“This is a great place for a walk, and really great if you have kids that like to run around a lot and like wind turbines. Parking is reasonably priced, but not free. The visitor's centre is a beautiful building which has information, a shop, and a cafe inside. Dogs are welcome in the cafe. Outside of that is a playground area with swings, slides, and a good network of ropes as a climbing frame.”
“I've been both drinking and gigging in here for over 5 years. The more things change in the area, the more things stay the same, and the Three Cups always manages to establish a balance of both! From the amazing selections of both in-house and guest ales and gins, to the amazing live music and the always-attentive and friendly customer service, this pub has it all. A perfect pub experience. You can find me propping up the bar every other week.”
“Hands down the best burger in Bedfordshire and by far the best burger I have ever eaten! Service was great, very friendly staff and holds a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back for more!”
“Had a lovely lunch at this beautiful village pub today. I loved the vegetable pakora and king prawn risotto and my husband was very happy with his sea bass! Our kids loved the food too. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely go back!”
“Came here with some work colleagues for a leaving do. The brunch was brilliant and highly recommended bottomless drinks for two hours what a bargain, the young Lady Georgia who served us was amazing nothing was a problem and kept us well stocked and even gave us some party hats. Thanks Georgia.”
“Really lovely pub and restaurant, been here a few times as it's local and has a good atmosphere. We enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day dinner at The Pheasant, the food was lovely, very kid-friendly and the lady who took our order and served us was really accommodating.”
“Warm atmosphere, and the new menu is great, the buttermilk burgers are a personal favourite, also the topped fries!”
“The food and the staff at the cafe I go to every day are great; the food is delicious. I highly recommend it to everyone”
“I’m a regular most days here - they have great coffee, good food and it’s also decent value! Friendly and efficient customer service, especially when Anthony is on duty in the mornings.”
“Two separate bars (one typically louder than the other) and beer garden out the back. Beer lines kept nice and clean. Landlady is really friendly and welcoming and love the two dogs Bella and Baxter. Only one of few pubs left with darts board, pool table and sky/bt sports. Locals are characters and sometimes a little bit loud on weekend but that's to be expected :) Has live music or DJ most weekends but quiet during the week for a good game of cards. No food but chippy over the road.”
“Very friendly atmosphere. Sat chatting away to the barman (didn't catch his name) and the locals. Beer prices very good for the area. Would recommend!”
“Had a lovely afternoon tea here . With my friends and family . The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They where very accommodating to our needs . Like vegetarians ,Gluten and Dairy free .”

“Excellent coffee shop. Didn’t try the food but the Americano was perfect.”
“Brilliant lads who run the store always welcoming gives me good deals all the time and is always helpful would recommend”
“Since The Mulberry Bush changed ownership, it has undergone an incredible transformation! You can immediately feel that the new management has put their heart and soul into the place. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of life – perfect for an evening out with friends or a quiet drink. The staff are always smiling, helpful, and truly care about making guests feel comfortable. The pub is clean, well-kept, and the refreshed decor has managed to preserve the traditional, cozy character. The drinks selection is great (the Guinness, in particular, is excellent), and there are plenty of activities like pool, darts, and a big screen for watching sports. The beer garden is another big plus, especially on warmer days. They also host live music nights and karaoke, creating an amazing vibe and bringing people together from across the area. You can really see and feel that The Mulberry Bush has become the heart of the local community. I’m so glad this place ended up in good hands – the changes have made a huge difference for the better. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great pub with a fantastic atmosphere and positive energy!”
“Always friendly service, reasonable prices, tasty food and great vegan options”
“Really good food. Serves kebabs, pizza, fish, pies and sausages all for a good price and they're pretty generous with their portions, especially the chips. All of the ingredients are fresh too.”
“This is a lovely restaurant literally on the river Thames. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. There is lots of parking but the hotel next door had taken it all for a function it seems. Wide vegan and gluten free options. Slightly more expensive than average but worth it .”
“Nice little town pub... not overly busy, light fresh atmosphere”
“Lovely straightforward but substantial meal, delightful landlady, 100% would return again when we're back in the area.”
“Amazing food as per.. service was great and attentive and friendly.. was last night of the 50% discount tonight and the place was full to capacity!! But staff were doing their best to deal with the busy night. Service took a little longer than usual but was to be expected.. a few more staff would have helped the workload but was excellent none the less.. the food was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed it.. will be one of my go to places in future.. thanks for a lovely eve.”
“We had an incredible experience at The Three Tuns. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm and hospitable—Alex and his team were absolutely first-class. The food was phenomenal; the roast dinner was packed with flavour, featuring perfectly cooked meats, seasonal vegetables, and generous portions that came out piping hot. Every single detail felt thoughtful and well-executed. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, perfect for our family gathering. Honestly, it was worth every penny. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back!”
“Great local pub sadly a thing of the past due to the UK A Gem in Troubled Waters This pub is an absolute treasure—a place where community spirit thrives, and the atmosphere feels like a warm embrace. The staff are welcoming, the drinks are poured to perfection, and the food reminds you of what traditional pub fare should taste like: hearty, comforting, and made with care. However, it’s hard to ignore the shadow looming over pubs like this across the UK. With the relentless rise in costs and the lack of meaningful support from the government, these small havens are fighting battles they shouldn’t have to face. The ever-growing prices make it harder for both the owners and the patrons to keep these cherished establishments afloat. It’s heartbreaking to think that such vital community hubs could one day be a thing of the past. So, while this pub deserves every ounce of praise, it’s a stark reminder of what we stand to lose if things don’t change. Support your local pub—it’s worth every penny, and then some.”
“If you’re a sports fan then this is a great pub - loads of screens throughout along with a dart board and pool table too. Plenty of space should you be in a group and quiet areas throughout as well. Outside there’s a good garden, split into two areas , which is tidy and well kept. Friendly bar staff and a good vibe throughout - a really nice pub.”
“Perfect pint of Guinness, great prices, good people and nice atmosphere! Will 100% be making the trip back here sometimes!”
“Great experience! Visiting Bedford with my 14yo daughter, she steps in and likes what she sees, asks the very nice lady behind the bar about vegeterian options, but we are short of time. Next day we ride into town, go straight into Bar Citrus and have some great time over an english veggie breakfast :) Service is fast and pleasant with a side of smile, all clean and comfy, lovely food to top it all - Definitely can recommend to anyone looking for a quiet eat or a pint with a friend!”
“Highly recommend this venue. The food is absolutely beautiful. Seriously people got to be 1 of the best boozer s in Bedford. Chef deserves a Michelin star. Gentle Man to boot.”
“This cafe is of the highest standard in my opinion. Service is always with a smile and Lisa our server is always very friendly and helpful when we visit. The food is tasty and well cooked, the fish and chips are the best in the area and the curry is superb. The Chef is not stingy with the portions either, there's always plenty on the plate. The seating area is large and clean with views over the downstairs sale rooms on one side and the large car park on the other. Prices have increased slightly but the quality justifies it I think. It's a good place to eat even if you don't want to go to the auction downstairs.”
“This is a very pleasant little local cafe attached to a very well stocked haberdashery and craft shop. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and a good range of snacks, light meals and, most importantly, cakes are available. Though not itself located in the most scenic part of Oakley, this cafe makes a useful final stop for a local walk.”
