK was in this restaurant; we’ve tried several in London , Liverpool and Manchester but nothing to beat this restaurants fish and chips , also had their chicken sort of pie looking dish , perfect as well , very nice interior and outdoor seating and garden , Salut to the team and polish lady who served us.”

“I received a warm welcome as I popped in to the ship inn today. A very kind gentleman closely resembling Harry Hill even showed me to a fabulous upstairs seating area. This was perfect for a warm summers day as the breeze through the bifolds was most welcome. The food came promptly and was home cooked. On Mondays it’s even half price! A surprise find as I don’t often cross over the river. The Ship Inn is situated on the river Dee bridge. On this occasion I was walking but suspect there’s a small car park opposite. The ground floor is accessible and has a loo situated here for those with mobility or creaky knees you should be fine. Nice beer lovely food and very welcoming staff I highly recommend and won’t leave it so long to cross the river next time!”

“I visited visited the Carlton for the 1st time last night. It was their open mike night and it was amazing.There was one singer guitarist there who was particularly amazing. He did a rendition of the Temptation's 'Papa was a Rolling Stone', one of my favourite all time songs. I cant remember ever having heard it being done so well. He had the most amazing diverse voice, he seemed to be able to do anything with it, from the highest register, to the lowest bass. Least to say I'll be back. I should add that I met some very nice, friendly people”

“As a regular at Neighbourhood for lunch when in Chester , we booked private room for our son and daughter in laws wedding celebration evening. The small annex room was perfect for a small gathering. “Came here on Saturday with a group of friends for Bottomless Brunch. The service was exceptional, couldn't find a fault. The staff were helpful and friendly, as well as making sure we were topped up. Fodd was absolutely delicious. We definitely got our money's worth. Would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. “I arrived at my reservation earlier than others had booked to dot a change i. Scheduled. When I arrived at the restaurant I explained the situation. Without a doubt they sat me down. The service was quick and effective. Food was perfect. I had a great time in a great atmosphere”

“Came here early on a Friday night for a meal for 2. The Christmas menu had just came into effect and was superb, we both had the portabello mushroom to start, the slow braised beef with winter veg for mains and I also managed to fit in the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. The service was impeccable and Callum who I think is either the supervisor or manager had an immediate knowledge of kitchen stock when we asked for oysters (we ended up getting 10 of the remaining 12!) The other male server was very friendly, attentive but not to the point of annoyance and made sure we had everything we needed and even anticipated that we might want extra plates and cutlery when sharing the dessert. The only improvements I can think of would be to ensure cutlery arrives before or concurrently with the food. I waited for a couple of minutes salivating in front of my brownie before the spoons arrived. However this didn’t detract from the whole experience. Also, a mobile card machine would be more convenient.”

“Totally love this place for takeaway's, the food is always excellent quality and deliciously hot even when being delivered, we have never had a meal turn up luke warm or cold. When collecting the staff are always super friendly and the owner always goes above and beyond for his customers. We were devastated to hear of the fire that occurred there and really missed our takeaways from there while the refurb was taking place. So glad to be able to return to our regular place as nowhere else comes close in comparison.”
