“I recently visited Thekla for the first time and was amazed by how accessible and easy it was for a disabled person to enjoy a gig there. Blue Badge parking is free just outside the door and from a comfy chair on the viewing balcony, you have a wonderful view of the stage (see photos). I was able to climb the few stairs down to the viewing balcony as my assistant carried my walker downstairs and I followed him with my walking sticks. Bit it might not be so easy for someone in a wheelchair. We did not sample the food but had drinks, and the the service at the bar was impeccable. The security staff at the door had been notified of our arrival: they were friendly and ushered us past the queue, which was useful. The Michael Monroe gig we attended was a wonderful experience and I hope there will be something else worth seeing soon, as I would love to return to Thekla.”

“Fantastic food. Very friendly and happy staff members upon arrival and during service. Ella cooked my food brilliantly and set me up perfectly for the rest of my day. The backroom staff Rory, Emma and Tony all came in to check up on me throughout my meal and stay, just ensure it was to my liking. I can highly recommend this place to anyone who is passing by or to anyone living locally. Who doesn't know about this place I'm definitely coming back!”

Sam always tries to arrange groups with similar abilities and so there is no pressure and everyone is very relaxed. We tried several classes in the local area but Sam and Martina's was the best for us.”

“I visited the store with my work shoes which had for some bizar reason sharp points coming through the material at both heels. This created discomfort on a long shift and I needed to put plasters on them and my socks also got holes because of it. I was told that this was possibly a factory fault and it was changed without any issues. Excellent service and after care. Will definitely continue purchasing my work shoes from there again.”

“I played here for a small youth Christmas party under my mobile Bristol DJ service. It's a surprisingly decent sized venue. The venue is clean and tidy and has all the facilities needed, and is very community orientated. There are only a few parking spaces onsite. There is a big car park next door but I'm not sure if it's available to community centre visitors.”

“It's a big shopping centre, with great architectures, great design. The car parks are also big. The capacity is more than 2.500 cars. Besides shops, department stores, restaurants, coffee shops, lego store, technology & electronics store, there are also some entertainment, such as Escape Hunt, Treetop Golf, and King Pins (Bowling Alley). Toilets for customers are available.”

“Oh Thursday night, the week’s old friend, When work and woes begin to end. At The Wellington, the faithful flock, To test their brains and beat the clock. And there she stood — the quiz queen gemma, But no, not Gemma… our legend EMMA! With question sheets and mic in hand, She ruled that pub like trivia land. From general knowledge to music scores, From capital cities to dinosaur wars, She fired off rounds both fierce and fair, While pints and laughter filled the air. The tables buzzed, the pencils flew, As Emma grinned — “Right, round two!” A sports one next, we all went blank, (Except old Dave — he’s basically a tank). “Oh dear,” she said with a cheeky grin, “Guess again, you might just win!” And somehow, through the hazy din, We found our luck — a quiz-night win! The picture round? A test of sight! “That’s Boris… or is it Dwight?” The room went mad, confusion spread, (We wrote “Shrek” — close enough, we said). The music round — what a delight! From ABBA gold to Blur’s “Parklife.” Half the pub began to sing, And The Wellington walls did almost ring! Emma’s timing — sharp, precise, Her banter warm, her jokes concise. “You’re wrong — but close,” she’d sweetly tease, And somehow make defeat a breeze. Each score announced, suspense ran high, The losing team still aimed for pie. The winners cheered, the rest said “next week!” For Emma’s quiz is far from bleak. The beer was cold, the chips were hot, The laughter thick — we drank the lot! And in that pub, beneath its beams, We lived the Thursday quizzer’s dreams. So here’s to Emma, bright and bold, Whose quiz nights never once grow old. The Wellington thrives because she’s there — With humour, heart, and trivia flair. So if you’re free next Thursday eve, Don’t you dare think of trying to leave! Grab a pint, a pal, a pen — And join the best night ever again. For Thursday’s crown at The Wellington, Belongs to one — and only Emma-ton! (Alright, that rhyme was quite a stretch, But Emma’s quiz? “It's got a great venue, but I just like the garden and sitting in St Nicks market... Lots of fun people, always a good place to go and watch the world do it's thing... When I say garden. I mean the venue is technically the seating area out front, even though there's no grass... I call it a garden, and it's nice to sit there any evening..”

“Me and my friends came here on a Friday night. We were worried it was going to be packed but it was just the right amount of people. It was a bit dark and moody which we really liked, they had a live DJ and it was just great vibes. The whole night we just said we love it here. The food as well was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour, leaving us STUFFED. We will be coming back.”

“A cracking night at Bath Races! Me plus four friends headed up for the Friday evening meeting, which featured some fairly low-grade stuff on the card — but that didn’t take away from the excitement. We saw a few close finishes and even managed to pick out a couple of winners between us, which always helps! What really stood out was how reasonably priced everything was. The food stalls and bars were excellent value, and the range on offer hit the spot. There was live music afterwards which, while a little hit and miss, added to the overall atmosphere of a very enjoyable evening. Bath Racecourse is one of those charming, characterful venues that represent the very best of entry-level live sport in the UK. From the friendly old boy on the turnstile when we arrived, to the bucket shakers giving us a cheerful send-off, the whole experience was welcoming and good-natured. It’s been around 25 years since I last visited Bath Races, and I really hope it won’t be another 25 before I’m back. An inexpensive and thoroughly entertaining evening in a picture-postcard setting. Highly recommended!”
