“Best coffee shop in town for lunch. Quite down to earth, not pretentious, can usually get a table. Staff are friendly. Good all day breakfast, though I probably wouldn't bother with the chips if I was making one myself and they don't do black pudding, but I guess a lot of other places don't anymore either. Remember to ask them for sauce and/or vinegar. One of the many reasons I still visit the galleries more than any other shopping area in town. Everywhere else is so overpriced and not very good.”

“We had our wedding here on the bank holiday weekend in May and I can honestly say from the moment we booked the marquee everything has been great. Amy was so great with us, always on hand via email to respond to any questions or queries and was so accommodating for us aswell. The big day came and I can’t fault them! They set up all the decorations just how I wanted it. The food was sooo yummy and our guests also said the same. It was the most relaxed beautiful day we could have ever hoped for. The staff were all amazing and the service was great. Nothing was too much. A wonderful atmosphere and we had the best day ever just gutted we can’t go back and do it again. Thank you all so much! “Went in for a drink early evening midweek, was fairly quiet but had a warm welcome from behind the bar and a nice pint of Gem. Looks like they don't really do food, but there was a hot food cabinet behind the bar with Clarks pies and a few other bits. Looks a lot more welcoming after the makeover internally a few years ago, and still with the half-Lifeboat as the side of the bar. Good job.”

“A fabulous food and drink stop, right by the water's edge. Superb, friendly and efficient staff dish up great tea and coffee (plus other drinks) with a great selection of snackable food including burgers and their famous bacon and egg roll. Truly good value with fully loaded rolls (or bread if you prefer). Fabulous!”

“We enjoyed our fish & chips sat outside on the picnic bench near the car park. We had stopped at Salt & Malt for lunch while walking route 28 (Chew Magna circular walk) from the Nigel Vile’s excellent book: Pub Walks near Bristol & Bath. The chunky chips were fantastic and the battered fish and halloumi was delicious. Service was prompt and we didn’t have to queue or wait for long despite it being busy. Plenty of bins located nearby and very clean toilets; hot water, soap and hand dryer. Highly recommend a visit!”

I have just seen a negative comment about Dexter's here, which deserves to be highlighted because it is really so wrong. Dexter's is a fine coffee shop, with a dedicated owner, loyal staff, and many regular and satisfied customers like me. The negative comment is really destructive. The writer, shining her London coffee credentials in truly pompous fashion, weighs in on the owner, the quality of the coffee, the uniqueness of her terrible experience compared to the normal welcome she experiences elsewhere, and ends by telling us all to avoid at all costs. So, first to correct the narrative. Dexter's, in five years of trading in this part of Bath, has brought a community to life. It is a meeting point and a place for conversation, a place where good things in life are celebrated, and not so good things are comforted. The coffee is sourced from a reputable local roastery, Extract and the owner knows precisely what her clientele need, which is really good coffee and light snacks, delivered consistently in a great atmosphere. But she is balancing a complex community; the shop is welcoming to owners and dogs, walkers and cyclists, people working and meeting. To keep all of us happy, and her business running, she has to be a manager and a diplomat. She does it brilliantly. Sometimes, people do push things a bit. Cyclists, like me, might lay a bike across the window; or someone may bring their lunch from somewhere else and spread it out for an hour whilst working and drinking one coffee. All without asking. Luckily such things are rare, and nearly always no offence was ever intended, but it is necessary to point out a problem, put it right and carry on. But of course there is always a reviewer out there who, if crossed, feels the power to write a review which slams not one thing, but everything about an establishment. And in doing so, the reviewer shows herself to be a righteously indignant huffer and puffer. Dexter's is great, so is the coffee and the company. Do not avoid. Unless that is, you are one of those negative reviewers who delights in trying to destroy small and valuable businesses. By all means please, you, stay away. See you at Dexter's everyone else!!”

“A hidden gem in Bath while browsing the beautiful Neptune. The coffee is great, as is the tea — served in lovely china. All the cakes look fabulous, especially the house-made shortbread. The food menu is always seasonal and smells incredible — I definitely need to come back for lunch soon. The team are also lovely. Would highly recommend!”

The coffee was good, flat white as usual but impressed me most was the sourdough toast, best I've had for quite a while, loose butter not fiddly little packs and more than enough for the 4 half slices. “One of my favourite stores to buy hot chocolate powder. We can buy it for ourselves or as a souvenir/gift for family or friends. Many variety of chocolate, and tea to choose. The store provides free sample of hot chocolate, hot white chocolate, and some hot teas. The staff was friendly, and helpful. Toilets for customers are not available.”

“well where to start, I asked coffee at lyde to cater for my event that I had at the community centre hall and they did absolutely amazing the food was delicious and all of it went down a treat with my guests they all kept saying how delicious it was, coffee at lyde also opened the bar up for my event and again went above and beyond to make sure there was alcohol there that my guest would enjoy so I just want to say a huge thankyou to kelly and her amazing team HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you have an event or party go and book coffee at lyde for the amazing food and beverages we had 100 people at our event and coffee at lyde was absolutely amazing”
