“Fabulous little venue with tasty food and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to cafe roya, it was my sister’s birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make her feel special. Really appreciate small venues like this that have staff who make you feel welcome and comfortable in their restaurant. All dishes were super fresh and tasty making me want to come back for more and work my way through the menu. Along with their brilliant staff and food they make stunning cocktails which again , you can’t stop at just the one! Can’t wait to visit again, very tempted by the sound of the lunch menus!”

“Absolutely amazing, woman was so friendly, shop was immaculately clean, she gave us samples before we brought so we knew exactly what we wanted and the curry lentil & jerk is absolutely amazing! 100% recommended!”

“The first time we came they only supplied coffee and cake, but now they offer lunches. Yay. The first thing that strikes me, it’s a lovely atmosphere. Nice and friendly staff and customers. It’s great to see they welcome laptop working and have a fair guide available to see. Encouragement for extended laptop working is upstairs with a nominal fee. Parking is available in the Broxtowe’s car park is opposite or if you can keep you visit time down to 30mins there is free street parking round the corner (we managed 35 mins and didn’t get a ticket). It is on the tram route with a stop just 2 mins up the road. The tomato soup with sourdough was lovely. The facilities are spacious and clean.”

“We came in on a busy saturday morning for brunch, staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. There was some building fault towards the end of our time there that meant they were closing early but the staff handled it amazingly and we never knew there was an issue, and we weren’t rushed to leave after they decided the kitchen had to be closed. Definitely will be making this a regular spot for weekend treats.”

“Such a lovely place to visit! There’s convenient parking along the canal, just a short walk to the Heritage Centre. I only stopped for a coffee this time, but the café offers plenty of food and drink options, with both indoor and outdoor seating. There’s lots of interesting history to read about, and the surrounding area is beautiful — perfect for a stroll along the canal. A short walk takes you to Beeston Marina, and a little further on is the stunning Attenborough Nature Reserve. A fantastic spot to spend a few relaxing hours. Definitely worth a visit — you’ll really enjoy your time here!”

“Absolutely fantastic evening spent with my friends at The Commercial tonight. Great selection of drinks, wonderful staff, brilliant atmosphere and above all the food was outstanding! I had the lamb shank which was cooked to perfection, really tender meat, beautiful minted gravy along with the smoothest mash potato ever it was all absolutely delicious! The portion size was very generous so great value for money. Given the place was packed our waiting time was only 25 minutes. We will definetly be visiting again we all cleaned our plates! Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so enjoyable.”

“We had some cocktails from the happy hour menu which were so good! The food was amazing too and the service was so friendly. Our bartender (Lauren) was so nice - we chatted to her and found out it was her first day! You would never have known, she was awesome. “What a gem! Not just a micro bar. Authentic, delicious Sri Lankan home cooking. We're lucky to have this in Beeston. I had mainly the veggie dishes but the chicken was lovely too, and I'm told the mutton dish was also gorgeous. First visit and we'll be back! The food is cooked fresh on the day, you can tell it's made with love, and if you like, or want to try, Sri Lankan food, you must visit!”

“The food here is super flavorful and tasty. Best Indian food I have had in nottingham. It's got clean flavors, value for money and the host really cares for the food she makes and its evident from the tasty food. I have tried samosa chat, masala chai and aloo paratha. The samosa is perfectly crisp and the potato filling is really good paired with curd and chickpea curry and chutneys. This place is a must try.”

“We were dropping our son to the University of Nottingham end of September and stumbled upon Compà in Beeston on our first night of arrival. It was our son’s suggestion and we decided to check it out! I am so glad we did! The food was delicious and it was like visiting a family - cosy, warm ambiance and pretty lights inside that made it feel festive and special on a week night. We were pretty tired after flying from US to London, than taking a train to Nottingham the next morning so it was especially nice to sit down and take time to enjoy this place, yummy food while we planned next few days. We stroke a conversation with the owner who turned out to be such a wonderful kind person and it made us feel even more comfortable and welcome. It was a lovely experience and a warm welcome. Would highly recommend! Moments like this make sweet memories and have special place in my heart. Grateful for discovering this restaurant and meeting Angela. Many thanks!”

For anyone local or further afield make this a stop off point when going for a walk around Attenborough, look carefully on your maps and you will find a twitchel that brings you out opposite the Bistro from near the Trent circular walk. “had a brilliant first experience at bistro 66 - visited with 3 friends for a birthday and it was lovely! our waitress Valentina provided excellent service, she was so welcoming, helpful and organised a birthday sparkler during dessert. the restaurant is really nice inside, clean and a great atmosphere. the food was delicious and well priced. we had a brilliant evening and will be back soon!”

“Fair and reasonable price, good taste, feels like a family-run cafe, friendly staff, the environment is not particularly beautiful but clean and tidy, great atmosphere, many local residents gather here with friends for breakfast and brunch, everyone enjoys their meal with a happy mood. The decoration of the hot chocolate is beautiful and brings joy to people's hearts.”

“Excellent! I had received recommendations to come here and I'm so pleased I did. They are so very friendly, have great human and dog menu's. I had a toasties for lunch and it came with humour (or colslaw), crisps and a side salad. I was totally stuffed after all that and the food quality was excellent. The coffee is also delicious and strong but smooth. I really highly recommend coming to the Dog and Bear. Bring your doggies too.”

“Lovely little micropub with a few kegs on tap and cask too! Well kept beer as far as I can tell. Nice local atmosphere and decor, I like that they have lots of traditional ales along with the usual craft stuff. It's all table service and the staff are friendly, for what it is the beer is also very well priced. Menu is now via a qr code. Pleased to call it my local.”

“I had booked a table for dinner as all my friends rave about the food. They weren't wrong!!! We ordered the set menu as well as an additional three dishes and everything was super delicious and freshly prepared. The Asian slaw is absolutely incredible, best I've ever had! As usual we had ordered too much food but I took the leftovers home to have for lunch. The staff were welcoming and seated us straight away and we're attentive taking our orders etc. It's not the most romantic place to go and eat but overall the atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was really busy. I cannot wait to go back!”

“Wonderful little gem of a cafe that we discovered by chance, friendly atmosphere and the lady who served us could not do enough for us. Lovely range of smoothies, milkshakes and frappes, including what was maybe the best vanilla frappe we’ve ever had! Also has a small range of menu options with the normal light lunch classics such as sandwiches, roasties, jacket potatoes etc, well priced, delicious with well-sized portions. Thank you Metro, we will be back again (and again!) :)”
