“My everyday local for lunch and rather frequently, pints of course. Can't fault it - since the change in ownership this pub has provided many great lunches as well as a friendly and homely place to drink. Thank you to all of the staff who are, without exception, fantastic and accommodating. Would always recommend to a local or to anybody passing by!”

“I went to a private event here where they provided food and, because I'm vegan, they provided me with my own separate plate of food, with vegan cheese and other yummy things! They also did the same for another guest with dietary requirements (gluten free). I was really impressed and their service was lovely and friendly too. They were also dog friendly :)”

“We ordered Platter for 4 people, and it was absolutely fantastic! The portions were generous, the presentation was beautiful, and every single item tasted fresh and full of authentic flavour. The mix of kebabs, curries, rice, roti, naan, and sides made it a perfect meal to share. The spices were perfectly balanced — rich, aromatic, and comforting without being overwhelming. The meats were tender and well-marinated, and the biryani had that classic, irresistible Pakistani aroma. The naan was soft and fresh, and the chutneys added the perfect finishing touch. This platter is great value for money and ideal for families or groups. We all loved it and will definitely be ordering again. Highly recommended!”

“I have bought food from the Marina for about 6 years now. I’m in no way a regular customer, I’ve probably averaged once or twice a year, but I still wanted to review. Tonight, I got their isiewu, beans , plantain and assorted meat, and suya. Really really tasty, very generous portions and authentic Nigerian food. The owner’s customer service has also greatly improved. He’s nice, and will greet you with a smile and chat with you if you’re so inclined. Highly recommended.”

“Been to this hotel a few times now. Love the location, great for a middle point for shopping and Rock City. There's an Irish lady who works in the pub who has a lovely personality and makes me feel at ease when ordering. I do not know her name, but will make a point of asking next time .”

“Fantastic Bottomless Brunch at Escobar! Visited Escobar for their bottomless brunch and had such a great experience! You get 2 hours of unlimited cocktails, wine, and beer, plus two delicious tapas each — and everything was absolutely spot on. The drinks came out super fast, and the service was amazing throughout. The staff were really attentive and made sure our glasses were never empty. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun, relaxed brunch with great vibes and even better service!”

“It's been a long time since this place was the Old Vic. First time we'd been here as we don't tend to visit this part of town too often. Very nice place indeed ! Pleasant staff, lovely, clean surroundings and a nice atmosphere. We only popped in for a 'swift half' to see what it was like - ended up staying a couple of hours and having fab pizzas there too! 2 for 1 pizzas at that (both have to be the same). Good selection of beers, ales and ciders(try the Berliner Pilsner!) and great food, I could have had 1 of everything! We'll be back, thanks guys!”

“Great pub! Because the drinks are reasonable as is the food. Even better if you like to watch Nottingham Forest footy matches on the massive screen! Or other teams matches. I’m not a footy fan, but lots of people are so it’s a great location. There are other areas too, away from the match. Staff do a good job but like a lot of places these days there’s not much human engagement at all - especially if you order online. Very quick online service on a Sunday afternoon.”

“Had no money and politely asked to use the toilets and was granted access. Was able to suit and boot myself to no expense. Seems popular and chilled out. Also managed, the scruff I am to appropriate some tobacco unselfishly not made obsolete with tap water. A tragic ploy by some landlords but not these. “Hi, this is a great family pub.tou can take your kids it's also good for the atmosphere. Darts and pool are still popular, the pub does rub it's own teams if that's what your after. They do have a garden during the summer months and do accept party bookings. All in all a nice typical British pub.”
