“Brilliant little coffee van. I go every time I’m there and or near there. Adam is a brilliant dude as well and a good chat when there is time. This is the definition of support local.”
“You know a cafe is good when there is a queue! Fortunately we only waited 10 minutes to be seated. The food was delicious, service was speedy and the price was very competitive. The pistachio latte was incredible, as was all the food. Can highly recommend.”
“Great little shop, hidden away but plenty of parking and has small café run by volunteers. Showcases local produce, and lots of eco bio products. A little more expensive but as a little treat worth it”
“Loving the new Galleries cafe revamp in Freshford! Amazing that its now open longer hours and at weekends. Perfect tea stop after a country walk! We had great service from our lovely waitress Lucy, a scrummy selection of salads, quiches, sandwiches and delicious cakes, and great coffee too, all in the most beautiful location. Idyllic!”

“Popped in early on a rainy morning, so it was quiet. Lovely decor and gentle lighting create a nice atmosphere along with nice music. Lovely Flat White brought to the table after ordering. Was pleased to see laptops were not permitted in certain areas, which is an excellent idea. After all, it's a coffee shop . Nice selection of cakes. However, I was good and refrained.”
“Excellent cup of coffee, we popped in while walking around Bath on a Saturday morning.”
“We stayed overnight and loved it. The room was really comfortable and had a nice view over the river. The pub serves really good food and the staff are really friendly. It is also dog friendly which was great as we had our pup with us. Will definitely stay here again!”
“Had an amazing breakfast bagel here ,it was delicious and possibly the best I've ever had. Generous size and really filling. Highly recommend the short walk from centre . Flat white was also delicious and I'm fussy with my coffee .”
“Excellent venue and very approachable, polite staff. We watched the snow mice and it was brilliant. Will go again.”
“Love to get my takeaway coffee here, the Dubai chocolate cookie was sooo delicious I regret the decision to share it with my partner…”
“Great filter coffee. Not a lot of seating inside but gets the job done. Very friendly baristas and high quality brews.”
“My fave place for a morning hot chocolate and pastry. The food here is always outstanding. Their ham and cheese croissant is incredible. Had steak and frites a while back and still thinking about it! Highly recommend!”
“Lovely afternoon treat at the 'Modiste' to round off a weekend in Bath including a Bridgerton Walking Tour. We were drawn in by the affiliation with the show but the food was truly delicious, the quiche, sausage roll and cakes were shared were lovely. Friendly staff and a brilliant location.”
“Posting reviews is not a habit for me but, just occasionally, it seems necessary. I have just seen a negative comment about Dexter's here, which deserves to be highlighted because it is really so wrong. Dexter's is a fine coffee shop, with a dedicated owner, loyal staff, and many regular and satisfied customers like me. The negative comment is really destructive. The writer, shining her London coffee credentials in truly pompous fashion, weighs in on the owner, the quality of the coffee, the uniqueness of her terrible experience compared to the normal welcome she experiences elsewhere, and ends by telling us all to avoid at all costs. So, first to correct the narrative. Dexter's, in five years of trading in this part of Bath, has brought a community to life. It is a meeting point and a place for conversation, a place where good things in life are celebrated, and not so good things are comforted. The coffee is sourced from a reputable local roastery, Extract and the owner knows precisely what her clientele need, which is really good coffee and light snacks, delivered consistently in a great atmosphere. But she is balancing a complex community; the shop is welcoming to owners and dogs, walkers and cyclists, people working and meeting. To keep all of us happy, and her business running, she has to be a manager and a diplomat. She does it brilliantly. Sometimes, people do push things a bit. Cyclists, like me, might lay a bike across the window; or someone may bring their lunch from somewhere else and spread it out for an hour whilst working and drinking one coffee. All without asking. Luckily such things are rare, and nearly always no offence was ever intended, but it is necessary to point out a problem, put it right and carry on. But of course there is always a reviewer out there who, if crossed, feels the power to write a review which slams not one thing, but everything about an establishment. And in doing so, the reviewer shows herself to be a righteously indignant huffer and puffer. Dexter's is great, so is the coffee and the company. Do not avoid. Unless that is, you are one of those negative reviewers who delights in trying to destroy small and valuable businesses. By all means please, you, stay away. See you at Dexter's everyone else!!”
“Had impromptu small meal here with large group (9) during the rain. Lovely atmosphere and sweet staff. Recommend!”
“Place is relatively new build, a couple of years, good location I would say as there is no coffee shop in the proximity. The staff are polite and respectful. The best flat white in Uk is at Costa!”
“One of my favourite cafes in Bath. Such lovely owners, always welcoming you with a smile!! Great coffee and food.”
“I LOVE this branch in Bath! The staff here are always so lovely, the atmosphere inside is so cosy and comfortable- whilst being clean and well-kept. The drinks here have always been well-made and I highly recommend a visit. It's in a stunning location too :)”
“Really huge but cost feeling Caffe Nero. The opening hours are fantastic and the decor is welcoming. Lovely kind staff, really amazing soya hot chocolate and ok vegan Christmas panini. Definitely recommend going to this Caffe Nero. Right next Bath spa and the bus station.”
“My favourite London coffee chain and I've now found it in Bath too. Tucked away on the corner of Union Street, this place is in the centre yet has a calm feel. Standard Soho coffee brilliance; great coffee, chilled atmosphere, modern industrial interior and offers student discount. Definitely worth a visit.”
“We had two flat whites, great coffee! We got lucky and ordered before a lot of people arrived. Got served in good times and sat at one of the tables to enjoy our coffees.”
“I was passing through and just stopped for a quick coffee. The blonde barista with the tattoos served me amazing coffee and was really kind to me. I will definitely come back again. Coffee shops need more employees like her”
“Giant selection of Sandwiches, drinks and snacks for the meal deal, which is reasonably priced. The fast food (Pizza counter and char) is brilliant. It's quick (most days), and tastes brilliant. I had a Pizza Slice and a Mini Garlic pizza for £4, and given the size, and taste it was amazing value. Great for a quick lunch stop.”
