“What a fantastic accommodating pub. I work at Ability health and social care we do regular visits and the staff are so approachable. They are very patient and as a community pub they have no prejudices. If anything the staff at the Britannia go the extra mile for us and make our weekly visits an enjoyable activity. Yvonne”

“Had a family Christmas dinner and the food was fantastic in both quantity and quality. 3 course meal and as hard as I tried I just couldn't finish it. The staff were very friendly and we were able to have a laugh and a joke with them. I would definitly recommend”

“We had an early dinner and a couple recommended the pies. After a starter of prawn cocktail I had the game pie and my wife had the beef and ale pie. Omg they were amazing. We each had a whole pie just swapping a half of the other persons. Cooked to perfection with vegetables, mash and delicious gravy. I would highly recommend a visit not just for the food but the staff are also very welcoming and friendly and make the experience even better.”

“This pub was recommended by my parents as a good place for a meal and a real ale, on the day of the booking I admit to looking at the reviews and getting a bit worried, however I have got to say it did not disappoint, 5 (I think) Titanic beers plus 3 guest, the decor was traditional pub, with lovely Christmas lights, managed to find space in the car park too. The food was excellent, we had 5 different meals all really nice, steak, gammon, fish pie, fish and chips and a burger, real chips as well! Followes by 5 desserts, the crumble was a very good portion, and the stick toffee Christmas pudding was delicious. The lady who took our orders and delivered food was fantastic and provided great service all night. I would like to return in daylight so I can appreciate the countryside next time!”

“The Calver Arms manages to cater well for locals and visitors/walkers alike, a mix we saw when we called for lunch. New decor very pleasant. The food, pub classics done well, was very good. Steak and Ale Pies had a firm crust, good filling and served with chips and gravy. The Shepherds Pie, made from pieces of lamb shoulder, was also very good. Both served with slice cabbage, peas and carrots which was a good accompaniment. A nice pint of Chatsworth Gold. A good option if you are walking in the area or just passing by.”

“My partner and I have just had our wedding ceremony and party at the Bateman's mill, I must say, everything set up absolutely perfectly, we even had a huge hog roast on the spit, the function room set up was planned perfectly with space for the singers and room to shake the tail feather. Great choice of drinks to suit everyone my person favourite being the Boston American gentleman and a good choice of spirits and soft drinks . “The food was very nice, couldn't fault it, would recommend. It wasn't very busy due to going on a Sunday and booked at 8pm but that just meant we had the place to ourselves. Starter was very good and mains also!”

“Excellent Sunday lunch. Nice pub with a traditional pub feel, and a dining room facing onto a nice pub garden. Service was friendly and quick. Food was good. Had the trio roast which was tasty. Portion size was excellent (big). Roast had I think three meats, stuffing, roasties, mash, parsnip, carrots, cabbage, leeks and I think peas. Excellent value at 19 quid. I also had a side of pigs in blankets which I really didn't need but where also good. Whilst we don't have dogs, also loved the free doggie treats and water bowls for four legged friends as nice touch you don't often see. This was our first time here and we will definitely be going again.”

“A spontaneous breakfast date for my husband and I. We had been here for drinks before but never eaten. It was incredible, our hostess Sarah was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, big smile on her face and a quick chat everything she stopped by. How she got around the restaurant serving everyone so fast I will never know but she was a stellar hostess. The food was beyond delicious, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the sausage and bacon was mouth-watering. The lovely surprise of unlimited coffee was definitely a boon. The restaurant was nice and quiet, the atmosphere wonderfully calm. We had a lovely much needed date and chose the perfect place. Thankyou to all at the Harvester for a wonderful visit.”

“Came here for a family meal out. Our first visit and we was not disappointed. The pub is decorated to a very good standard with a warm and welcomimg feel, the staff were really polite and courteous too and the food menu was very extensive and exciting. Of course we had to try the platters and had our 1st taste of chicken burger with candy floss cola dip n sherbet dib dab lol which was tastebud tantalizing to say the least... Popcorn with cola sauce too. Portions were more than generous and worth every penny. Was delighted to find an outside play area at the back of the pub for the little ones. Had a wondeful time here and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend this venue you will not be disappointed. Thankyou to all the staff for a memorable day out. Much appreciated.”

“Had my daughters 21st party a few weeks ago in the function room , it was enjoyed by everyone . Great room, great help from Brandon who kept in touch by message throughout and helped me with every aspect of the party and the room was perfect . Would highly recommend it and will definitely book the room again . We had different age groups and the different styles of seating suited them all .”

“My room was comfortable and clean. It had plenty of tea, coffee, etc. Had a smart tv and a decent shower. The ladies in the bar were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast the next morning was tasty and good value at £7.95 for a small, including a hot drink. A couple of minor negatives are. The hireable venue opposite may keep people awake for a while. It depends on how much of a light sleeper you are. Also, the room was really bright early in the morning.”
