“I like going to QFT as it is a good venue, and I have been to see several films since I signed up for membership in June. I leave my car behind & get the train to Botanic Station, which is not far away. The staff are very nice and there is a bar area where you can enjoy a snack & a hot or a cold drink or something stronger.”

“Not your average jazz venue and certainly not for the faint of heart. These are serious virtuosi playing serious jazz! Great venue, great musicians and great value for money. This is not tourist jazz or a place to sip overpriced cocktails whilst having a chat, in case you're wondering. This is a place to sit back, sip on a peated whisky, listen carefully and think "how on earth did he just do this?" (Talking mainly about Scott's left hand, which somehow seems to come from a different planet than his right hand)”

“A real hidden gem, just 10 mins on the train out of Belfast. The service was brilliant, really knowledgeable without being intimidating or pushy, and instead helped us order without overdoing it. The wine selection by the glass was great, and good value too, again, great recommendations. The food is the real star of the show, we went for the lightly grilled oysters, the jambons (which really feel like one of those dishes you’ll be craving every few days after), the moreish artichokes, steak tartare Caesar salad which was great fun, skate wing and their signature crispy potatoes. The food comes out when it’s ready in a really clever order, no rushing. The Veda treacle tart was a standout for dessert, and ask for a ‘Belfast coffee’ - like an espresso martini but nicer. By no means cheap, but quality of ingredients and the vibes were brilliant. We’ll be back again!”

Both entrees were well prepared and attractively presented. Desserts were tasty and a delicious end to a memorable dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant.”

“Superb, traditional and bustling pub with music downstairs, lovely restaurant upstairs. Had the Irish stew, really decent and hearty although portion not massive for the money but you pay for the central location and with a side or starter would have been fine. Ordered and had the food in less than 5mins as they have it on the go. Lots on the menu, was served by the lovely Roisin who was so friendly and helpful. It was so good I came back the next day as she'd recommended the ham and champ but sadly missed out as didn't realise they close the kitchen just after 8. I gather the pub is the oldest in town, it's got bags of character and was the prettiest I visited in Belfast.”

    Sunflower Public House

    ★★★★☆ 4.7 (2,617 Reviews) Top rated Open

“The Sunflower Public House is a distinctive and much-loved pub located on Union Street, just behind Belfast Central Library and near the University of Ulster. It's known for its authentic character and a slightly alternative vibe, standing out from more commercial establishments. One of its most recognizable features is the security cage on its front door, a relic from 1980s Belfast that has been intentionally preserved as part of the city's social history, now serving as a unique talking point and a symbol of resilience. Music is central to the Sunflower's identity. It regularly hosts traditional, Appalachian, and Gypsy Swing sessions, as well as folk and bluegrass. The pub prides itself on offering a wide selection of craft beers, including local Northern Irish brews. The Sunflower is widely known as a very dog-friendly pub, welcoming well-behaved dogs both inside and in its beer garden, often providing water bowls and treats. This has made it a favorite among dog owners. The Sunflower Public House is considered a "back to basics" pub, free of gimmicks, and celebrated for its genuine character, excellent music scene, good beer selection, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking an authentic Belfast pub experience.”

“Fantastic little hideaway in the heart of Belfast. Great pub with restaurant upstairs. Good variety of beers and the best pint of Carling (my partner said....EVER!) I had a lovely glass of Chilean Chardonnay beautifully cold. Brilliant prices......how? We had a meal upstairs and it was pure bliss.......he had steak, mushrooms & chips with pepper sauce (proper chips too) and I had seabass with asparagus and mash. Amazing and so inexpensive. Service was great and it's now one of our favourite places to eat! Couldn't fault it.”

“Found this place accidentally and I couldn't be more thankful! Easily one of the best, if not the best, meal of my life. My party of four had: duck, ribs, lamb, and superfood salad as mains and sticky pudding for dessert. It was absolutely incredible! If you have the opportunity it is WELL worth your time. I'd rate this higher if it were possible. Delicious!”
